This book is really adorable and fun to read. I love reading short cute books like this book. What was really interesting on how to keep a mouse happy because they want one thing after another. It is really cute. I would recommend this book to anyone. -

I took it out despite the children's librarian on duty said it wasn't ' her thing '. It was sweet as young children's literature, but I think in some ways it would resonate with a lot of adults too. Who doesn't know at least one person who ' you give an inch and he takes a yard ' ? Or beginning a house project only to find something needs doing before you can begin the project and once you do it, something else needs doing and on and on.

More about the world's most demanding rodent. These books continue to be hella popular here at the library, but the formula wears thin for me. I always LOVE
Felicia Bond's artwork, though.
And,the book did make me crave brownies . . . so, there's that. -
I absolutely love this series of books, so you can be sure that I was extremely excited when I learned a few months back that this one was going to be coming out. I just knew I had to get it! I was counting down the months and then the days until I could go out and pick it up.
And I am so glad I went and got it.
Like always, Mouse is up to his normal mischief. Except this time we start it off by giving him a brownie. Then of course he needs something else, and then something else, and then something else...until we come full circle and he finds himself needing another brownie.
Silly Mouse! This new edition to the series is exactly what we have come to expect from Laura Numeroff when it comes to these books. The art work is the same as it always has been, bright and fun. The story follows the same route as all the others. It is just a new adventure for our friend to share with our littles!
This review is based on a copy I purchased for myself. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think this one is my favorite of them all. I appreciate a mouse who doesn't have dialogue and knows how to have fun.
Also: I *just* realized the mouse is a metaphor for a toddler. Yeesh! -
Me, the adult, was mentally EXHAUSTED by this story (which is the point, I think).
My 3-year old granddaughter loves it. -
Another addition to the series about what would happen if... it's cute. And I love brownies :)
-
Our toddlers love it. They ask for the ‘brownie’ book. Their favorite page is the mouse singing on stage.

I didn’t know this book existed until I went to read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie while dressed up as the mouse at the bookstore.
It’s super cute and mouse is up to his usual shenanigans. -
2 stars & 2/10 hearts. This is just frankly dumb to me. The scenarios don’t even follow logically, like
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. -
I can definitely see the appeal of these books for the kiddos, especially as they'll start guessing what that crazy mouse is going to ask for next. (Who starts with a brownie and predicts a rock concert??)
The human in the books has an infinite amount of patience to indulge the little mouse's requests - patience that I'm guessing a lot of humans won't have if their own little ones decide to give it a try... -
My family grew up reading books by this author, it was so fun to discover she'd written some more! And I absolutely LOVE brownies, so it was a perfect way to rediscover our favorite children's author.
The story was classic, and fun, and the pictures so cute and the story so engaging! I want to definitely add this one to my collection! :D -
Better than some in this series, with just the right rhythm and flow. The situations are somewhat ordinary, but I think the author has caught the spirit of the original. An enjoyable addition with few surprises.

The Give a Mouse series is always adorable! -
Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond are back with another edition of their “if you give a..” series. This time the adventure starts with giving a mouse a brownie which sets in motion a series of new requests sending the reader on an adventure keeping the mouse satisfied and ending right back where you started, by giving the mouse a brownie. “If You Give a Mouse a Brownie” is a delightful tale that is very easy to read, even for emergent readers. Each page has no more than three lines of text with many only having one line. The illustrations are colorful and provide just the right amount of detail to show the reader what’s happening in the story. I would argue that many of the illustrations tell the story without the need for text. The illustrations show the chaos and even the frustrations of the child who was just trying to make a new friend by giving this little mouse one of his brownies. Although classified as a pattern/predictable picture book, some of the things that happen next are surprising and a first-time reader may not make the correct prediction. This could surprise the reader as the unexpected continues to happen, or it could frustrate a reader trying to predict, either way it will engage the reader. The pattern is the mouse continuing to ask for more and more things and ensuing chaos of trying to please the mouse would be a pretty accurate prediction.

A mouse is given a brownie, which unexpectedly sets off an entire series of events.
If one gives a mouse a brownie, it will start a chain reaction culminating in his wanting another brownie, which will start the cycle all over again.
This picture book is both a good example of a circular tale and of a slippery slope argument. It also introduces younger readers to the concept of cause and effect as well as the warning if you give someone an inch, s/he may try to take a mile.
The story follows the same formula as
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. -
I didn’t know there were so many books in this series – I’d only read the first two. If You Give A Mouse A Brownie is just as cute as the ones I’ve read. The cause and effect of giving the mouse a brownie takes the reader on a crazy adventure. And the illustrations are just so adorable and fitting for these books. I love all the colors – they’re so…welcoming, so to speak. It’s quite a different experience reading this book as an adult. The mouse comes off as very demanding (comically, sort of, in a way) that it’s no surprise the boy in the story is exhausted by the end. But reading it is still a fun experience.

The book starts with a boy giving a Mouse a Brownie. When the mouse receives his brownie he wants some ice cream to go with it. Once he gets his ice cream he needs a spoon to eat it with. When he gets his spoon he begins to drum. Drumming makes him want to do more things and it begins this whole cycle. It eventually ends up where it started.
This book is a good book that I would suggest to first graders. It's an easy read and isn't too overwhelming and the pictures could help students figure out some of the words from the pictures.
I loved this book and I love all books by Laura Joffe Numeroff -
Genre: Modern Fantasy
Grade Level: PreK - 2
These books are classics. I love the engaging plots and colorful illustrations. Numeroff does a great job engaging the reader and keeping them guessing. Students enjoy this type of entertaining book and so it would be a great addition to a classroom library. It is fairly easy to read, so young readers can enjoy it. Overall I would highly recommend this simple yet fun story. -

Children's literature picture book
Grades K-2
Watch what happens to an adorable mouse when he gets on a sugar high! Illustrator Felicia Bond has created a mouse any child would love to read about. Children can identify with the mischievous mouse as it dreams up things to do after eating the brownie with ice cream. My favorite scene was when the mouse had to stay in the boy's pocket to warm up after getting wet. -
Another well-done story in the series. Some of them seem to have faltered but this one did a good job. The kids were begging to hear it and they visited book fair this week. I do believe this is the first time the book fair has offered the same story in paperback and hardback. We sold out of the paper back in two days.

"If You Give a Mouse a Brownie," is about a young boy who gives a mouse a brownie but it turns it a friendship by the end. The mouse adores the boy but by the end he is exhausted from pleasing the mouse all day with food and supplies. I encourage young readers to read this book because it entertaining and easy to read with realistic illustrations.
