Beep! Beep! Beep! It’s time for sleep. Say goodnight with Little Blue Truck and friends!
A storm is brewing and Little Blue Truck and his good friend Toad are hurrying home for bed. But who can sleep with all that racket? It’s not long before other friends show up seeking safety from the storm. Thunder and lightning sure can be scary, but it’s easy to be brave together. When the clouds roll on and the sky is clear, it’s all aboard for a bedtime ride! Beep! Beep! Shhh . . .
Illustrated by John Joseph in the style of Jill McElmurry (1954-2017), who created the original Little Blue Truck illustrations.
Good Night, Little Blue Truck Reviews

Cute enough, though do note that most of it is about the animals being frightened of a thunder storm so if your little one is afraid of storms it might not be the best choice for bedtime.
-
Read for my toddler's bedtime. Little Blue Truck's friends couldn't sleep in the heavy rain so one by one they went to Blue Truck to seek shelter and company. I liked the illustrations.
Read from kindle unlimited. -
Good Night, Little Blue Truck is a read-aloud children's book by Alice Schertle. This little book has the most beautiful illustrations I think I have ever enjoyed. The book is just a delight as Little Blue Truck and Toad help their friends, cow, duck, goose, goat, and others deal with a storm that blows is one evening with lots of lightning and thunder. The intent is to calm the fears of the group until the storm passes and the sleepy moon comes out. The colors in the illustrations are vivid.. I just loved this book.
4 stars
Happy Reading! -
I didn’t mean for this book to come up on Goodreads but I had my kindle app syncing. I must say that my 18 month grandson loves this book. It combines his love of trucks with animals. It also mentions helping other people, all in a way that toddlers can understand. A total win

If you've read one Little Blue Truck, you've read them all.

This is a delightful bedtime story...in rhyme😁

Do you have a fear of thunderstorms? Little Blue truck and his friend, Toad, hurry home before a storm. As the storm worsens, more of their friends come to seek shelter. What a great lesson they learn: safety in numbers helps us to be brave!

I liked the message. The kiddo liked this one because it had animal sounds.

Sweet story book
This was a cute story with lovely illustrations. I love the line : “ … the moon was a smile in the starry sky”. -
These rhymes suck. We have read three other little blue books and like this, but this one just makes me want to [beep] [beep] [beep]!

Little Blue Truck and Toad sheltering friends during a storm helping them soothe their fears.

This is a very adorable bedtime story! It shows a bunch of animals trying to fall asleep, but they are too afraid of the thunder to be all alone. They all gather together, and eventually feel safe and fall asleep. I think that this would be a great story to read before bed to any younger child, as long as they aren't too afraid of thunder. I liked the message that this story had; it showed us the importance of friends, especially during our hard times.

Alice Schertle and illustrator Jill McElmurry bring back Little Blue and all his friends for a good night adventure. The rhythm and characters are familiar from previous books and the story shows how friends can weather any storm as long as they are together. Fans of the previous Little Blue
Truck books will love this one, and it will make a great first introduction to Little Blue and the farm yard animals.
Quotes: "Duck said, loud as he could quack it, 'THUNDER'S JUST A NOISY RACKET!"

Another great rhyming Little Blue Truck book.
Little Blue Truck and Toad load up the other animals to get them out of a storm, then once it passes, drop them off to head off to bed.
When I realized the pig was wearing pajamas in his wallow, I squeed a little bit. So cute!
I didn't really understand where Little Blue Truck and Toad live, though. During the storm, they park in a garage, but then when it's over, it looks like they go "home" to a... barn? And Toad's bed is on top of the truck? That confused me a bit. Maybe you have to read the first book to understand. Or maybe the Little Blue Truck's home is a barn. Or maybe I just have to read it again. Which I will, since it's Lily's book. Over and over and over. -
This is Henry's favorite book. He requests it every night. He loves pointing to the animals and the moon. Feb. 2021

