This is one of those books where I am really glad I got it via Kindle Unlimited...because if I hadn't, I would be super annoyed and probably rated this even lower.
I had really high hopes for this one. It had such high ratings and was recommended to me by amazon (not that I truly trust that, but you know what I mean). I was really drawn to to the blurb and the premise sounded like total ambrosia.
That said, the execution was...well, it was pretty poor. The writing was really rough and there was way too much dialogue without any narration to flesh it out and/or make it flow. In fact, the story was told almost entirely via the character dialogue. And it just didn't work, which is a shame as I feel like this had so much potential otherwise.
Oh well. Onward. -
I never intended to read this book. But strangely I did. And then I kept reading thinking that I am going to drop it but then I kept going till I hit the end.
Yes, this book held my interest.
Not the best but not bad either.
It was somewhere in the middle.
I liked how the h cared for her son. And I liked the way the H cared for both of them. -
“But Sam came first, and always would.”
This is not your cliche single mum meets guy, falls in love and they live happily ever after. In true Jaxson style his characters have so much depth, they are genuine, surrounded by turmoil, you want to hug them or punch them.
Jordyn was prepared to sacrifice everything to ensure Sam was her priority even over her heart and making a life for herself. She’s scraping by trying to make ends meet, working two jobs to keep a roof over her sons head. Her ex Keith collects Sam every other weekend. He doesn’t make it any easier, by stirring the pot and blaming her for anything and everything. Poor Jordyn struggles watching him go, is full of self doubt and questions every decision she’s ever made. Finding out Keith’s girlfriend has been there during Sam’s visits upsets her. Not wanting him confused by introducing other partners into his life, however it was bound to happen sooner or later. Jordyn heads to a local bar with a girlfriend to let her hair down because Sam’s spending the weekend with his dad and her work cancelled.
Ramsay is having a few beers with his coworkers when he spots Jordyn sitting at the bar. The conversation is easy, he is everything she is attracted to and they just click. It starts as an every other weekend “thing” but as time goes by they struggle to put a label on their relationship. Then Ramsay gets to meet Sam and they seem to like one another. He has so much that needs to be discussed with Jordyn but Ramsay doesn’t want to lose her. His past torments him, he knows it’s the reason why he shouldn’t be with Jordyn but he just can’t help himself.
Keith likes to make Jordyn’s life difficult, he challenges her constantly, puts thoughts into Sam’s head. Somethings never change and old habits never die. He is jealous, bitter and twisted when he finds out about Ramsay.
Sam is the cutest little boy, Jordyn is trying to shelter him from all the bull that comes from a separation but this triangle around Sam is about to implode. -
Awesome
I absolutely loved Ramsey and Jordyn’s story. It truly pulled at my heart strings and held me hostage in their journey to finding happiness through the barriers of their past. Stunning love story. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazing read -
30% DNF. I just can't,,,Not for me.

I started reading Every Other Weekend the way I start any Jaxson Kidman book with anticipation and expectations of a great story and relatable, characters that come alive on the page. I was in no way displeased with his latest offering. In fact I was anything but. Jaxson’s words carried me into his fictional world so effortlessly and smoothly it was like almost like going home for a visit. The story of Jordyn and Ramsey surpasses anything I have ever read from this author before. Jordyn is a non-cliche, single mother to Sam. Keith, Sam’s father has custody of him every other weekend. Jordyn having some time for herself goes out and meets Ramsey at a bar. Ramsey, becomes her knight in somewhat dented armour, and they form an instant connection that made me feel heady at times. The chemistry between them is both honest and titillating.
A plan was devised for them to be together every other weekend. It was a simple plan. It was a plan that would provide them both with something they needed and wanted. What on earth could go wrong with such simplicity? Maybe ex-partners and past revelations? The only thing I have to grumble about is that I wanted more. More of the amazing secondary characters that featured in the story. They brought even more humour, heartache and love. I won’t reveal anything that will spoil the book for you, so go read it, you won’t be disappointed. I promise.
