    Book Title: Masks
    Author: Sourabh Mukherjee
    Format: Kindle

    Book Title:
The title of the book ' Masks ' is a definite reflection of the human behaviour.

    Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is the mask used during a masquerade procession or party, which covers the real face of the person wearing it.

    Plot:
In the late hours in the city of joy, Kolkata, Ashok, the chairman of the company calls Arijit, one of the directors of the company at wee hours. Sensing the importance,  Arijit answers the call and with a smile and explains to him that everything will be taken care of without any black mark.  Kris, the client who wants to collaborate with Ashok and his company visits Kolkata.  Arijit takes utmost care of the client who is all welcome to any kind of pleasures.

Akanksha aka Oindrilla waits for Kris in the hotel room. Kris apologizes for being late, they exchange glances and make out. While Akanksha dresses up to leave, he informs her that the money will be paid through his contacts. She looks at him with pale eyes. He then politely asks her phone number and she elegantly rejects it.  On the way back to her home, she keeps thinking about the way her life is shaping up, how is he getting torn inside, did her son come back from the school. She calls her husband and asks when will he be back home that day. As usual, he gives a false promise to come early.

Is this kind of his oblivious attitude making her crave for pure and unconditional love?  Will she ever taste such love? Is this the reason she wears the mask of a woman of desire and keeps changing from one room to the other, one man to the other in the same hotel in this very life?

    What I like:
    1. The flow of the story
    2. The honesty of the characters which reflect the practical aspects of the world
    3. The emotional balance that each character carries

    What I didn't like:
    Not Applicable!!!

    Characters:
The four characters are very well plotted and each has its own separate agenda in the story.

    Narration:
Awestruck and wholesome soulful narration is observed in the story.

    Language & Grammar:
When the story comes from a bestselling author,  the grammar and the language are definitely on top notch.

    My Final Verdict:
The dark, dirty and gruesome truth covered with lipstick and mascara!

Are we, the humans wandering around each other, really genuine? Are we real, in our intentions, actions, policies, and morals? Are we who we seem to be? Are we the manifestation of deception?

Masks is a short story that delves deeper into the psyche of human beings. It dissects our superficial layer to make us see through us. It makes us look beneath to fill ourselves with questions, guilt and perhaps, shame. Through the characters, the author points towards our inability to carry what we are with ease. It is this inability that compels us to wear a mask. We desire to satisfy our needs in the guise of a mask which could not be seen but tearing it apart would definitely bring us in light, naked!

The story has been developed really well. I loved how the plot was built up with an air of business ethics and takes a turn towards human values. The search for love forces Oindrilla to live a life reeking of lust and carnality. With the aid of a good language, the book turns out to be a hit on our heads bringing us to a point of contemplation and self-reflection.

The Masks by Sourabh Mukherjee is the fourth in Its all about love series, It is an instant quick read about the masks that people tends to wear in relationships. I really liked previous stories much in this series but this one is little disappointment. Because it showed the pitch dark side of relationship between a couple which I didn't find the love and feelings as I did in the other stories of this series. Still the characters were few and narration was done neatly with simple and lucid language.

  • Aparna Preethi

Everything about this story is just awesome. One plain truth is unfolded by a twisted and unexpected plot but that hits you real hard. And yeah, that is what I needed. People compelling themselves to live in the world of reality, by faking emotions by wearing masks! Indeed, relatable to everyday happening around us!! This book is an added credit to this series. Loved it.

  • Riju Ganguly

A brief but memorable story— that's how I would describe and remember this piece. Sourabh Mukherjee is an expert wordsmith, who manages to infuse sensuality in very compact descriptions. His command over ebb and flow of the tale was visible throughout.
My only issue was with the shortness of the tale. It was a flash, followed by thunder. One gets tempted to stand in the rain afterwards, which didn't come.
Nevertheless, recommended to all the admirers of shorter version of storytelling.

