Half Boy. Half God. ALL Hero.
Most people get presents on their sixteenth birthday. I get a prophecy that could save or destroy the world.
It happens when you're the son of Poseidon, God of the Sea. According to an ancient prophecy, I turn sixteen and the fate of the entire world is on me. But no pressure.
Now Kronos, Lord of the Titans, is beginning his attack on New York City. And the dreaded monster Typhon is also heading our way. So it's me and forty of my demi-god friends versus untold evil...
Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian (Percy Jackson: The Graphic Novels #5) Reviews

This GN was the best out of the series.
It tried giving us a little more of that emotional attachment to the characters the other GNs omitted. Even though, in my opinion, it came a little late.
The art was beautiful and I even found a funny little Easter Egg!
I read these graphic novels to once again familiarise myself with the story so I would be better prepared before reading The Heroes of Olympus series. However, so much of the world/character building was left out or was altered that I’ll probably be more confused than informed. -
titular dialogue:
26%: Hestia: I am the last Olympian.
I've already forgotten that Hestia's the titular last Olympian, hah.
This was already epic in the original prosaic form. Too bad Disney had to step in and take the reins from Rick. -
Dang I loved this series as a kid. I still love this series for introducing me to Greek mythology. How did I not know about the graphic novel for the final book sooner?

3 Stars | Bad Shortening
It's hard to change a 375-page book into 128 pages.
Here's a pic of a page in the book:
I'm sorry, but those battles took WAY longer and were WAY harder than just what is shown there.
This went on and on for the entire book. I'm sorry, this was a big problem for me, and this is why I didn't like this book.

There may have been some minor issues with the last edition of the graphic novel adaptation series of Percy Jackson, but otherwise WOAH, I stand by my statement that if the films were exactly like the graphic novels, they honestly wouldn't disappoint (but standards are also pretty low lol). The art is better than the last 4, the emotions were there, and the action was awesome. But, like I said, it has some issues...
*spoilers below*
The emotions were there, but the pacing was off because of how fast everything had to go so the full impact was never really there. The most emotional moments had to be squished in to make sure everything important can be shown.
This is a minor detail, but the detail of the deceased campers' camp necklaces around the minotaur horns was missing. I remember getting literal chills the first time I read the scene (and every reread since) and Percy's fury feels so just.
Dionysus did not tell Percy to watch out for his son. Sad to see that not in there
And lastly, but most importantly, THERE IS NO UNDERWATER KISS???!! I understand and forgave not having the volcano kiss in BotL but NO ICONIC UNDERWATER KISS?? THAT IS SUCH A MISSED OPPERTUNITY
Otherwise I fully recommend the graphic novel series for people who have read the series and need a refresher. But, if you are thinking about starting with the graphic novels, go ahead, but you're missing out on a lot of good content. -
3.5
Like I know they can’t have all the book in this but I still feel like they cut out my favorite parts. Also I liked the art style but I wish they keep it consistent(from the other graphic novels). -
Estupendo todo. Los personajes, los fondos, las ilustraciones, las peleas, los dioses, las emociones, RED, Percabeth, todo.
Fue bueno ver cómo continuaron con el estilo anterior, dándole un toque más fresco a la historia. -
its good to see the characters illustrated
-
The illustrations were really detailed and well-drawn, but personally, I liked the original novel better.

4.5/5.

I have had this book on hold since March 27!!!!! Thank god it came in. I did really enjoy it. It left out some parts I was mad about (the underwater kiss) but overall it was pretty good. I just love Percy. If you're missing him I definitely recommend picking this up. I still cried at the parts where Beckendorf and Silena died, but whatever. If you like/love Percy come talk to me in the comments. :)

I liked it, but the graphics were a little too chaotic for my taste.

I finally finished the series! I loved the vivid coloring throughout the book and the fun details the illustrators added (i.e. "Riordano's Pizzeria" during the battle in Manhattan). I've been in a terrible reading slump due to exams so hopefully this book helped me get out of it 🥴

I think The Last Olympian is the favorite of many people, myself included. There was so much action and deaths :( but I loved actually getting to see it all. There were so many monsters in this one and it was great to get those visuals.