Jaxson Kidman is a master storyteller and this journey he takes you on is filled with heart, soul, yearning, heartache and ultimately love. I laughed, cried, grieved with and got mad as hell at the characters. Parts of the book just broke my heart. Very few authors can reduce me to tears, Jaxson seems to excel at it. If you are new to Jaxson Kidman then this book is a phenomenal introduction to his work that will have you hooked from the get go. If like me you are already an avid reader of Jaxson’s, then all I can say to you is that this is truly his best work to date.
Every Other Weekend has set the bar very high for all other books that follow it this year. I, for one, am waiting on tenterhooks for the next book from Jaxson Kidman. -
This was my first read by this author, overall I enjoyed it. The single mom, bad boy plot worked, it was believable. The challenges of a single parent were front and center, it was compelling.
The main characters (Jordyn and Ramsey) are likable, true life characters. They aren't perfect, they both have a lot of baggage but are trying their best. Jordyn's situation as a single mom was difficult, sad at times. She's the primary caregiver for her son with very little help. Her ex is in the picture but he's pretty worthless. Her situation was tough.
The highlight for me was the slow build romance and chemistry between Ramsey & Jordan. The attraction was strong from the beginning, still they were both hesitant to get serious. I liked that the romance wasn't rushed, it was realistic considering there was a child involved.
This was a good read for me, it wasn't perfect but I liked it. I would have like a little more of Jordyn's backstory, I thought it was too vague. I also wanted a look info the future, the epilogue was kind of weak. That said, I'd still recommend. I'm interesting in reading more by this author. -
One of Jaxson Kidmans best books. Must read
Jordyn and Ramsey. Two people who have witnessed love and loss and heartache are drawn to each other. No matter how much they try to push the other person away they are still drawn to each other. Watching these two struggle with their pasts and try to fight against the power pulling them together is amazing to see how the power of attraction works. I can see why Jordyn is so protective of her son and why she is careful of who she lets into her life. I can see why she wanted their situation to be every other weekend. Protecting not only her heart but her sons.
Everyone goes through hard times in their lives. The situations these two have dealt with are tough to deal with on their own. But to actually let those emotions out, from those situations, to another person is so damn hard. Being able to love another person and share your past with them is an amazing thing. Being able to have a family who loves you no matter what and not judge you but support you through it all is just wow. I loved Aunt Millie and uncle Tom. Millie is certainly a force to be reckoned with. She is the strength in the family. Jaxson Kidman did it again with this book. He made me laugh and made me cry. He got me to believe in love and family. And to be able to look past what happens in the past. We need to accept the here and now. Yes what we deal with and go through defines us. But we can only make it what we want it to be. Ramsey and Jordyn are amazing people. I highly recommend you read Every Other Weekend. You will love every one of the characters. You will get so mad at some points. Love, loss, happiness, family, pasts, heartache, laughter, and lots of emotions in this book. You will Feel as if you are a part of the family. You will feel every emotion that Ramsey and Jordyn are feeling. This is a five star book. Buy it, read it, and you will forever be changed by Jaxson Kidman and his books -
When You Simply Want More!
What happens when a strong woman, a protective mother, a woman with vulnerabilities meets a man that allows her to be, just be, exist, no questions, no demands, just be?
Jordyn is at a crossroad in her life. She's a phenomenal mother to an amazing little guy but finds herself wanting just to escape her reality for a few hours. That escape comes in the form of a man named Ramsey. But how can she let her guard down? Oh Ramsey makes that easy. He's fighting some of his own demons so he understands Jordyn's doubts. But they are so drawn to each other. The problem is that one has secrets and one only has truth.
Ramsey lets himself fall under the spell that is Jordyn. All while she slowly lets down her shield.
This couple was so real. Living out real life problems. Jordan is a fierce heroine and Ramsey gave me hope that a true man really walks among us. I never once doubted this couple only sought to protect Sam, Jordyn's son.
The supporting characters were exceptional. Aunt Millie and Uncle Tom were definitely good for a laugh and a bit of wisdom. Friends from both sides were relatable.
