Zetta the Poinsettia Reviews

Poinsettias are beautiful, no matter what color In decoration. I loved this story about one that was used year round and was so happy to see she was not tossed after the holidays!
I agree; they brighten a room and are gorgeous no matter the season. Just don’t feast on one with your cat!

Really enjoyed this. The book is beautifully illustrated and perfect for reading aloud to children or for letting new readers explore the story. Wonderful

    Great illustrations educational story

A great story to teach children about poinsettia plants. I’ve never had success keeping this plant alive after the holidays. The author inspires me to try again. The illustrations are exceptional. Kids will loved the detailed pics.

FOR SHE STILL HAD REASON TO BE

This is a sweet and simple Christmas story about a poinsettia named Zetta who will be bought by a family, and placed on the mantle with other Christmas decorations. She is so proud to be in her element, and part of the decorations.

But what happens when the family is removing the tree, and other decorations? Will Zetta be tossed aside too?

The fun facts at the end of the story are interesting.

Great book for holidays or anytime

Alma's tale of the lonely poinsetta is a great tale for the holidays or anytime. The author thoughtfully included facts about pointsetta that can prompt great discussion. Zetta's story can also prompt deeper discussion about reusing items, eliminating wastefulness, and even holiday spirit.

I fell in love with Zetta the Poinsetta because of the great story and the gorgeous Illustrations.

The value of all living things

This is an adorable rhyming story, with cheerful illustrations, that teaches the value of all living things. We all have purpose and gifts- even a little Poinsettia!

Zetta the Pointsettia is a lovely tale about a flower who longes that someone will take her away from the shop. She is thrilled of happiness when she arrives at a warm home where preparations are done for the holiday season. But then Christmas is over and all decorations are stored up till the next year. What will happen to Zetta the Pointsettia? You will find out in this amazing picture book. But let me tell you something more, the illustrations are so vivid, and beautiful, that only looking at them, brings a smile on your face.

Another gem from author Alma Hammond. Zetta the Poinsettia is an adorable story about a beautiful plant that grows and thrives. I thought the book was beautifully crafted with pictures and words. My 7yo loved the positive message and sweet rhyming. My 4yo loved the vivid and bright illustrations. This is a book I would read to them again and again, even after the holidays.

What a cute little book with a unique theme and lovely message. A beautifully illustrated Christmas story for children.

Zetta, a beautiful poinsettia flower wonders her place in life as it is purchased, displayed during Christmas and her life after the holidays.

Zetta is an adorable character in which the illustrations work together with the writing to make her even more likable. It is hard not to wish Zetta a long life because is so happy to be displayed like the other ornaments.
Poinsettias were a big plant in my grandmother’s house at Christmas time. We would buy her white or red poinsettias she would display during the winter season. Zetta had a better life than the flowers my grandmother had. I am not sure any of us thought to plant the poinsettia in the yard after the holidays. This book reminds me of good times at my grandmother’s and sad for the flowers I could have preserved better.

I could see Zetta’s story producing a sequel or series of books. I think older toddlers and on will enjoy the story of Zetta the Poinsettia.

This is a beautifully illustrated perfect for the holiday season book. I really enjoyed this beautifully written story about a gorgeous flower that is good for all seasons.
Zetta was lonely at the store. She wanted a house and family. A little girl was looking at her and then they put her in the cart. Then she went home , then to her throne, the middle of the fireplace mantel. With eat day Zetta let out a happy gasp, gift wrap was crackling, hot chocolate was lapping and fires a snapping. One day everything was gone. The tree left by the front door. Zetta wondered what would happen with her. Would she go by way of the tree, out the front door? You get to do the turning. Turning of the pages to see what happens and to see the wonderful pictures for beautiful dreams you will have.
I borrowed this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.

A very colourful little book, but I found it somewhat difficult to read with it rhyming and then not rhyming style, and I am not sure children would take to it. Because of the many bright colours, children under two would probably like it in a hard cover style. I can't see it as a book that children would ask for regularly, but I could see it as being popular in Libraries as a Christmas book, and as a book for parents to dig out every year to introduce children to Poinsettias and why they have become such a popular Christmas plant. My husband doesn't feel like he has finished his Christmas shopping until he arrives home with the bright, red Christmas Poinsettia.

I do try to save mine and keep them growing all year. I have been successful a few times but certainly not every year. I thought the facts in the back of the book were interesting for adults.

🖊 My review: Sometimes a short story is just right to read during the holidays.
Zetta the Poinsettia is no exception. I like the cuteness of this story and the section in the book that gives facts about the plant.

    🔥 Dénouement: Upbeat.

🖋 The writing style: Simple and intelligent.
🗝 What I learned: Poinsettias are adorable – at least in this book!

    🤔 My rating 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
◼️ Fun fact: I like poinsettias.

    A Christmas flower Adventure!

In the story a poinsettia was lonely and wanted to go home with someone for the holidays. A little girls took her home and the poinsettia was able to go through all stages of Christmas and the holidays. But then things started to go away or be put outside and she was worried that she was going to get thrown away as well. And something magical happened! But I'm not going to say ... that's for the reader to find out. The story was well written and easy for young early readers to follow along with. Parents will also be able to read the story to younger children and have them follow along with the pictures.

.On the twenty-first day of the month of September
In an early year of a decade not too long before our own
The human race suddenly encountered a deadly threat to its very existence
And this terrifying enemy surfaced, as such enemies often do
In the seemingly most innocent and unlikely places
Little shop, little shop of horrors
Little shop, little shop of terror
Call a cop, little shop of horrors
    No, oh-oh, oh no

    So touching!

Another inspiring story from my children’s favorite author. We can barely wait for Alma’s stories, as they bring a bit of magic into our classroom. Depth, feeling, magic and exceptional illustration are the keywords describing this book and the author’s entire work. Highly recommended.

Is a poinsettia only for Christmas?

This story was a cute “day-in-the-life-esque” telling that pulls the poinsettia from a flower just for Christmas to a plant that is here year round. Also, the fun facts at the end was my favorite part! For example, December 12 is national Poinsettia Day and apparently has been for a very long time.

  • LaSheba Baker

Charming Holiday Story! Zetta enjoys the holiday season but fears what will happen to her once the festivities are over. A charming storyline and cute illustrations.

At the back of the book are fun facts, such as: "Dr. Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, introduced the plant to the U.S. in 1828" (kindle loc. 15).

  • Sandy

This touching little story tells of the importance the Poinsettia feels being a part of Christmas. As decorations are put away and discarded, I love that the Poinsettia is concerned she is going to "go the way of the tree". Hilarious and also nice that the Poinsettia has a bigger and longer purpose.

Another delightful children’s book by Alma Hammond! Beautifully illustrated and easy to read, children and adults will enjoy this holiday book with a beautiful message. Great educational, fun facts at the end also. A wonderful gift for the kids in your life.
