UbiquiCity 2: Undercurrents Reviews

I really enjoyed the creativity that went into UBIQUICITY 2, a collection of futuristic sci fi short stories. These are well edited and have richly described settings and interesting characters often in virtual reality settings. I loved all the stories. My favorite two were probably “The Heart of a Doctor” which tells the story of Mei and Linda on a day at work in the gritty streets of downtown. Mei is a trainee doctor and Linda is her mentor. They’re helping patients who live a hard life. When something unexpected happens, both of them are faced with a terrible choice, in different ways. This story made me teary. Short and very moving. Another favorite was “Playing With Dolls” which tells the story of Dahlia who was burned in a fire and had to have major reconstruction and became “Venus” who was then sold to pay of the debt of her reconstruction. I love stories that ask complicated emotional questions and I really enjoyed this as well as what happens when someone enters her life with an unexpected offer. Check out this entire collection! 5/5 stars.