Here is the thing. I bought Good Night, Little Blue Truck for Emmett as a Christmas present. When it came in, I was like "Umm...it's a hardcover, but not like the other hardcovers." So, I ended up saving it for his 1st birthday, even though I knew he still wouldn't be able to read it then. This book is an actual hardcover book with a book sleeve and paper pages. Just know that before you buy it. Mainly, this sits in the closet, so he doesn't damage it. I've pulled it out twice for him, and he is a little upset that I don't let him flip the pages, so he hasn't read the whole thing more than once.
"Thunder crashing. Lightening flashing." Blue and Toad are on their way home during a thunderstorm. Once they get settled in, different animals start showing up and asking if they can have a safe place to stay during the storm.
Blue tells everyone that thunderstorms are good because it helps water the plants. I think the author was trying to add a not so subtle way to tell kids to not be scared of thunder and lightning. I'm not too sure how well this will work. I guess I will find out in a few years. Anyways, after the storm passes, Blue and Toad take everyone home. Once everyone is home, Blue and Toad head back to their place, and go to sleep for the night. Now you get why it's called Good Night, Little Blue Truck?
This was probably one of the longest books in this series. And, I'm not saying that as a bad thing. I think it is really cute how all the animals seem scared of the thunderstorm, but they feel safe with everyone else. I would recommend this book for ages 2.5 and up because it is a hardcover and not a board book. However, if they create a Good Night, Little Blue Truck board book, I would say buy it right away because it will end up being a favorite.
Overall, a good book. But, has anyone else wondered how all these animals can fit in the back of Blue? Also, that teddy bear is cute. -
A good book, for me not quite as captivating as other stories about Little Blue, but it still possesses some valuable lessons.
There are four elements I like most about this story:
FIRST - True to Little Blue’s character, he willingly helps in an inconvenient time of need. During a storm at night, he opens his garage to shelter his friends who have been soaked in the rains. It reminds me a little of the qualities shared by Bishop Myriel to Jean Valjean.
SECOND - When the storm has passed rather then staying in his garage, Little Blue drives his friends back to their pens and fields. He could have easily let them go on their own and stay at his home, but he went the extra mile to help. What a great lesson for kids to learn.
THIRD - The animals do express fear about the storm, a common feeling experienced with big storms. If your kids fear storms this story may not help them with that. However, as the friends gather together they start talking about how they are really not so scared of the storm. This is a theme that when we are with our loved ones we can weather storms better than on our own.
FOURTH - this story reminds me a lot of the scene in the Sound of Music when all the children run to Maria’s room during a rain storm at night. Together they overcome their fears, through being together, and the friendship of Maria.
I recommend this book as a good read to learn some valuable lessons. -
Good Night, Little Blue Trucks has grown to be one of my favorite read-aloud books for children. The mix of Jill McElmurry's beautiful illustrations and Alice Shertles constant, funny onomatopoeia, creates a fun story that will leave children wanting more. Little Blue Truck and his friend Toad have to hurry home to get out of the storm. When they get home, they seem to be joined by more and more of their barnyard friends, trying to get out of the thunder crashing. Hen said "cluck" it's wet outside. Pig said "oink", is there room for me? Eventually, everyone gathered around waiting for the storm to pass. Reading this book is so fun to young learners, every animal becomes a new voice and a new sound, and students will begin to read-along with you! I would argue this is also a great story to read before sleep or nap time, or even when teaching weather and storms. The Little Blue Truck books are all sure to leave children excited and ready for more!

This book was suggested by my classmate, Hannah, to read to children who are toddler age. This is an excellent book for this age group. It fosters literacy skills in toddlers by introducing them to rhyme and some new vocabulary. One example is, "Don't care for lightning; stormy nights are a little frightening." This is a great way to introduce a new synonym of the word scared to young children to expand their vocabulary. There is also a lot of onomatopoeia in the book, which would be very engaging for children to participate in the text. For instance, the animals say their animal sounds. This would be an excellent time for the adult to read the animal sound and the "said" and have the toddler fill in what animal makes what sound by looking at the picture. I also enjoy the ending where all the animals are safe and going to sleep. This would be an excellent association for toddlers to read this story before a nap or bedtime. I will be sure to add this story to my shelves!

This book a great story about a toad driving a truck on a farm into the barn because it was storming. Then all of the other animals on the farm ask to join them in the barn to get away from the scary rain. Once the rain is gone, the little blue truck and toad give all the animals a ride back to there place on the farm and everyone says goodnight to each other! This a great bedtime story to read to children. This story has lots of good animal sounds and rhyming throughout the text. The illustrations were beautiful of the farm, dark blue sky/truck, and wonderful animals! This story book teaches children to be kind to all and share your place. Include everyone and be welcoming to all.

Aren't farm animals used to the rain?
The ones who need cover, don't they have pens and barns?
And while thunder shouldn't be scary, lightning should be, right?
And in a lightning storm do you really want to be on top of a metal truck (though at least it has rubber tires)?
And why is Frog driving? I thought this truck drove himself. Did we learn nothing from Sheep in a Jeep?
So many questions.
The original Little Blue Truck isn't bad but I'm not sure we needed a series, here. -
Good Night, Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle is a sweet bed-time story. This book touches on some important topics. For example, the importance of friendship and being there for others to help them get through tough, scary, and challenging times. I enjoyed how this book included onomatopoeias throughout, as well as keeping a fun and entertaining rhythm. I would like to have this book on hand, so that I could read it in my classroom and at home!

Kiddo age 3. Doesn't hold interest.
Not as good as Little Blue Truck Goes To The City. Storm is scary, everyone shares little blue's garage and when storm is done they go back to their own homes. I like the premise it's OK to be scared, everyone gets scared but when you feel better go back to your own bed. Kiddo isn't afraid of storms and that might be why it didn't land.
3/5 for re-readability. -
(5☆ Would recommend & would read again)
So good! I absolutely love the original Little Blue Truck book and I never bought a sequel because I thought they couldn't be as good as the original. My son got this as a gift. It is such a good book! The pictures are colorful and engaging. It encompasses rhyme which is an excellent way for kids to learn. This is a great book for kids to learn not only how to label animals and learn animal sounds, but it os also a cute book about friendship. -
Little Blue Truck and Toad head home into the garage before a storm begins. “Such a wet and stormy night! Their warm garage was a welcome sight.” As the thunder and lightning grows in intensity, animals friends come to join Little Blue in the garage. Little Blue and Toad are happy to take everyone in. “We feel better, Blue. It’s easy to be brave with you.”
A good bedtime story on a stormy night. -
Little Blue Truck and his friend Toad are headed home to their warm garage when they hear pleas from all their farmyard friends to shelter them from the storm. Once inside the garage, everyone is brave. When the storm has passed Little Blue Truck and Toad drive everyone home to their own beds before tucking themselves in for the night.

A storm is coming as Little Blue Truck and his good friend Toad race home. However with the storm raging no one can sleep and they all end up taking comfort with their friend in the barn. When the storm ends Little Blue Truck takes everyone home. Themes of friendship, braving events together, and fear.
