Not for many years has there been such a divisive issue as Brexit, and like all divisive issues it has provided a bonanza for cartoonists. This generous selection of pocket cartoons captures the sheer bewilderment and exasperation which have bedevilled us all since the referendum. Some of the cartoons favour one side or the other, but most celebrate (or at least commemorate) a period of unique bafflement. With the emphasis much more on ordinary people than on the politicians, The Penguin Book of Brexit Cartoons will bring together at Christmas-time even the most riven families.

The Penguin Book of Brexit Cartoons Reviews

  • Gareth Howells

Not very funny - shockingly obvious jokes - disappointing

  • Maud

Some of them were pretty funny, others I didn't really understand.

  • Debalina

It made me smirk and chuckle a few times. Some I did not understand. But this makes me want to understand Brexit. I know many people who would disagree with the validity of the previous statement.

    Happy reading! :)

  • Joe Stickley

Read in a 15/20 minute sitting, made me chuckle once or twice. To be put on the read pile and never looked at again.

  • Hannah

I don’t know if it counts as reading but I thoroughly enjoyed these. Gorgeous cover too - like a particularly lovely memento from a really really shit holiday.

  • Andrea Swinsco

an interesting mix of Leave and Remain cartoons. It would have been nice to have had a bit of context though, maybe the headlines of the day that had inspired the cartoon.

  • hollyisodd

    2.5

  • Martin Bainbridge

Bordering (if you pardon the pun) on terrible.

102 cartoons, of which four (#84, #88, #98 and #101; so it was a long wait) almost made me smirk.

#47 and #71 are virtually identical (and not particularly funny).

you can hardly call this 'reading' and if i'm honest, like most other people who picked this up, i did so out of pure denial that such a level of satire could possibly be reality. but here we are.
