Alpha businessman Carter Christian knows he's somewhat of a recluse, but he likes living out in the country with only the rare visitor. When his best friend and business partner suddenly asks him to house his omega son--a son Carter never even knew about-- for a short time, Carter is shocked, wary, and intrigued all at the same time. Omegas are rare, and until then, Carter had never met one. For his friend, however, he's willing to do it, even though the act requires that Carter take rut suppressants for the duration of the omega's stay.
Nineteen-year-old omega Jackson is tired of being hidden away. His parents plan to mate him to some alpha he doesn't even know, and until then he has to stay with his father's best friend. He finds he doesn't mind the latter so much because Carter listens to him and even tries to help Jackson research omegas. But, all too soon, the time comes for Jackson to mate the strange alpha. Only he doesn't want that alpha--he wants the alpha he's been living with who treats him like a person rather than something to be owned. Jackson doesn't care that Carter's old enough to be his father, but Carter isn't willing to break his friend's trust. Learning his parents may have been right about a government conspiracy against omegas only makes things more complicated for the two men who seem destined to be kept apart.

The Alpha's Forbidden Omega (SOS #1) Reviews

    I LOVED this book!

This had all the wonderful things I want in ABO/Omegaverse stories - strong and protective alpha, sweet virgin omega, delicious chemistry between the two, knotting, scenting, claiming (although I wish we had gotten to read about the marking, it was only discussed), NESTING, and then you also have age gap as a big aspect in this story, which is just the icing on the yummy cake for me.

I loved how Jackson and Carter were together. I loved Carter's protectiveness, how he wanted the best for Jackson right from the start. I love that Jackson was the one to put things out in the open, and I loved their first time together. Sweet, sexy, and perfect.

I am also really interested in the world building here - what exactly IS going on with the omegas in the US, why is the government so interested in them. A lot of ABO'verse, omegas are either revered or ranked lower than trash, so it's interesting to see that in this one the omegas are possibly being eliminated - and for what reason? I also need to know what happened to Ben, one of Jackson's omega friends, and now of course I want to read Maddox and David's full story.

Excellent first story in this series, I really hope there is more soon!

    ***4.5 stars***

Another great book by this author. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see what happens next between David and Maddox. Not to mention what else we might learn about the governments intentions.

This whole book felt like a fever dream
Worse fucking parents ever, Like what!??!
You literally pimp out your fucking son, I've seen pets being treated better, you treat your son as if he was a fucking object.
They're so bad it's so fucking funny 😭😭😭 I literally chuckled at some point at how badly written his parents are, like they were written for shock values purpose only.
Also their conversation and interaction felt so monotone almost there's no expression and emotions in a way they're speaking and
What the fuck happened around the third act of the book the mood of the book just shifted completely and it has a really weird and wild birthing scene dude!!
Also there's a scene where an alpha (Maddox) had to cum on his friend (david) so the government know that he's claimed even tho they barely know each other, that scene was so awkward why am I not clinically insane right now.

The whole premise was great until it completely switch vibes near the end, it couldn't meet up my expectations.

There were so many little kinks in this book that I reallyyyyyyy liked. But I’m not sure why the book as a whole didn’t really work for me.
Going to try book 2 though.

Edit. Ok nope, can’t get into book two at all so maybe just not for me!

    ⭐︎ 3.5 Stars Rounded Up!⭐︎

Overall, a pretty solid Mpreg romance. I really enjoyed the build up to these two getting together, I liked how it actually took its time and showed Jackson, the omega, and Carter, the alpha, falling in love.

I did enjoy the chemistry between these two, and I also liked how the pregnancy wasn't just a footnote at the end of this story. It does happen fairly late, but not so late that it's barely in this story. It is still a pretty significant part of the story.

The strength of their relationship and the Mpreg actually being featured helped me round this up instead of down.

Now, for the reasons I gave this 3.5 stars. It's a few things, mainly that for a title that literally has "forbidden" in it, there wasn't really anything all that much forbidden between Jackson and Carter.

By that I mean that when they finally give in and have sex, they tell Jackson parents - Carter's best friends - the next day. Now, they certainly don't react well, so there is that. But these two didn't have to hide anything, and while the parents didn't like that they were together at first, obviously, it wasn't so bad that it counts as "forbidden", so it didn't quite match up with what the title and premise promised us.

I also do wish the sex had been a little more detailed after the first time. There wasn't much detailed description of their sex together after that, and I was a little disappointed by that. Also, plot wise, I know the overarching plot will be continued in the next book with David, Jackson's friend, but I do wish we had at least found out in this book why the government is taking and maybe killing omegas. Like what is it about unmated omegas that makes them such an apparent threat?

