It's a cycle! Me is tired.
Another one bites the dust, AGAIN!
The audiobook is ok. The story on the other hand is Cringy, dialogue stilted. I am all for the Daddy/ boy kink, age-play, but here issa no-no.
Don't tell me! Show me! I mean, give me the Money Shot!! -

Not a good start.
Have I read the same book as all the others??
Everything felt so flat and constrained.
It was basically just telling and not showing.
I am out.
Peace! -

Good comfort read.
-------------------
Age play, daddy kink, I just love it. I love how the daddy takes care of the boy and how the boy can just let everything go.
There was a bit too much tell and not enough show at first, but I was glad to see that it got better as I read on.
Derek never expected the band he and his best friend started would go somewhere, but now he’s suddenly a famous country singer. He wasn’t in the closet before but now he suddenly is, and he doesn’t like it.
When he and his bandmates go ‘undercover’ one night, he meets Colt at the bar they’re at. Colt has no idea who he is, and Derek wants to keep it that way.
The two spend a hot night together, with some dominance thrown in, but nothing too heavy.
When Colt escorts his little sister to a concert the next evening, he never expects to see Derek on stage as the lead singer.
The two meet up after the concert and both agree that what they have could be something special and not just a hookup. And even though Derek got some ‘Daddy’ vibes off Colt, he’s not sure Colt would want not just a lover but a boy.
Luckily Colt is a true Daddy Dom and loves it if Derek would be his little boy….
This didn’t just have daddy kink, this had full on age play. And I loved it. Derek really needed a daddy who would take care of him. And Colt knew just how to get Derek to relax.
This had no relationship angst and I loved that it was mostly clear of any drama. There is some at the end when Derek gets outed, but nothing too bad.
This was a lovely age-play book with lots of hurt/comfort moments.
(I do have to say that I don't think I will be reading the other books. The age play kept me interested, but the writing style was kind of mediocre...) -
I really liked this story. And that's saying something since I love action/mystery type of books most of the time. This was neither but it captured my interest with it's refreshing narrative and a unique perspective on age play. I didn't know what to expect but Derek and Colt were so beautiful together both as boyfriends and Daddy and his little that I could not help myself but love them.
Derek is a rising country music star and his whole life is under public scrutiny. The fact that he had to go back in the closet is almost enough to send him into a tail spin but a random meeting with one sexy sheriff changes everything. He finds someone he can trust and completely let go with. Colt is a man who knows what he wants and he can't believe his luck when he meets a young man who seems to push all his buttons. One night is all they have but the intense connection that flares up between them is strong enough to try and figure out if they can be together.
Ms Marie wrote about age play in such a way that made so much sense, that gave me understanding of how it works for both Daddy and his boy, about what mind set it brings out and what exactly it accomplishes. Some moments were very sweet and some were amusing but the dynamics between Colt and Derek was always so clear while they were playing that I got a sense of satisfaction and happiness rolling off of both MCs. It was tangible. There were no villains or plot twists but this book didn't need any of that. It was so engaging while simply exploring all the possibilities and all the feelings Derek and Colt had for each other. And the intimate moments between them made it even better - so wonderfully written and steamy hot.
This was a feel good kind of book for me. There were some topics discussed such as coming out to family and public, kink and ABDL, homophobia. This author did a wonderful job on all of them. I highly recommend it to even those who are not into reading Daddy kink simply because of how Ms Marie wrote it - it was an absolute joy to experience. I will definitely read more of her works!
** ARC provided by Leslie Copeland for my honest review ** -
2.5 stars.
It was okay. Nothing outstanding but nothing was bad. -
Readers new to age play will definitely enjoy the slower pace and sweetness of At Home. There’s plenty of kink for fans of the genre, and Carly Marie establishes a nice connection between the main characters.
I also enjoyed the Southern flavor in At Home. This is a culture in America that I know very little about, so it's fascinating to see the way the author addresses issues like how the different families accepted their sons’ coming out.
The audio is performed by Bolton Hill. His warm, southern twang works well for these guys. The voice he uses for the daddy, Colt, is good and suits the older man. I would have liked a more pronounced difference for when Derek is in little mode though.