This is some of Kidman's absolute best work. He'll break your heart all while slowly piecing it back together again. -
I absolutely LOVED this book! There are not many authors that can continue to write such phenomenal books and still get into your heart, but Jaxson Kidman is one of them! Every Other Weekend was written about a single mom with one goal in mind; to keep her son happy and safe. Falling in love was not in the plans. Jordyn and Ramsey together are hot, hot, HOT!! Their chemistry is undeniable. Jordyn's love for her son, Sam, is all she needs, until the tall dark and handsome, Ramsey, comes to her rescue. This is not your typical love story. Jaxson doesn't write that way. His stories are realistic and heartbreaking. Ramsey is the type of man you should probably stay away from, but his heart shows through his actions and love for his family. There were parts of the book where I wanted to throw my device, and other times I couldn't get up cause I fell so hard in love with these characters. I have read most of Jaxson's books and I have been a true fan since the first one I read. His words keep speak to me and I fall in love every time. You will not be disappointed with Every Other Weekend.

I feel like all I can say is wow. Truly. I absolutely loved this book. I was hooked from the start. Rams is amazing. He's a total "bad boy" but oh so much more. His heart, his past... And Jordyn is this woman that doesn't have the perfect life but her strength, her character make her perfect. Sam is completely adorable too. I love the inner struggles, the outside forces involved and how the flow of their story pulled me along with them. I'd like to see a bonus in the future, a glimpse of life later on and the side characters would be fun to explore as well, like Norah, Matt, and Chris. They have stories of their own to share. I hope. Regardless, this is an absolute MUST read book. I loved every second of it.

Another Kidman Classic
He's done it again. Not many can make ME cry, but he sure can. The way he writes. The way his characters come to life. It all comes together. You wanna have dinner at Aunt Millies. Joke around with Uncle Tom. Play catch with little Sam. Jordan is the best friend you want next to for all of life's troubles. And Ramsey is the guy you want at your side. I do have to give it to him (Jaxson that is) he does have a way of making me cry, but it's worth every tear shed. -
Oh my goodness this book is amazing.
Jordyn as a single mother doing all she can to make sure her son Sam has all he needs and to give him a normal life. All she wants is a get away every other weekend. With that in walks Ramsey to save the day. He himself having his own issues with past relationships. Little did they know at the beginning of their every other weekend plans that they would find love.
This book hit home. Anyone who has been a single parent or dated a single parent this book will surely hit home for you. Much recommended. -
Another amazing book by Jaxson Kidman
This was a beautiful story about a struggling single mom dealing with a sleazy ex, annoying bosses and creepy landlord. I loved Jordyn’s strength and commitment to her little boy. Ramsey was supposed to be just an every other weekend fling, but his big heart and caring ways broke through Jordyn’s walls. Jordyn did the same for Ramsey. The words are beautifully written, they tugged on my heart. You need to read this book! -
Phenomenal Read
Jordyn and Ramsey's story will absolutely melt your soul.
Jordyn is a strong single mother of Sam her adorable five year old son.
Ramsey and Jordyn both have issues from their pasts to deal with.
This beautiful couple is proof that no matter what has in your past, there is always hope for a future, and not just Every Other Weekend...
As always Jaxson Kidman continues to amaze me with his stories.
Congratulations hun. -
Perfectly Damaged Family.
This story is about you, about me, about either of us, both of us or all of us... what ever your role is in life, you will take this book and make it a part of you. If it’s broken this book may just help fix it!
It’s REAL
It’s honest
It’s pure
Is Jaxson Kidman’s work anything but?!??
Thank you for sharing this story, I know it’s had it’s issues, dramas but hey, real life never runs smooth! -
I loved this book. The main characters stole my heart, made me fall in love, and made me feel so much sorrow and pity for others. Every character had a place in this book. The story line was amazing. So much family love for people that don’t think they deserve it. I will read this book again and recommend it too anyway looking for a great love story with some much needed drama. As always Jaxson Kidman smashed another amazing book. Can’t wait to find out what’s next up his sleeve!! X

I didn’t finish...

