In July of 1940, the War Department created the Special Service branch as the entertainment branch of the United States military. This is the story of the 15th Company that Branch. It is written by a young Lieutenant in the Company, Maurice Pascoe. Prepared for private distribution to members of that Company, it is now available to the general public. Covering the entire lifespan of this Company during the Second World War, Keep ‘Em Laughing , details both the entertainment provided by the Company and the reality of performing at or near the front lines.

I was hoping there would be more information about specific shows the 15th put on throughout the war. Most of the book was just a general overview of the movements of the 15th through Europe, but nevertheless, it was still an interesting look at one man’s memories of this time of his life.
