The parties, holiday cheer, gift giving, hot cocoa, and carols bring all the warm fuzzies. But after the last present is opened, you typically feel like you’ve missed what you were supposed to be celebrating—the coming of God in Jesus Christ!
Do you know who you are really celebrating? Do you know who HE IS ?
Although we’re quick to reply with the Sunday School answer, “Jesus,” we all struggle to make the truth of who He is a reality amidst the craziness of Christmas. God is so big, so glorious, and so holy, the thought of Him can be overwhelming—but it doesn’t have to be.
Jesus said in Mark 8:29, “But what about you? Who do you say I am?” Let’s find our confidence in the answers to this question! Let’s strive to know Him for who He says He is in His Word.
Your faith will be strengthened, courage renewed, hope restored, and joy will overflow as you rediscover the One this season is all about!

He Is: An Advent Study on the Attributes of God Reviews
-
I mostly enjoyed it and gleaned some good thoughts about who God is. But some parts became repetitive. Particularly the social share aspect. I don’t always want to share my intimate experiences with God. I know it might be helpful for others but as a youth minister I need something just for me sometimes. Otherwise it was recommended! Good length for the busy season of advent with depth as well.

I would not recommend this in electronic form because there is some flipping back and forth that is necessary and became confusing. Also, as much as I did enjoy that each day was not numbered to provide guilt when I was already behind a few days in, it also had me further in having no idea if I was ahead or behind after I had started reading double each day to catch up, then realizing I finished the book early. A fair note that this was my first advent reading, so I should have done better research into what advent is, so take my review with complete inexperience. I was so out of it, that I read the advent candle lighting days in the beginning as the first four days...
I did enjoy the messages though. They were the perfect length and depth to get involved and feel connected without spending hours in the morning in a devotion. I enjoyed the breaks throughout the messages to be able to get out my bible and look up passages referenced. There were many messages where I'd find myself crying after the author would pour out their souls with their personal stories and struggles. This book was filled with heart, healing, and some great references and messages.
Another note: I'm an extreme introvert so I did not find myself participating in the end of chapter social media posting or sharing with coworkers and family because I feel like that would take away from me soaking in the message and it would bring an unwanted dread and anxiety to each day.
3.5/5 -
I wanted to like this study, the content is pretty good. It’s not super deep, more of a surface level study. I gave it three stars because the layout was stressful. There is a lot of flipping back and forth rather than consecutively working through the pages. However, if you get passed that it is a pretty good advent study for a newer believer.

This Advent devotional didn't click with me, but I did the work in my journal, so I'll have a clean copy for Christmases to come.