Honestly, while At Home took a wee while to warm up, once it got going I definitely enjoyed it.
an audiobook copy of At Home was provided to me for the purpose of my honest review -
A generous 3 stars of sweetness
At Home by
Carly Marie is a low angst, sweet and mild kinky , MM romance.
It falls on the lite Daddy/Boy kink, Age Play , Age Gap romance , that in my opinion , it the perfect introduccion to new readers of this trope . As isn't explicit and/or overwhelming on details . Book is all more telling than showing kind of way.
Storyline: 2.5
Heroes: 2.5
Heat level : 2
Angst: 2
Sweet level: Diabetic Coma
Romance: 2.5
If you want dip a toe in the water of Daddy/Boy kink , I recommend reading this book. -
Audiobook Review
I have been hesitant about this audio only because I have not listened to this narrator before but I'm glad I got it, I liked the narration.
Ok so having read every Carly Marie book, it was only natural to do my re read in audio.
Anyways, in here we have Sheriff Colt and lead singer of a country band, Derek. These two meet by accident at a bar and it was instadaddy.
I loved the way they naturally fell into the Daddy/boy lifestyle and yes this one has age play and it was lovely.
This does have a forced outting which I always hate, in real life and in books.
Bolton Hill did a great job and I'm looking forward to listening to him for the rest of the series. -
Liked it
3.75* rounded up. Read this purely out of curiously after seeing a rec and was pleasantly surprised. It's my first Daddy/little and mostly I came for the rockstar/hot cop, both of which worked pretty well I thought. For me the writing could have been a little tighter and there were a couple of things I wasn't buying, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the story and I'll be reading the rest in the series for sure. I think the thing I really loved about this was how the author got across the deep affection between the characters. -
4.5 Stars
This was a cute und light hearted story. I enjoyed reading about these two men falling in love and Derek discovering his little side was a joy to read as well. I love that in the way Colt gave Derek this safe space, Derek was able to let himself fall and therefor get through stressful times much better. These two were honestly so cute together.
This whole story was super fluffy and very low-angst or more like no angst.
Books like this are feel good books for me and I hope the next in the series will be as good and cute too. -
I liked this story for the most part. What I think I could've done without was the amount of 'Daddy' references. I get that this story was age-play, but man, Derek called him Colt maybe 10 times...lol The rest of the time it was Daddy. It got to the point where it was almost cringy, which turned it into irritating. We got the point. It was too much.
I loved Colt and how he was with Derek. They really were good for each other.
I'm curious about Derek's brother Ty's story, so I'll continue with the series at some point. I just need a little break from all the Daddy talk. -
I do love me some kinky stuff, especially age play and this book hit the spot. Derek and Colt hit it off right off the bat and are so great together.
I loved how their needs complemented each other and how much support Colt was to Derek when he needed it. I felt for Derek when the stress and schedule was overwhelming him but it was amazing how just one day of letting it all go helped him to center and be ready to face the problems the next day, we all have something that does it but Colt did it for him.
I look forward to more of these books and can’t wait to see what other kinks the author brings out.
Bolton Hill did a great job on the narration, I thought the voices he used were perfect for the characters and was glad he did go to the extreme with them as many I have listened to lately have. His reading also didn't run together so it was easy to keep track of the story. This is a book that I read not too long ago so it was nice to just let the story wash over me.
I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review. -
Początek był słaby, przyznaje, ale to co działo się później, o la la. Coś dla mnie, age play, różnica wieku i daddy kink. Jak ja lubię takie książki, książka numer 2 dla mnie obowiązkowa.

I just couldnt do it anymore. It wasnt sexy, unique, or interesting enough to keep me hooked. -
This is my first time reading age play and I must admit this was the perfect place to start!
It was brilliant!! I didn’t know what I was going to think before I started. I went in with an open mind and I loved that Derek was also new to the lifestyle. The way that he describes so many of the emotions he was going through was the best. It helped to explain more about how both Colt & Derek we’re feeling during their relationship.