Just for the plot of this singular book, I think it would have strengthened it if we weren't left wondering at the end of this. Just finding out the main reason for omegas going missing would have been good. David's book can still be what it is with us knowing why this is happening.

Instead we're still left with that mystery, and why they allow omegas to stay if they're mated, like Jackson eventually becomes with Carter. What is it specifically about unmated omegas that they might be killing them - or at the very least, capturing them? We don't get that answered in this book and I was left feeling bereft, plot wise.

So I had some problems with this, but overall it was enjoyable and a pretty solid Mpreg romance overall. I was so happy that it did so well with the build up between Jackson and Carter. That really made me enjoy this a lot. Without it, this would have gotten a much lower rating from me.

So if you like Mpreg, I definitely recommend this. It was enjoyable overall and definitely worth a read, even if it could have improved in some areas. It gets a thumbs up from me 🥰

    Another MPREG story! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

    personal PROS,

    1. I really like how this book could have been wayyy more “dramatic” but everything was handled well, and people actually acted like adults.

    2. This mpreg romance has a pretty intriguing plot. I’m still in need of answers and I can genuinely say I am really curious about what’s next.

    3. MPREG! They have a baby and I love it!

    4. The writing was good. I didn’t have any complaints in that department and that’s pretty awesome.

    5. The alpha in this is tender and understanding, he doesn’t jump the omega immediately and claim him.

    personal CONS,

    1. I wanted to see Jackson and Carter’s lives a little more after the baby was born.

    2. I have a lot of questions and the mysterious part of the plot went unanswered, hopefully if there is a next book it’ll get into all of that. If there IS a next book then I guess this isn’t really a con.. even though I doubt the next book will be about Jackson and carter which is sad.. although who knows!

    OTHER STUFF,

Okay I thought some of that pregnancy stuff was a little strange and slightly funny compared to your average mpreg, but hey, it was definitely unique 😂

I think this is definitely a fun read if you like omegaverse stories and a bit of mpreg.

If you like something a little more dramatic and quick paced this might not be for you. While this is definitely not a slow passed story, it is also not a fast paced story. As I said above, the adults in this book act like adults and there isn’t any added drama or miscommunications.

  • Ed Davis

It was ok. This government conspiracy against omegas just didn’t work for me. I doubt I’ll read any more books in this series. I gave it three stars because I did like Jackson and Carter.

  • VVivacious

This book is tonally very different from this author's other works which worked a lot in favour of this storyline. This story has an overarching plot which forms the backbone of this story but isn't resolved in this book. There is a murmur under the surface that something big and bad is abound but, what exactly this big bad is hasn't yet been described so I look forward to where the author will take this series.

This book has a meandering pace that really worked for the romance it showcased. I feel it is essential when tackling a May-December romance that there be a lot of quality time between your main characters before they get together to eliminate any doubts that anyone was/is being taken advantage of. In that sense, this book does a wonderful job of showcasing Jackson and Carter as individuals spending time together because they really come to know each other.

I personally really liked the story because of the amount of development the romance got, that might be, because I have been reading a lot of Rebecca James' pack stories and insta-lust is kind of the norm there so having things be kind of slow was novel for me again mileage may vary on this but I feel like the story while slow is perfectly paced.

I feel like the story was very well handled and I love that we will be getting more. I really loved the absolute focus on the romance it was refreshing and very very hot when it needed to be but at the same time meaningful with no unnecessary conflicts and obstacles.

I really liked this story and was quite enthralled with the characters and their circumstances. It was rather different from what I have read from this author and that in itself was really cool. I really look forward to more.

  • ♥️Victoria ♥️ ♥️love books♥️

A very interesting and different spin to the norm when it comes to non-shifter mpreg books.

I really cant wait to see what unfolds in the next book.

Yes, there were a thew things that did not add up - but for now I will not judge ....

This was an intriguing world, with not many answers, some sexy mating/ heat times and two cute characters. Will prob go into the next one.

  • MC ⛵ Older & Wiser

    MM Omegaverse / Mpreg Romance

    Rated 2.5 stars.
First half = 2 stars. Second half = 3 stars

    Overall I felt like:
Uhm Yikes GIF - Uhm Yikes Eh GIFs

In this world, Omegas are very rare and need to be protected. Jackson (omega) gets sent to stay with Carter (alpha), his dad's friend, who lives in a gated community. There he's to wait until he can be mated to Neil (alpha). While staying with Carter, they slowly bond and eventually mate.

    Problems I had:
    - Slow first half. It was so slow and nothing much happens. There's lots of discussions and questions and info. about omegas. Nothing gets answered by the end. I almost dnf'd before getting to the halfway point. Since I'm trying to break myself of my bad habit of dnf'ing early, I skimmed until I was interested enough to read normally (around the 54% mark).