Book Name: Masks (It’s all about Love series)
    Author Name: Sourabh Mukherjee
    Format: Kindle
    No of Pages: 12
Publisher: Srishti Publishers & Distributers (1/10/2018)
Blurb: The blurb of the book is capable enough to make the reader curious about the story; so I am considering it perfect.
Cover: The front cover of the book is not only catching but it is aptly justifying the significance of the story.
Title: The title of the book is catchy enough to pick the book up & it is significant to the story I must say.
Language & narration: Language of the book is lucid & simple enough to comprehend. I have noticed that there’re potentially classy words to ornament the sentences at places that enhanced the flavor or reading. The story is in 3rd person narrative and the visibly descriptive narration of the scenes made the phases clearer to understand for the reader.
Plot: The plot of the book crafted thoughtfully keeping the aspect of a Love series in mind. I’d like to say that, it is actually differently woven plot that it should not be labeled as “Usual Love Story”. This effort from the author needs depth and guts both actually, and from that aspect, I must say that it is much appreciable.
Setting: Setting of this story is in Kolkata.
Characterization: The characters of the story are portrayed clearly and every character is finely justified to their respective roles throughout the book. Name of the characters mentioned in the book are- Arijit Chatterjee, Ashok, Mr. Krishnamurthy aka Kris, Mr. Sarkar, Oindrila, Ayush.
    Theme: Life, Relationship.
Content & My Verdict: This book is the 4th book of the anthology named “It’s all about Love” series by the author Sourabh Mukherjee. This short journey of a particular phase needs maturity in thoughts to accept and cherish in a right way; I am glad that I have come across this story. It has tempted me already to check out the next release from the author. Still 3 to go…
This story revolves around a particular day mainly or rather we can say a particular event that beholds the truth of the society and somewhere human mind as well nowadays. This story is all about what we need and what the desire of our heart makes us to do. Have a look-
Arijit Chatterjee was successively fulfilling his role of a Senior Director of Sales in a company named GenX Infotech. The responsibilities of this highly important role used to keep him busy as well. He got to know that a heavily potential and undoubtedly important Client associate named Mr. Krishnamurthy aka Kris will visit Kolkata the next day and one thing was obvious that he had to ‘satisfy’ the needs of this client and make him ‘happy’ as well to crack the big deal which was completely depending on the decision of this person. Arijit was well aware of his duty and made his mind clear about his upcoming work.
According to the plan, Krish was being ‘taken care of’ by all means really well, because Oindrilla didn’t make any mistake to play her role. But, was that the end of what it seemed? Or…someone was yet to put the mask off?
To know these answers, grab your copy of this book and see the truth behind the curtain…
Author Sourabh Mukherjee deserves a heartfelt appreciation and round of applause, even just for putting the efforts in this story to show us the other side of the coin, that too within a very short time frame. The thing is, nothing comes in this life at free of cost. To survive in this rat race of life and to fulfill the desire of heart, it is mandatory to pay the appropriate ‘price’ to achieve. Sometimes, to fulfill their ‘needs’, people need to hide them behind mask. Because it is not possible for them to get everything with the face we are accustomed to see them. Be it the stairs of life or the shades of heart, but ‘mask’ is needed of course. Behind every ‘sophisticated’ life, somewhere deep in their heart, everyone is wearing a ‘mask’ because they need to maintain both the sides of the coin. There is not one Oindrilla, and definitely not one Kris. Well the…bitter truth of life is, we people generally do not even ready to laugh until the Joker puts his mask on…
The different sides of human mentality and tendency, the desire of the heart, the deep ‘ethics’ in way to make ‘profits’, the compromise, the dilemma and ultimately, the reason behind putting on a mask- everything is portrayed evidently inside the pages of the story. I am taking this a ‘mature read’ and I am impressed by the depth in the vision of the author. It has not disappointed me and I am hoping for the same to others as well. I would surely be looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.
Recommendation: I would like to recommend this book to every avid reader because it was not that type of love story that can be predicted easily, so get yourself a different flavor and feel the significance of this small but eye opening truth. Thank you.
    Rating (Overall): 5/5 Stars.

  • Oindri Kundu

A beautiful, different kind of must-read, 'Masks' by Sourabh Mukherjee portrays the urban life in the City Of Joy- Kolkata. The book begins with Ashok, the chairman of the company calling Arijit, the Senior Director of Sales at GenX Infotech, to brief him about a deal with Kris. He asks Arijit to take utmost care of the client and attend to his all possible needs.

Oindrila aka Akanksha is the one to take care of Kris' all 'needs' and she does so exceedingly well. So well, that Kris agrees to coming back to Kolkata for the deal.

The book shows how in the coperate world, no one hesitates to arrange for paid sex whereas the sex workers go down this prohibited lane, not for the money they get but to overcome the loneliness they otherwise feel.

However at the end, there's an unexpected twist (which I shall not reveal, do not worry). This twist is the main attraction of the book and leaves the readers spellbounded. The fluent language and lively descriptions of the sensuous sequences are bound to excite the readers and leave them wanting for more. Crisp, short and to the point, one can finish it in one sitting which definitely is a big plus point! All in all, it is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

    Plot: 4.5/5

    Final Rating: 4/5

The cover looks beautiful. The title and the story would have been incomplete without such a cover.

The title is perfectly apt for the storyline and the self-realization.

The blurb of the book describes the story well, but it could have been better, given the content of the story.

The storyline is based in Kolkata. It has characters from the top level management of a company, their clients and how the corporate culture works. How an individual faces the dilemma between ethics and how the system works.

The language of the book is very good. It was good enough to connect with the readers. It significantly added to my vocabulary.

The story very well depicts the human nature, the true self in our own eyes.

