Don't swim in my waters...

I've got a bad reputation, and all because of my jackass brother. Yes, I'm known as the mother of all sea monsters. And yes, I can control powerful creatures who kill and destroy on my command.

But no, I'm not actually in charge. I'm my brother's slave.

So, life sucks just about as much as it possibly can. At least that's what I thought until my brother decides I'm more useful sacrificed to angry sea dragons who despise mermaids. And when I see gargoyles heading straight for me, all I'm left wondering is who will kill me first, the winged monster-hunters, or the angry sea dragons.

What I don't expect? The gargoyles don't know who or what I am. So maybe, just maybe, if I can hide my identity long enough, I'll survive. But it might take a little distraction to accomplish. The thing is, I don't think I mind distracting four hard-as-stonegargoyles who can't stop staring. As long as at the end of this, I don't end up with my head on a platter.

Narration was good but story needed work!

The following ratings are out of 5:
    Romance: 💙🤎💜
    Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
    Story/Plot: 📕📗
    World building: 🌏🌍
    Character development: 😠☺️😋
    Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Full Cast Dual Narration

The heroine: Keto - she is a mermaid who is often on the run from mermaid hunters. She is a slave to her brother, despised and feared by her own kind. So, she avoids them as much as she can and has developed a fondness for the surface, the sand, the sun and the wind. She can control the water and the sea creatures. She is a goddess who has died before at her brothers hand and had to claw her way out of Hades and she fears that happening again which is why she has to obey her brother. Her brother has her send her creatures to kill the people on ships and he then collects the riches on board.

The Story: When Keto’s brother summons her one day, he wants to fulfill a prophecy that only a mermaid princess can sate the sea dragon’s lust and return the oceans to the mer people. He puts her in a cage and plans to sacrifice her to the sea dragons. Keto has a phobia about being locked up in small places so she goes a bit crazy when her brother locks her up. When the sea dragons surround her cage, after killing all her brothers minions who put her cage in the dragon territory, she tries to talk them out of killing her. Then she sees gargoyles in the sky heading straight for her.

The Heroes: Arthur, Clark, Steven and Max - the gargoyles have searched the ocean for a monster (named Keto) who is legendary for her cruelty and violence. They can’t return without taking her prisoner but can’t return without her. They see a woman in trouble and feel the need to save her (Note: Keto gets legs when she is on land). They save Keto from the dragons.

The dialogue was pretty inane and this book definitely started getting steamy too soon in the story. Though a reverse harem standalone with four men and one female that is only 220 pages, pretty much would have to be insta-love. Also I wasn’t too fond of the gargoyles back story about having only 3 female gargoyles for a bunch of male gargoyle brotherhoods.

This book was told in multiple points of view by a full cast via dual narration. It and was narrated by Jessie Bernstein (Arthur), Sierra Kline (Keto), Tim Paige (Steven), Matthew Maddux (Max), and Curt Bonnem (Clark). Sierra Kline has a soft, feminine voice which was pleasant. Matthew Maddux has a deep voice which I liked, though he sounded like he was reading. Jessie Bernstein’s voice was a bit nasal sounding, not my favorite at all. Tim Paige and Curt Bonnem both have a nice voices and ares good narrators. I just wished the story was better.

This was even worse than the first book! Sooooo much insta-lust and insta-love with pretty much the same plot as the previous. A bit disappointed but I am now addicted and sadly I am compelled to read the next to see if it gets better... wish me luck!

    Fun twist on mythology

I am not nearly as familiar with Keto in Greek mythology as some of the other Goddesses and Gods but this was still a really enjoyable twist to mythology. I loved Keto’s personality and behavior, especially in regards to nudity and sex. Those interactions between her and the Gargoyles were humorous.

While I really enjoyed the story and plot, it felt rushed at times. The Gargoyles seemed pretty adamant about being celibate to earn their chance of being with a female gargoyle but they didn’t put up much of a fight when the time came where they broke their vows. I remember in Medusa’s story, there seemed to be a lot more conflict among the Brotherhood and their own innerselves. I didn’t feel like this book portrayed nearly as much of the deep contemplation on breaking their vows for Keto as I read in Medusa’s.

I liked being introduced to the other women that could potentially have their own story as this series progresses. I can’t wait to read Cerberus’s story 😁😁

Overall, this was a good book yet it was a pretty quick read for me. I loved the creativity that the author put into this series so far with Medusa and Keto and I can’t wait to read more to see how she adds her own twists to other myths. Definitely give this book a chance if you enjoy RH, mythology, steam, and a HEA.

