Tank Girl: Free Comic Book Day 2018 Reviews

Here’s to the girls who still smile despite the black eyes, the girls who were taught to fight back, the girls who say “you should see the other guy”, this comic is for you.
This was rad!!! Tough girl at the core... TANK GIRL is exactly that, tough as a tank, she fights and drinks like one too.
My father was a military man, my sister and I had a pretty strict upbringing which meant we were REBELS by default. The rebel-spirited tomboy in me resonated infinitely with Tank Girl. Thanks, Dad.
Judging by the cover, I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did. The art was bomb at first, the first flashback was pretty different compared to the beauty I had previously been exposed to, each flashback had a different art style but went back to the original style, thankfully. I wish it would have kept the same pretty style throughout, but it did give this comic edge, which I think was done intentionally and was much needed. Tank Girl isn’t meant to be all crisp and pretty, that’s just not her.
I wished this would have given more details on Tank Girl's back story or been a little more detailed in general, that’s my reasoning for 4 stars. I’m definitely interested in being on the lookout for more of her comics.
Another great recommendation from my fiancee! I downloaded this e-comic while it was free on Amazon. I was under no obligation to write a review, my honest opinion is freely given. -
Ääähhh ja.

Meh. Liked the artwork on the 'present ' pages. Didn't like anything else.

Not Much Substance
I know, I know. Asking for substance in a comic about a bald chick named Tank Girl who apparently is in love with an anthropomorphic kangaroo with a purportedly massive endowment? I must be insane.
But here's the thing: this issue is basically just an excuse to meta-brag about the comic's origins, complain about some industry stuff (including the movie and a plot where one character dies), and provide a "flashback" that's basically a mini comic in a much less aesthetically pleasing art style. That and a half-baked story about making new traditions (but jk she's not going to change at all) are all this issue has going for it. And that just isn't enough.
I vaguely recall thinking the movie was alright when I was younger, but I can't recall anything about it other than the visuals. Maybe it was always this meta and I've just grown out of the style. I don't know. What I do know is that this was mostly boring but the art for "the present day" was appealing. -
I really do enjoy tank girl and this free comic book day offering, from 2018, explores Tank Girls annual birthday tradition of punching her childhood bully in the face. When she fails in this task her friends gather around to give Tank Girl a boost in confidence whilst giving the reader a background to her story. A fun read.

Good story like the drawing
It was a good read but wasnt really my intrest. I think that the author did a good job and haa a unique polt and art style. -
Not bad at all. A cool character with a solid background

That was more entertaining than I expected of something I only read to tick off another prompt of a reading challenge.

Oh, I loved this! I don't know much about Tank Girl, so I'm excited to delve into her world.

three stars for the queer-baiting lol

I've been adventuring into the world of comics and this FCBD exclusive was in one of my first hauls on Kindle when I went looking for material to read. Tank Girl recounts the history of her birthday tradition of punching a childhood bully after he evades her for the first time, her friends trying to offer some cheer and encourage her to start new traditions. I loved how the issue built on Tank Girl's backstory and character and how it was neatly wrapped into the sweet conclusion of Tank Girl's birthday celebrations.

Didn't care for it.

If you have never seen the Tank Girl movie I would highly recommend it. It is crazy, but in the best way possible. The enjoyment that I had received from the movie is what lead me to pick this comic book up on the free comic book day 2018. The art style changes to match her weird states of mind much like the movie. I had no experience of the comics before this one. I personally do not fill pulled in by the art work, but for the different styles they were well done. The birthday story was funny and worth the read.

This was... significantly sweeter than I expected.

Truly a brief history.