Looking forward to read the next part of the series. This story was quite different from the previous parts of the series.

  • Aparna Prabhu

Love doesn't feel complete unless ones desires are satiated. Oindrila longed for physical proximity, her longing was ignored under the garb of work and responsibilities. Hiding behind a mask she manages to deceive everybody around her including her inner self.

The title complements the theme of the story. The story unfolds slowly, the author successfully keeps the suspense under wraps with the help of vivid descriptions and appropriate settings. The narrative moves smoothly alongside well refined language. The extent to which people can tread to fulfill their needs, under the pretext of ethics and morals is worth contemplating.

  • Sourav Chatterjee

This one is just amazing! It's true "if there are one hundred people then there would be one thousands of masks..."
This the perfect reflection of our so called civilized society, where people can do anything to get their needs! In quest of gaining things more easily and gaining things more fast.
The story is really short but it has a message, it is full of thoughts.
The author has done a brilliant job.
    The naartion is really good.
    The language is simple.
And the cover is so attractive and beautiful. It is really eye-catching.
    The title is appropriate.
    A must read book!

  • Ritu Mantri

The story of Masks reveals the darker side of the family system where two individuals lives together under the same roof but never bond as a family.

Masks is based on the assumption that every person is two or multiple faced. Arjit, director of sales advocates for ethics but can plunge down for profits. Similar are the other characters in the story.

It is well written with a surprising twist at the end. The twist made me wonder about the character of Oindrilla. Was she walking on the right path or the author sketched a faulty character. You have to read and decide.

Name- Masks (It's All about love series)
    Written by- Sourabh Mukherjee
    Published by- Srishti publishers
    Review-
"Behind every mask there is a face, and behind that a story."
When Shakespeare wrote about the world being a stage and we being mere actors, he was being literal. The world of 21st century is moving towards a phase where feelings have lost their value in lives of people.
Saurabh Mukherjee's "Mask" is such a story regarding the complexities in human mind and relationships. A story where the people wear masks not only to hide their true intentions but also mask their true feelings and intentions.
While doing this most people forget themselves leading towards an impending doom.
Such is the story of Oindrila and Arijit. They were both derived by strong and powerful temptations that made them take some drastic decisions in their lives. The consequences of these decisions are beautifully depicted in the end of the story.
The twist of fate that leads them to their doom gives the story a whole new dimension.
Lastly, I fell in love with this story that touched and broke my heart at the same time.

story of Masks revolve around Oindrila, an escort. While there is the character of Arijit, who employs Oindrila in order to make another character Kris, a potential client, ‘happy’, I felt that the story was solely written for and around Oindrila. A woman, an escort, a wife, a mother – of all these roles that she plays, which is a mask that she wears and which is the real her? Or maybe, they are all part of her… Or it may be that they are ALL masks that she wears! In a way, I feel that this was the darkest story in the collection.

“Masks” by Sourabh Mukherjee is an apt title for the book and most importantly I felt it is important for today scenario. Every human today is wearing a mask on their face. The cover of the book is beautiful and reminded me of mask parties.
The book holds minimum characters with surely a great plot. Ashok and Arijit have been together in a company and one of their client Kris, is coming to Kolkata to meet them.
Oindrilla , another very important character in the book meets Kris in a hotel. Oindrilla is not her real name and she is actually the mask. The ending of the book was totally unexpected. This book totally holds the elements of suspense and secrets within its pages. The flow of the story is maintained and the story is well narrated in a simple language.

    Short but powerful

Masked, dual face, a living lie or a mukhauta is something people wear around us just to showcase their false loyality. The story tells us about such bitterness in every relationship. A very good read.

    Review -

" Masks " by Sourabh Mukherjee is the 4th book of the “It’s all about Love" series, which is also as amazing and heart touching as the previous one stories. The theme of the book is enough to hook my attention towards the novel as I am a romantic fiction lover. Basically the book is very short with a very deep meaning/lesson . Kudos to the author, the way he depicted all the characters in the book Arjit, Ashok, Krishnamurthy/ Kris, Akanksha /Oindrilla.

Well personally I think that I won't be a wrong if I say that the story is nothing but an mirror of today's fast-paced society, where money and numbers matter more than anything else.

Now lets move towards the story,
The story revolves around a particular event which beholds the truth of our society and human mentality also. The story is all about what we need and what our desire makes us to do. Story begins with a phone conversation between Arjit Chatterjee and Ashok the co workers of GenX Infotech, as they discuss the arrival of their employer.
Arijit was a Senior Director of Sales and Ashok was the chairman in that company. By discussion over the phone call he got to know that a important Client associate Mr. Krishnamurthy/ Kris will visit Kolkata the next day and he had to ‘satisfy’ the needs of this client and make him ‘happy’ to crack the big deal which was completely depending on the Kris's decision. Arijit made his mind clear about his upcoming work.

