Creatures of the Desert World: A National Geographic Action Book Reviews

When I picked this book up, I wasn't expecting it to be a pop-up book! I love books that you can interact with, so that was very fun for me. However, some of the pop-ups made it a little difficult to read because you had to adjust and figure out a way to see without ruining the book. Some of the backgrounds also made it a little difficult to read the paragraph (black detailing messing with the black text).
I found it very informational and liked that the paragraphs had questions to ask the class. I would read this as a class if we were talking about different animals or environments, but I think this would be a fun book for kids to read on their own so they can interact with it. -
SO awesome - I am a full grown lady who bought this for its sheer beauty and my general love of the desert, but damn if I didn’t giggle and occasionally squeal with delight as I worked through the book myself.

Great art, educational material.
I loved it when I was a kid. Son loves it now. -
We actually live in Arizona and use this book to show and educate our daughter about all the surrounding animals and plants. It's very educational and even I learned new things reading this book. We love the pop-up pictures!

My husband's youngest is a preschool manager and has two children, age 6 and 0. I've decided to part with this, and am sending this with him when he visits all his Reno area family next week to share with them, especially the new one.
But she doesn't get it by herself for a few years, because it's a popup book with 3D plus tabs plus flaps, plus text. Her big sister will get to read it first. What a special treat for any lucky child; esp. one who lives in or near the American Southwest. -
Goddamn tarantula, scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.