The second book in the monsters and gargoyle series and it is just as good as the first one. Keto is a sea goddess and she has her own demons she needs to battle. One such demon is her brother who has enslaved her and has her do unspeakable horrors. One day that changes when she is rescued by some monster hunters. unbeknownst to the hunters they have no idea who she is and so there are little white lies told. You have Steven, Clark, Max and Arthur who are a damaged brotherhood but they still manage to work together. Will their past rear its ugly head and cloud their judgement. Can Keto get them to help her escape her fate that her brother has bestowed on her. This book is truly touching to read about the heartbreak, worries and to see a blossoming of love. What will happen with them. You definitely need to read this book. It is worth it.

Fell in love with Medusa’s Destiny but Keto’s Tale is just WOW, what a tale! I love the writing style and that each book is a standalone within the series! This is a must read, the characters are different and unique, and it only helps to intrigue the reader!

  • Mariah

    Tear inducing

That was excellent! The drama, the passion, the action. I loved all the magical beasts and Keto herself. The men were varied and different and how they all became close was exciting! Why I find so closely to abused souls is a mystery but I love watching them bloom into a loved being!

  • Jennifer Turner

    Very good series

So gargoyles are in danger of becoming extinct so their leaders are playing some what match maker sending out brotherhood's to hunt women monsters and in this one it's Keto Mother to Sea Monsters I really enjoyed it and I think you will too

Keto is a goddess but is enslaved by her cruel brother. She has lived a life of pain and suffering despite her powers and her control of the monsters of the sea. Finally, her brother uses her to get control of the four sea dragons in a heartless plot to sacrifice her. Amazingly, she is rescued by four gargoyles who bring her sexual pleasure for the first time, and then many times thereafter, described in steamy, erotic detail. To remove the slave collar from her neck, she must see Hephaestus. She meets Cerberus, not a three-headed dog, but a female shifter, apparently an old friend. She finds out where Hephaestus is but on the way is captured and again tortured by her brother. The gargoyles, strong as they are, are no match for a god. The conclusion is an amazing adventure, with twists that are an unexpected but welcome outcome. Keto's Tale was hard to put down, it's a very exciting story on several levels. I didn't want to stop until I reached the end. We are left wondering what became of Lamia and Cerberus, hopefully in a future tale?

    Mermaids and monsters, oh my!

I love, love, love this series. It's steamy, yes, but it throws in the face of that every story has two sides. That maybe there is more to a "monster's" story than one person's telling. In Keto's story, the Queen of all Sea Monsters, she is a slave, literally, to her dark and twisted brother's evil deeds. He has a metal collar around her neck that tightens to chock her, even kill her. She longs to be free. A Brotherhood of gargoyles is sent to bring her back to the sanctuary. Keto thinking they just want to imprison her, says she is someone else in an effect to get away from all her enemies. But she can't fight the chemistry that she feels feels with them. They can't fight that or the growing bonds that are forming. It's a wonderful next book in the series. I can't wait to see what wonderful monster is next

Keto goddess of the seas, mother of the sea monsters is also a slave, collar and all to her evil brother. Her brother makes her do things against her will and has for many, many years. She attempts to hide from her brother for awhile with the four gargoyles who are there when 4 dragons try to eat her and one of her babies save her, taking their magic and putting them in the gargoyles, who are actually looking for her, but she gives them a false name of Sirena taking them on a wild goose chase of sorts. It takes awhile for her to trust them and for them to develop feelings more than lust. I loved reading this book! Monsters who are good, while others that are supposed to be good, aren't. Seeing her grow into love was a sweet ride indeed!

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Shapeshifters, gods, and a reverse harem...Hot!

Max, Athur, Stephen and Clark form a brotherhood of gargoyles. They are sent to find the monster Keto.
Keto is the Mother Goddess of Sea Creatures. But she is also a slave to her brother. She wears a collar that he put on her that tightens around her throat when he wants her to come to him and continues to tighten if she refuses to do whatever he asks.
When the gargoyles stumble upon her she lies about who she is. Can they ever accept that she isn't truly the monster they think she is?
We are introduced to 2 other "monster " women. I am excited to read more of these books!

I didn’t like this book, no, not at all .... I loved every second of it, swallow it whole, didn’t even emerge from it when kids was hungry. This series is just awesome. Keto is so strong and so weak in other ways. She is sexy but innocent, even with her heavy past and lots of abuses she did survive. Those gargoyles are another story, each with its own past, character, worries and sentiments. And the ending made me happy, however I must say that I am worried for Keto’s “monster” friends and do hope hear about them soon.

