Who Was Neil Armstrong? Reviews

I read it along with an audio from Scribd. Because of that, this book was easier to understand that the others that didn't have audio available for me here in Brazil. After Neil Armstrong reached the moon, the text ended soon and the final was abrupt. That's why I didn't give it 5 stars.

Very good book
This was a book to get a personal look at the life of this man an astronaut. Sometimes we forget they have a personal life like we do with the same problems and stresses. I did learn a lot from this. -
I give this book only 3 starts because I don't like reading about space. But I read this book because it was time I read more non-fiction. It was great that Neil Armstrong took the risk to go all the way to the moon. It's awesome that he was the first one to set foot on the moon.

It wasn't bad, it's just impossible to rate.

Not knowing anything about Neil Armstrong besides his famous quote, I had a lot of fun learning about him.
He always wanted to be a pilot and fought in the Korean War with honors. After he was married but before he joined the space program his daughter died. Reading between the lines, it seems that it was a very tragic moment for him, but he didn't let it stop him.
While he was training for space, his house burned down. I don't know why but that fact really got to me. It's just so shocking and random. The other astronauts lived nearby and one ran to help. That astronaut later died in a fire. Very sad.
While reading I thought a lot about the guy flying the space ship while Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. I felt kind of bad for him because he gets forgotten. I even had to go look up his name again. His name is Michael Collins.

The great part of my spring this year is reading the series of Who Was.. I enjoyed so much to read so many about the history of fly & space, get to know that both of wright brothers and Neil Armstrong are both from Ohio and their museums about an hour from whomever live @Columbus, be proud Ohioan 😊
I was glad to get the chance right I finished the books to visit The National Air&Space museum @DC 🤗 -
This was my biography book. It was a quick read. It was a very interesting book with lots of great information about the United States and the Soviets battling to get a man to space and to the moon. It also had a lot of information about Neil Armstrong. Like how he was in the army and how he became an astronaut. It is a great book and I recommend it.

Good book for elementary students or ESL students to dive into longer biographical works. This is more of a short story than a book due to the brief length. The black and white illustrations support the text well to keep a new reader engaged. For an experienced reader, this book will be a bit dry and very short.

My son really enjoyed this book, we learned lots of information. My kids read many space books, especially about Apollo 11, and very few mention Michael Collins. I was pleasantly surprised that this children's book included him.
The book also has great illustrations and diagrams, as well as mini information pages about other missions and people. -
These little books divulge a lot of information, stuff that was classified at the time. They didn't share much of anything with "Joe Public" and some people still think it was a televised stunt in a studio. This was before color televisions. We all saw it in black and white.

I read this with my daughter and she loved it! She wants to be an astronaut when she grows up. She was very inspired and so was I. It was very well written. There was tragedy in his life but he was also very resilient and persevered. Highly recommend for young children.

Really enjoyed this book

I think Neil Armstrong's life was pretty interesting. But most people only know he was the first man on the moon. And his training for the Apollo 11 mission was pretty cool.

"Who was Neil Armstrong" is a biography all about the life of Neil Armstrong written by Roberta Edwards. Born on August 5th, 1930 in an Ohio farmhouse, Neil had always been fascinated with airplanes and flying. His first flying was on a Tin Goose airplane when he was just 6 years old. Neil went on to attend Purdue University on a Navy scholarship meaning he was to serve in the Navy after college. While in the Nav, Armstrong began to fly planes and he went on to graduate from flight training school. In a few years, Neil had settled down with a wife and kids but, the space race called his name. Neil Armstrong became one of the nine chosen by NASA to become an astronaut. I would tell you what happens next, but I'm afraid I would be spoiling the book...
I really enjoyed this book. I've had always been a fan of space travel and a dream job of mine is to become an astronaut just like Neil Armstrong. So, I would recommend this book to anyone who also is a fan of space travel, this book was really fascinating to me and I'm sure others like me would enjoy it as well. -
I am not a huge fan of history but this book did tell me information on a big thing of history that made me enjoy it a little bit more. I wish I had liked the book a little bit more but I was hoping for more information on the actual moon landing and maybe there is a book similar to this one that just focuses on the moon landing.
The book does start out with when Neil was born and a little bit about his up bringing and his passion for planes. What I love about books in this series is they have pages discussing things in history. So there was a page on the first air plane and there was a page about the Korean war. It continues to talk Neil's adult life with a wife and kids and his career choices and then it talks about the NASA program. Again I wished there was more in depth about his training programs. It then goes on to actually talk about his moon landing and then it ends very fast after that, not giving much detail about his life after the moon landing. Over all this has not been a favorite for me.