I really loved this book the characters were well developed and I loved the secondary characters. I can’t wait to read more. I’m sooo looking forward to Ty & Declan’s book. -
I wasn’t ready!!!!!!!! My first dip in daddy kink. Ahhhhh. It said mild bdsm. I’m good with that. Daddy kink. Wow. Let’s just say this girl is doing research now. Overall good story. Was insta love so be prepared for that, but my biggest thing was the daddy kink. I can’t decide if I’m down with it or not. I get it. So there’s that, but some parts of it.... enjoyed colt and Dar’s relationship, the side characters were good too.
Sorry this review isn’t the best, but it’s my first view of this different life style so hopefully you will forgive me for not having the right worlds to respond. I am going to read the next book if that shows how much I liked this one. -
A good listen, kept me entertained and the story flowed.
-
DNF at the point the story stopped and the explaining of age play started.
Narration was good. -
Love, love, loved this story about a country music star finding his home with an older sheriff! Derek and Colt are both such intriguing characters and their dynamic is sexy and a bit kinky from the very first night they meet. My heart ached for Derek and how badly he needs what he hasn't been able to find, but Colt is the perfect daddy for him and I really enjoyed experiencing them exploring the little relationship together. I thought the kink aspect of this story was done really well and thoroughly, which is a necessity for me in books where kink is a factor, and I applaud Carly Marie for the way she portrays the Daddy/boy relationship throughout the book. The sex is hot and relationship so sweet, you can practically feel the love between these guys pouring off the pages. I flipping love Derek's younger brother Ty (that conversation about kink he has with Derek, LOL!) and I cannot wait for his and Declan's story. I am also excited to see how Derek and Colt are doing in future books. This may be the first book I've read by this author, but I can guarantee it will not be the last!
-
This book was cute.. A younger country singer and an older sheriff... Instant attraction, right off the start with some lighter kink included. I liked how well the author seamlessly introduced the Daddy/Little aspect of this book. It was well done and not totally in your face extreme, with some light ABDL included. Just perfect for this book and these characters. I loved the Dynamic Derek and Colt had, and I loved how well Colt took care of Derek as soon as see saw him struggling and needing some direction, but he wasn't overbearing about it and that made this story great.
Audio - My first time listening to this narrator Bolton Hill, but I think he did an absolutely amazing job when it came to Derek, especially when he was "little" I did get lost in the story a few times and had to do some re-winding but that happens occasionally and shouldn't reflect bad on the narrator or author, I think they both did a commendable job with this book and I enjoyed it. -
Eye Opener
At Home was an eye opener for me. I've been reading M/M books for years as well as D/s role play. A few Daddy/ little as well but the author brought out the fantasy with Derek and Colt.
The overall plot and the storyline were relatively simple . Derek is an upcoming singer who is finding it hard to deal with he pressure when he falls for Colt.
This couple and their fantasies were hot together. While this type of relationship isn't for everyone it worked for them.
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series -
Loved it!!!
This the first time reading a book by Carly Marie but it won't be the last. I loved this story about a little and his Daddy Dom. Colt and Derek were perfect together. They were exactly what the other needed. I can't wait to read the next book that's going to be about Derek's younger brother and his best friend. I read this book using the Kindle Unlimited program. -
4.5. Extremely well done. Not a huge fan of ABDL, or the famous musician trope for that matter, but this kept my interest till the end. Of special interest to me was that the author nailed the fact that a Daddy CAN switch positions with his boy in the bedroom once in a while, while still being a Daddy AND still being dominant! Thank you! None of this 'you can be the Daddy now cause I feel like bottoming'. No sir! I loved it! One of the best Daddy books I've read in a minute. I loved Colt as a Daddy and loved Derek as his boy.
-
This book is not for me. It is fine on all aspects but I'm not into age play at all and though I respect it I found myself zoning out a lot here because a lot of the age play stuff was hard to read for me. Otherwise decent book but just not my thing.
-
2,5-Stars
The book started out great. But maybe it shoulda have been stated how very little the little is going to be...
Sorry I'm out at Diapers.
At times unrealistic. -
A DNF at about 30% - This was a solid nope, nope, nope, nope and NOPE!
-
I’m fine with Daddy kink, but I’m not a huge fan of age play, so
At Home is not the perfect book for me. That said, while it was pretty insta-love, it was nicely done. I came across Derek and Colt in another of
Carly Marie’s books, so I was happy to read their story.