I think I've figured out one of the reasons I don't like these graphic novels adaptations: they don't really hold the entire story, just the main plot (and even then there's stuff taken out). I mean, Battle of the Labyrinth and The Last Olympian have a much more appealing art style in my opinion, but that doesn't really make up for the fact that a healthy chunk of the story is still missing.
For this book, it started with Rachel and Percy hanging out and Percy thinking or talking about the fact that he's now sixteen, so on top of whatever mysterious prophecy he is destined to fulfill, he also can now drive. Hooray for Percy and his driving. Unfortunately, this hangout is interrupted by Charles Beckendorf (rip) on Blackjack landing on Paul Blofis' Prius (i'm so glad i can remember these insignificant details and not anything genuinely important) and telling Percy that it's go time on their super special secret plan. Rachel kisses Percy (on the cheek or something, which of course led to years of fandom-wide Rachel-hating because why not), and Charles is all '👀 Annabeth better not find out', because in Battle of the Labyrinth, Annabeth kissed Percy. If you just read the graphic novel, you wouldn't know that, because it was completely glossed over, for some reason?
But in this book, it starts when Percy and Charles are already on the boat, towards the end of the (failed) mission, and it's like boat... luke.... kronos... charles... water... rachel kiss?... percy sad... silena sad... and so on. It's super vague, what even was going on in the beginning? Tell me how exactly a person reading that with no context is supposed to understand that. It's ridiculous.
There are some things in the book that I did like. For example, I thought it was funny when Nico was all like "You've never shadowtraveled before?" like no Nico, Percy has not shadowtraveled before. Where would he have gotten the chance. I know you're trying to win over his heart and everything but you gotta try to think these things through.
That might have been the only thing I really remember enjoying in this story though. Hm. Weird.
Anyway, it continues glossing over points, to continue using Nico as an example, there's this whole thing where he's trying to figure out what happened to his mom. He tries to bargain with Hades to find out more, and Hades is all "Yea sure, but you gotta bring Percy Jackson here and then I'll spill the deets" (the tea, if you will. i won't, because can you imagine hades saying 'spill the tea'? hell no)
Nico then proceeds to do as Hades says, getting Percy to go into the Underworld (I think around the time he took a plunge in the River Styx, but it's been a while since I've read the books) and then the Furies snatch up Percy, throw him in Underworld jail, and Hades tells Nico nearly nothing about his mom, (partially because Persephone was standing nearby all like >:( because that's what happens when you talk to your illegitimate son about an affair you had with a mortal several decades ago in front of your wife. She kinda gets a little >:( ) and Nico snatches Percy out of Underworld jail, Percy does the Styx thing, (i think. again, i haven't read the book in years, so i could be wrong) and the story goes on.
But the graphic novel only shows Nico taking Percy to the Styx, Percy getting a power up, and beating up Hades' forces. The graphic novel does not give a shit about Nico and his problems.
The book kinda goes on jumping over smaller events in favor of the larger, over-arcing story, which I suppose is fine, but part of the reason I like some of the smaller events is that it helps humanize the characters a little more. Percy trying to comfort Silena about Charles' death and eating her dad's cardboard-flavored bonbons (because he had nothing against cardboard) helps humanize Percy and Silena.
Basically what I'm saying is that these graphic novel adaptations and the characters in them feel like cardboard cutouts of the actual story itself, which although is not perfect, does kinda humanize the characters. So that's something. -
Nice adaptation! I wish the final battle scenes weren't rushed but in general I enjoyed this graphic novel! I like how the humor was still included and I liked the illustrations.
-
So I had planned on rereading all of PJO last semester but didn't end up getting to The Last Olympian over winter break as I had originally planned but here we are, we finally made it, TRIUMPHANT
A glorious end to a glorious series, I think the graphic novel versions are gorgeous (a definite improvement from the titan's curse), I'll never not love Percy Jackson. -
It's missing a lot from the book, but for a graphic novel this was amazing! The books are some of my favorite and now getting to read them in graphic novel form and seeing the artwork just made me feel so happy to be back with the demigods. ❤️❤️
-
A strong finish, I'm genuinely impressed. Most of the major points were here, and out of the ones that weren't I'm oddly relieved that they were left out. The art is the standout here, it's so fluid and fits so well with the atmosphere of a big final battle. A great one, for sure.
-
Alright much better!!! Had the humour, had great battle scenes, loved the characters. This was a great conclusion and I've had fun with these books *sighs*
I recommend if you're a fan of the series and want to consume them in easy bites -
Ooooooo!!!! So so so Gooooood!!!!!!! They really did finish it out right!
-
The best graphic novel adaptation in this series. Solid conclusion. ~3.7/5
-
The illustrations were nice, I wish it had been a bit longer and contained more of the original novel.
-
I loved loved loved reading this comic!!! It was amazing!
-
What an epic ending!
-
Definitely the best of the Percy Jackson graphic novels that I read on a whim all in one sitting.

no underwater kiss 💔
