Meg has just learned her brother Riley is alive, and she’s determined to have a relationship with him. But he’s not budging from his life with his temporary guardian next door.
Kade is the guardian, who doesn’t trust Meg, thinking she wants money, not her brother. But, when she moves into her Dad’s house with Riley and works to win him over, she ends up with two for one, plus a dog that cures her of her past fears.
As Kade understands what Meg went through as a child, and how terrible her aunt treated her, it becomes clear she is innocent if any wrongdoing. She’s kind, feeds the guys, and worries when Kade goes on calls right alongside her brother. Kade heals from his experience of his mother leaving when he sees how dedicated Meg is to staying, with both of them.
Sweet story, but the nasty aunt doesn’t get held accountable enough for all the secrets and lies she told Meg. Riley is a handful, but a good kid. Love the bonds that form between these three.

Another adorably wonderful story in Dogwood!
These characters were so fantastic, with a very real conflict that drove the story very well. I was drawn in immediately, and I needed to know how it ended. Having a teenager and a dog as collateral in the conflict was gripping, and I powered through the last 50% of the book in one sitting! -