Jordyn is a single mom who shares her son, Sam with her ex Keith, every other weekend. She has Sam most days but she knows it's important for him to spend time with his father. Keith and Jordyn were high school sweethearts. Young love-young, stupid love, the kind that never grows to maturity and just fizzles out-love. But Sam was a product of that love and Jordyn has no regrets. Sam is the best thing in her life.
On a rare evening with nothing to do, Jordyn and her friend head to a local bar. There they run into old friends from school. Ramsey happens to be one of them.
After high school, Ramsey took a construction job with his Uncle Tom. Uncle Tom and his wife Aunt Millie raised Ramsey from a young age into the sexy, flirty alpha he is today.
A bar scuffle ensues and Jordyn finds herself alone with Ramsey where they tentatively agree to meet again. Nothing is set in stone though. Rams knows they could have fun together if Jordyn would just give him a chance. Jordyn is gun shy and has been out of the game for a while. She's got Sam to consider and an ex that just can't seem to get his act together.
Jordyn is used to living a hard life, barely getting by and always feeling the guilt that comes with raising a son, basically, alone. Rams is easy. Easy to talk to. Easy to flirt with. And the sex is intense and mind blowing, and even that's easy. Something had to give and it wasn't long before it would.
Jordyn is sassy, strong and taking control of her life. Rams is bold, dangerous and too charming for his own good.
A COMPLEX STORYLINE THAT WAS RAW AND REAL AS WELL AS SEXY🔥AND FLIRTY💕 !
THE SECONDARY CHARACTERS REALLY ADDED DIMENSION AND ROUNDED OUT THE STORY ! REAL LIFE DIALOGUE KEPT THE STORY FLOWING ! JAXSON'S WRITING STYLE WILL KEEP YOU INVESTED UNTIL THE VERY LAST PAGE ! ! ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND-A DEFINITE MUST READ ! ! ! -
The Delight
What starts off hard, turns into a love story for something very common. Single motherhood, divorce, wanting or not wanting kids, and the reputation that follows you no matter what. It all comes together for a truly moving story.
Review
Jordyn doesn't have time for much else in her life than her son and working two jobs to just break even. Throw in she can barely have a civil conversation with her ex-husband, she hasn't gone out for a fun time in a long while. But when a man hits on her at a bar and can't seem to take no or keep his hands to himself, someone steps in and doesn't exactly charm her, but intrigues her enought to continue the conversation. She knows who he is, but he doesn't seem to remember her.
Ramsay hasn't had an easy life and he blames himself for things that really he shouldn't. We all do this so we can relate to what he carries in his heart. The one good thing in his life is his aunt and uncle, who he gives a lot of credit for dealing with him. A near miss at the alter leads him to believe he is destined to not love nor to be loved. But he is captivated by the woman at the bar he meets and then to watch her being harassed, well, he steps in and doesn't really know why.
Jordyn is very clear. She has a son and she won't mess with him while he is one. So this becomes an every other weekend event and I don't mean they have sex right off either. Ramsay respects everything she does to make her son her priority in life. He never had that and won't take it away from a kid. Staying away from her isn't something he can do either. Bringing her coffee at work becomes a highlight for both of them.
But rules are meant to be broken and he meets the son. He meets the father, who he knew in high school...and not in a good way. As Ramsay becomes more of a father to her son than her ex, Rams also becomes the man she falls in love with. Unfortunately, Rams has only told her part of his past and one key piece is missing.
This isn't a sweet romance, but one that is pushed to reality of divorced parents. How they protect their children, deal with their ex's and try to find love or not in their life. It's also about a parent working two jobs to make ends meet, renting a house she never knows if she will be evicted from (he wants to sell it) or when she has to take a day off because her kid is sick or her ex can't be bothered to be a father at the any given time.
Rams does realize that some of his wounds are healing, and now Jordyn becomes someone he can't live without.