    - Age discrepancy. I'm hyperaware when it comes to ages, due to wanting to know everyone's ages. At the beginning we're told that Neil is 9 years older than Jackson. Then later it's repeated twice that Neil is only a few years older than Jackson. Then Jackson says that Neil is 7 or 8 years older than him. Seriously, how can you not know the age of the alpha who is supposed to mate you??!

    - Off-page mating ceremony between the MCs. This is like a wedding, and is a big deal. Yet, we're told briefly about it afterwards. This is the second time this author has done this in one of her books. I'm not happy. 😡

    - Carter, the alpha, is not very alpha-like. Even though he bonded to Jackson and is feeling protective/possessive of him, he lets Neil take Jackson into the library to have some one-on-one time. There Neil kisses and gropes Jackson, leaving a love-bite (hickey) on his neck. NO true alpha would have let this happen. 😡

While I did have some major issues with the story, there were some sweet moments later on and it did become more interesting. It still won't be something that I'll remember for long, being on the bland side. I never did feel any connection/love/passion between the MCs.

Edited to add: I thought book 2 was much better than book 1. I recommend getting through this one, and then giving the next book a try.

    ¸.•´¸★*´¨) ¸.•*¨)
(¸.★¨*.¸¸.•`★¤I will say it again and again, omegaverse is like entering the ring with one thought and leaving with another. This is one of the most interesting take on the a/o world and I love it. I cannot imagine the thought and ingenuity that went into building such a world. I have read this author before and she is pretty thorough in her work.

What I liked most about how this book is the set up. Carter was asked to protect his friend and business partners unknown omega son. One, I wanted to know why? What was so special about the omega and why would someone hide them? Two, how would he be protected from an alpha knowing what bringing an alpha and an omega together would entail? Three, which direction would the author take even though the lives involved should never be together?

Despite everything, Carter and the younger Jackson defied all the odds to prove that what was meant to be would be. A delightful start to a new series I am sure to follow. There was sweet romance, forbidden actions, and intrigue as the story developed. I cannot wait for the continuation.

    Another KU read.

What to do when you have a bad day?? You pick up this book to make you steel better!!

It has government conspiracy and a growly and possessive Alpha who only wants to make his omega happy (even before they claim each other).

There’s an age gap, nesting and mpreg occurring too!

Jackson is an omega, a very rare designation in this continent. The omegas are required to be registered and then are taken from their families at the time of their puberty (but the right word but essentially that). The government claims it’s to protect them and give them a good life but said omegas are never seen or heard from again. His father sent him into hiding and now is asking his friend and colleague to house him until he can get an alpha mate for him.

Carter is the friend and colleague. He feels the attraction to Jackson instantly but throughout the time that he’s living with jackson, they actually get to know one another and it’s no longer biology that’s making him attracted to him but his personality.

I loved reading them get close and the cute things they would do together because of their closeness.

A part of me felt the pregnancy happened so fast and I would’ve liked to see them as a defined couple a bit longer without the pregnancy but it didn’t detract from it all.

It ends on a kind of cliffhanger. The love story between Carter and Jackson is complete but the underlying plot of government omega conspiracy is no where near close to being answered.

It is left that way because the next book between Maddox and David literally starts what happens next, so off I go to read that!!

  • Laina Gruver

    4 stars

Every time I read an Omegaverse book I need to remind myself that no 2 authors write it the same way. In this universe, omegas are rare (nearly non existent) in America. There are an abundance overseas but international travel is forbidden. Omegas must be registered through the government and they are nearly irresistible to Alphas.

Carter is asked by his business partner to secretly house (and protect) his omega son who Carter never knew existed. Jackson just turned 19 and his parents had sent him away when he was younger to protect him while they searched for an Alpha to mate with him. Jackson’s future mate is a prominent doctor but due to his busy surgical schedule, won’t be able to mate for a few months so Carter has a beautiful young omega living with him and keeping him company. When Jackson meets his intended, things don’t go quite as planned but could have been worse.

The few omegas that Jackson ‘grew up’ with go missing. The government comes looking and Carter and Jackson bond and then mate, sabotaging Jackson’s parents’ arrangement.

    ***** spoilers ahead*****
We do not discover much about omegas or why the government is tracking them. We find one of Jackson’s omega friends but one is still missing. Carter and Jackson mate and Carter gets pregnant

    *****
    POV… multi first person

Standalone or series… book 1 in series while the couple ends with an HEA, there is a backstory that ends on a cliffhanger **NOT recommended as a standalone **

    Meraviglioso e dolcissimo!
Ho adorato entrambi i protagonisti!

