Growing up the daughter of a wealthy Colombian businessman, Vanessa has been handed life on a silver platter. When she sets her sights on becoming the world’s next singing sensation without her father’s money, she hits a dead end at every turn and is ready to admit defeat for the first time. At a last-minute tryout for a singing competition, she manages to get her foot in the door, and is convinced it’ll be an easy win.
Friend and Harper Music wardrobe genius, Harrison Burbank isn’t the type of man Vanessa typically dates, but once the contest kicks into gear, Vanessa realizes there’s something special about his adorable smile and endearing quirks. Right as she’s ready to make her move, a fellow contender with artificially enhanced lips, cheap hair extensions, and the determination to win at any cost swoops in and steals away Harrison’s affections.
Vanessa realizes winning the competition is on the line, but persuading Harrison that opposites attract would be the biggest prize of all.

Romance, clean; Series but stand alone read
Fun series, loved this part of the story where two not so quickly thrown together people fall in like and in love. This one had a fun back story although the dramatic tension with the drama was a bit much, but this was definitely a live large type story. Fun to see characters from the other novellas in this series mentioned and appear. Fun, flirty, and cute fall and coming together. Can't wait to read the next one in this series. -
This was a cute, clean romance that read like a YA book.
Vanessa de la Paz was a Columbian-born socialite who had an amazing voice. She wanted a singing contract but wasn't able to achieve it on her own in a traditional way. So, she decided to audition for reality show singing competition. Her good friend, Harrison Burbank, was the tailor/costumer assigned to the program and Harper Music. As the competition progressed, Vanessa became more and more aware that her feelings for Harrison were changing from friend to maybe more. Unfortunately, Harrison had hooked up with the shallowest contestant of them all, Candy. She was only really interested in Harrison with the hopes that he might improve her chances of winning the competition.
My one criticism of the book was the mean girl personality in Candy's personality grew tiresome. There is a happy ending which was great and I appreciated the fact that the story was a clean story without sex or foul language. I was given an arc copy of the book and I willingly offer my review. -
Another hit!
I absolutely love this series. I came across the first book as I was browsing other authors and it drew me into the series. The end of book three kinda clued me in to a Vanessa and Harrison story. I was not disappointed. Their story gave me butterflies. Rachel has a fun and witty way with words. I eagerly look forward to every book she releases. Keep up the good work! -
Another fun installment to the series
Though I've loved the first 3 books of the series, I wasn't a big fan of Vanessa. So I felt some trepidation going into this book. Especially with the blurb indicating that the author was matching her with sweet Harrison. Happily, there was no need for concern.
Vanessa does some maturing in this story. And Harrison does, too, though his path is a bit different from hers. Both of them are helped along in the journey by a villainess who turned out to be more formidable than Vanessa (or I) expected.
The reasons for their decisions and motivations throughout the story are frustratingly believable, lol. But I appreciated that despite situations that could have followed typical comedy lines, the author never does (except, of course, for poor Ruby the walking accident waiting to happen)
It's not an original plot, but it's a very well done version of it, and by the time I reached the end, I was as satisfied with the book as I had hoped to be at the outset.
All of the previous books' female protagonists are there & part of the story. I was disappointed not to see their significant others, though they were mentioned. That was my only let down, however. I'm looking forward to the next installment to this series which I find myself hoping will never end, lol.
Clean romance level: sweet kisses -
A clean romance with sass
Rachael Eliker puts a spin on singing contest drama by giving us the backstage view into the lives of the contestants. Romantic feelings develop and are thwarted, contestants compete for prizes and love. My favorite parts of this story were the understated and non-traditional personalities of the two key characters. The friendships throughout the book gave it depth. At times the story resolved too quickly, or a scene jumped before I was ready, but overall this was a delightful clean romance with a bit of humor sprinkled here and there. Totally a great choice for a summer weekend read. -
To be honest, this is the first book I've read in this series. I understood right off that Vanessa is a born diva. Even I could see what Candy was; so what was wrong with Harrison. If he's that blind and dumb, maybe Vanessa should find someone with a little more brains. As far as I can see, Harrison is only good for clothing mishaps and designing. Outside of that I found him flat and a typical hormonal nerd. Otherwise, the story and comedy came off beautifully.

A fantastic contemporary romance that is exciting and well written. The characters are fun, quirky, likeable and evolve. This fast paced storyline had me laughing out loud with its witty dialogue. I was truly entertained from begining to end in this fun romance that was clean with the right amount of chemistry thru the stories twists. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.

What fun!
I’ve enjoyed all of the Pop Stars RomComs so far, but this one was the best. I was laughing out loud several times, but I can’t tell about it without spoiling it for others. Suffice it to say, it was a fun setting (a singing competition a la American Idol) and great characters. I adore Harrison! -
Fun, Clean, Easy to Read Romance
I have loved every book in this series! Of course, this one did not disappoint! Shoot for the Stars is such an fun and easy to read book. I’ve been waiting for Vanessa’s story. I love that the author matched her with Harrison! I never would have expected those two to end up together but it made for some good reading! -
I wasn't a fan of Vanessa in previous books. She came across kind of arrogant and pushy. Seeing her show vulnerability around Harrison (who is adorable) was nice.
I like how we still interact with previous characters and Mandy is fast becoming a fave.
I predicted Ruby's news at the start when she complained about a headache. I wish we'd seen Collin, this is the only book he hasn't been in. -
I received a free copy of this book however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
I loved this! It grabbed me from the first page, kept me til the last and enthralled me in between. Well worth your time to read it. -
I really enjoyed this story. It was a refreshing change from all the Billionaire type books that are cropping up everywhere right now. This is a sweet, clean romance.
-

This was a cute read. It did take a little longer to warm up to Vanessa. She did come off as a pain at the beginning of the book.

Flirty and fun
I loved the singing competition and seeing the variety of contestants. I loved having an emotional heroine battling a mean girl. -
Shoot for the Stars by Rachel Eliker is the newest is Pop Star Romance series and maybe one of the best! Vanessa de la Paz wants to be a pop star and she wants it now. Her father is a wealthy and influential man; hence she is unaccustomed to waiting. After being turned away from one record producer's office, she finds herself auditioning for America's Next Pop Star, arranged by her college roommate, Ruby, who is a successful pop star/songwriter herself. She is not happy but decides to hang in, partly because she meets, Harrison, the costumer, to whom she is immediately attracted. Along they way she meets the other contestants, including Candy, who immediately goes after Harrison and whom Vanessa doesn't trust for a moment; Eloise, who becomes her roommate for the rest of the season, and Warren, a young cowboy who is Eloise's boyfriend for a while.
This series is good because these people are real. I have know way of knowing of knowing if this is what the music business is really like, but these people could be anywhere and be just a real. They care about one another...are ready to sacrifice for their friends. There is a mean girl...yes, the same one we all know/knew. There is fun; there is passion; and Shoot for the Stars is extremely entertaining. I highly recommend all the books in the Pop Stars series, but especially this one. You will love it and you will laugh!
I received an ARC of Shoot for the Stars in exchange for a fair and honest review.