    Keto's tale

I love that this book featured some of the characters that were introduced in Medusa's story. It was nice to see the recurring characters even though they had their own story. My one complaint about this book is Keto had a collar on, making her do her brother's bidding, but not a single one of the guys commented on the collar. Why were none of them concerned? Why did none of them ask why she was collared? Even with that small detail missing this book was amazing. Why doesn't love some hunky gargoyles?

Mermaids and monsters, which is the true evil

This story is exactly what I hoped for. I would always read stories as a child about monsters and the heroes who would slay them. I always liked the monsters more. I always wanted to know their story. This is a real story about the sea mother of monsters. How all she wanted was to keep herself and her monsters safe against her evil brother. Can the gargoyles help her free herself? Or will they see just another monster like everyone else?

  • Mary Ellen

I loved Keto's story. Again this series is a dark and erotic retelling. It has funny over the top sex scenes between 4 sexy gargoyles and one brave female "monster". I loved that Keto's voice was very different from Medusa's voice in book one. Where Medusa is out there and has a potty mouth, Keto is more reserved and speculative. This book also does a great job setting up potential stories for the future.
If you are looking for a fun, erotic retelling of Greek mythology with dark elements... I highly recommend this series.

  • Ms. Cyn

    Powerful

I think its so twisted that these females are abused and victimized and then worst of all, they are portrayed as the villains! Its like their tormentors try to make it all excusable and even justifiable. Its insane.

This time the "monster" is the Mother of all Sea Monsters, Keto. I love how curious she is about everything. The gargoyles tasked to find her are really great, except for Clark. He's a complete douche but she accepts him anyways. The best part was how she realizes her own power.

  • Nat

This series just keeps getting better! The world building has been improved upon and I loved the increased amount of character development that Keto had in comparison to Medusa. You really feel for Keto and her journey. My favorite part was that she was strong and powerful in her own right. she didn’t need the men to save her, and that’s such a nice change! I love that she was so strong but able to be vulnerable as well.
If you have the chance, read this book! It will be worth your while!

  • Aimee

I did like the storyline for this tale. I struggled to connect with the characters though. I felt there wasn't enough build up with the relationships and just a lot of sex activities. I would have liked to have seen more background of the characters and gotten to know them each a bit more. As I said I did enjoy to plot and progression of the story itself which was interesting and engaging. I do look forward to seeing what comes next in this series though.

  • Raina

Loved this story and the series. It just has so much of all the things I love. A relationship where hate turns to love, plenty of monsters and gods, women that know how to handle anything, plenty of hot and steamy love and so much more. Keto is definitely a misunderstood woman. She really has a heart of gold if you look past the fact she is the goddess of monsters. Plenty of fighting and action. And her gargoyles just heat it up so much. Can’t wait to find out who is next in the series.

  • Sydney

    Amazing!

I adored this book from start to finish! Keto is an awesome character; she's filled with so much love for her creatures, it's inspiring. The gargoyles are interesting characters too. My only gripe is that they never explain why they needed to take Keto back to the island for their mission. But that's pretty minor. The story was wonderfully creative and introduced a lot more of the Greek-monster world, which I hope will be further expanded on in the next book.

No spoilers of any kind included!
Another awesome book in the Monsters and Gargoyles series!
Like the first book this one sucked me in and would not release me until I had gotten to the end of the story.
And then I was left wanting and needing more, but that’s a normal thing when it comes to Lacey Carter Andersen’s amazing work.
So I am going to say yes I definitely do recommend this book because I loved it!

    *** No Spoilers ***

I absolutely loved this book! Lacey does an incredible job with character and environment development. She has set an amazing plot that keeps you intrigued. I had a lot of different emotions while reading. Keto is an amazing female main character. Her 4 gargoyles are extremely moody.
    I highly recommend this book/series!
*** I have Kindle Unlimited, and I used that service to read this book. ***

    Loved it

Another great monster book. I loved Keto and her growth in this book, she became a strong bad ass queen. This is the third in this series I’ve read and I do feel like the guys are becoming a little similar (there’s always one that’s a big jerk and doesn’t trust the monster and it causes a bunch of problems) so yeah I hope the next one definitely changes it up again so it doesn’t feel too similar but I still really enjoyed it.

    Love this book!!

This one was like little mermaids meets RH. Was extremely lucky to have been able to read this adventurous and steamy, fairy tale meets Greek Gods book which makes for an awesome reading experience, simply love reading both these books from the series and cannot wait to see what happens next, these books are never a disappointment, keep on writing more books for us to read..
