This book is a personal testimony and based upon my religious experience. It is a companion book to Caregiving to Muslims: Guide for Chaplains, Counselors, Healthcare, and Social Workers (Caregiving to Muslims). Caregiving to Muslims provides the basics of Al-Islam, relates Al-Qur’an to selected psycho-socio-spiritual theories, and offers several case studies which apply Paul Pruyser’s diagnostic variables. Qur’anic Comfort and Healing in Contemporary Times, provides the reference Qur’an resource for addressing spiritual, mental, and emotional disorders. Additionally, it offers healing and inspiration for maintaining wellbeing. I recommend daily reading for spiritual peace and healing.
This work is the direct result of several inspired years working with caregivers from various professions. These professions and caregivers include and not limited to: Imams and Islamic Community members, chaplains, counselors, healthcare and social workers, mental health workers, substance abusers, and persons seeking a fuller understanding of the religion of Al-Islam.
Although I intend the book for persons giving spiritual and emotional care to Muslims, there are people who cherish general religious material who may find it of interest. The chapters on the spiritual roots of addiction, and terrorism may be of particular interest in these very trying times. It is my prayer that this book will help non-Muslims to discover the joy that comes from the wonderful and exciting experience that is Al-Islam, submission to joy and peace.