  • Nile Princess

3.5. Good start to the series. The whole omega situation is interesting but I'm less interested in the government aspect than the romance/family aspect. Carter and Jackson were great characters, and I loved the pacing of the romance here. Had a brief moment of frustration when neither of them seemed to have a clue why Jackson was experiencing the symptoms he was...like, really?? But then I realized it would have caught them off guard because of the suppressants. It might have been better for at least one of them say 'Normally I would think it's x, but it can't be because y' instead of having them both be completely clueless at something so seemingly obvious. I also cringed at some of the 'out there' moments and , and Maddox having to mark David in the way he did, which ended up not even being necessary. It felt less sexy and more 'we're doing too much right now'. I sound like a prude here LOL I.am.not :)

I am so worried about Ben, but I cannot wait for Maddox and David's book. I needdddssss it! LOL

  • Deirdre

    Broken Promise
Where are all the Omegas? That's the burning question. When did they become so rare? What would you do if your only child turned out to be born an Omega? What would you be willing to sacrifice? Who could you trust with the information about his existence?

Do you enjoy May December traditional romances? By which I mean a much younger and older man. No Daddy kink. Just a very strong mutual attraction that each fights diligently against.

The author Rebecca James refers to a sinister conspiracy by the government regarding Omegas. I really enjoyed this book. It tested the bonds of friendship. Close proximity can lead to some unexpected consequences. The storyline demonstrates the importance of being loyal even when what's asked of you is extremely difficult. Why it is important to learn to listen to your adult child or an Omega if you are an Alpha parent. I highly recommend this book.

  • Lisa

I read a lot of MM omegaverse and I really enjoyed Rebecca James' take on this world. Carter, an alpha, is asked by his best friend and business partner to host his partner's omega son, Jackson, in his country home while the parents arrange for a mating for Jackson. Jackson's parents have distrusted the government's handling of omegas, a rare portion of the population, and they never registered him. He has lived in safety apart from his parents since age 10. Carter feels the immediate pull with Jackson due to the alluring scent, but both men agree to take suppressors, so they can live together a few months without mating. Despite medications, they feel the pull of attraction toward each other that is more than pheromones. Danger seems to lurk around as they Carter attempts to learn more about possible government interference. This is an exciting and passionate read.

  • Kitty

I really enjoyed this! It had so many things I love: true love, hot sex, omegaverse, and mpreg with a helping of intrigue and mystery.

I really enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. Their happy ending felt earned. I also enjoyed the side characters and the overall world building. I was quite intrigued by the political aspects and curious about what the government was up to.

My only complaint is it was a bit fast paced and abrupt at the end, but I'm hopeful that means we'll get another book in this series and see more of this universe, the other characters, and Carter and Jackson.

  • Anita

Omega, Jackson and Alpha, Carter are thrown together for Jackson's safety and the last thing they expect is a connection between the two of them. In a world where omega's are few and far between, Carter's eyes are opened wide when he meets Jackson. Promised to another alpha, can Jackson go through with his parents plans for him for his safety?

  • Jodi

wow, this was amazing and the type of A/B/O I like to read about. This one has a story, a very intriguing story and I definitely need more. But first, it has all the things I like - strong Alpha's, sweet Omega's, knotting and nesting. I want to know more about the government's agenda about Omega's. Where is Ben? and I definitely want David and Maddoxs' story.

  • Louise

    Interesting

This is a new author and series to me and I have found myself quite intrigued and must read the next book. I found the story and characters enjoyable. There were enough steamy scenes but there was a deeper connection between the two. I recommend giving this book a go if you are into this genre.

  • Karen

    good book

I really liked this book. It’s a different take on the Omegaverse and I like it. Can’t wait to read more of this series and see what is it that the government is trying to do. I felt bad for Ben, hopefully there’s a book for him and we will know what happened. I’ll be reading David’s story right away

  • Elliott Christian

A government plot targeting omegas, an alpha helping his friends and some very good friends. This book tried to do a whole lot in a really short time, the pacing was off for much of the book. I appreciated that the alpha and omega actually got to know each other but they lacked chemistry other than them saying they had it.

  • Diana

    Write the next one fast!

I’m on fire to read the sequel! Government conspiracies! Sweet romance! Even some pets! I really enjoyed this book, and there’s closure in the main relationship, but oh boy do I need more!

  • Jay Purse

    Great

Awesome start to this series... I am surprised people are not giving this 5 Stars... The characters are unique and unexpected... The storyline is strong and will allow for growth in future books... Everything is looking good for more world building and strong growth...

  • Amy

Loved this story, it was a new twist on the omegas and alphas. I loved Carter and Jackson, and I’m really looking forward to Maddox’s story.
