The Nonviolent Coming of God Reviews
-
This is a pretty difficult read, but worth it. Jim & Shelley Douglass are amazing people. I think the thing that stands out the most about them is that they do not just have important things to say; they are part of being the change that they want to see in the world. From fascinating biblical exegesis of the synoptic gospels showing how justified violence entered the story of Jesus, to personal stories of protesting nuclear weapons, to first-hand accounts of the devastating results of the US imperial project, this book is a sweeping review of the call of Jesus to love and the path of destruction that results when we refuse to do so. This book can be a workout at times, but this might just be because of our own atrophied fortitude to actually follow Jesus rather than just worshipping Him. These are the kind of muscles I believe we need to learn how to build.

Completely radical theology and philosophy.