What happened next in the story ?  Did Arjit satisfied the need of Kris and crack the deal ? What's the deal all about ?

Well I dont want to ruin the feel of the story by revealing details about this short sweet n extraordinary love story, so to know all the answers af these questions just go and buy the copy of this wonderful story and be the part of the It’s all about Love series.

The title " Masks " is simple , unique and creates a curiosity in the reader's mind and also appropriate for the story ..
On the other hand the cover page of the book is beautiful and catchy, on front side we can see the mask which is used during the party( Theme party ), which covers the real face of the person who is wearing it. .

Language of the book is lucid , simple and easy to understand. Characterization of the story built so well.

    Book Title: 4/5
    Book Cover: 3.5/5
    Plot: 4/5
    Characters: 4/5
    Narration: 4/5
    Language & Grammar: 4/5
    Final Rating: 4/5

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.I would personally recommend this book to all the book lovers, romantic fiction lovers and specially those who believe in love . Eagerly waiting for the next book on this series..

    Thank you. ✌️😊

Having Already Read Three Of Saurabh Mukherjee Quick Reads In The Not So Distant Past, My Belief Is Further Cemented That Any Author Who Can Pack A Punch In A Nutshell Tale And Leave The Readers Gasping For Breath Can Well Write A Full
Fledged Novel Ensuring That They Don’t Drift Along Aimlessly When They Get Down To Penning A Complete Novel.
In Sourabh Mukherjee’s Latest Read Masks Which Is Just About A Dozen Pages Between The Covers And Yet There Is So Much Clarity And Transparency Reflecting That It Keeps The Reader Truly Engrossed Almost Spellbound If I May Say So.

So What Makes Oindrila Any Different When She Is Activated To Make Sure That There Is No Slip Between The Lip And The Hip That Leaves Any Room To Allow A Prestigious Contract Slip Out Of Her Masters Hands Once The Tender Is Opened.
Right Till The End One Cannot Figure Out Who Exactly Oindrila Is And When Her True Identity Is Actually Revealed As To Why She Does What She Does It Leaves The Reader Stunned Into Silence About Her True Motive That Makes Her Lead A Dual Life.

    Masks

The human realm of ours is composed of various people with indifferent nature & vivid characteristics. Some prefer to be honest, whereas others tend to be factual & pretentious.
Factors likes lust, ego, rage, coupled with other trivial irrelevant human tendencies lead to camouflage, basically what we term as pretentiousness.
In simple terms, we all wear masks to protect ourselves. Or rather, to put it aptly to protect others from our fasciousness & a fear which dwells in our mind that our mask of treachery will fall of someday & the world will witness our true self.

Cover is good, it has been designed well.

Title is short, precise, crisp & catchy.

    Story talks about multiple characters.

Plot is set in the city of joy, Kolkata. Arjit, Ashok, Kris, Akanksha alias Oindrilla are some of the prominent characters of the book. Ondrilla's life revolves around hardships, bad sex life, lack of love & lackadaisal satisfactory measures.
Her live gets torn between her family life, work & sex life. As usual, she gives a false promise or reply to her close ones. Similar excuses & situations are encountered with every character in the book which can be extrapolated effectively here.

Will her life always lack love? How long will she endure this meek pretentious mask & hide her carnal desire & camouflage it in the form of one man to another in the same hotel?

Language is good. Characterisation is well done. Narration is beautiful.

  • Sujit Srinivasan

The Book with a title Masks and the a beautiful golden mask. Since its been book series of love , I was actually astonished to see this name. More over than that little bit curious too. Once we read read we understand the title makes pure sense.

The story brings out some ugly truths of the society which most of us are aware of . The story kick starts in Kolkata, Ashok calls Arijit the director of his company at early hours of a day with a request to take care of their client Krish and make sure that everything he request is fulfilled. Arjit wove Ashok it would be done.

Akanksha aka Oindrilla was actually waiting for Krish at a hotel. After they make out and when Akanksha asks Krish money which he says his client would pay. On the way return Akanksha takes a look back at her life. There are many obligations she had to follow. She has a life which was horrible but out of her hands. Here desires are left to be fulfilled and behind a mask she acts so

I just loved the story all together. There is a smooth flow in the story-line which shows some hidden dark secrets of a persons life

'Oh my God!' this is what I said when I read Masks. Glimpses of the thriller writer that Sourabh is; is very much evident in this amazing tale. It leaves you surprised and shocked. Considering the interest that I've developed for reading crime thrillers, this particular story satiated my thirst for reading thriller during these days. However, I was a bit disappointed when the story ended so soon.

Masks, like its name, is a tale filled with surprises. Just as a duck seems quite calm to us when we look at it but it's working tirelessly under water, we human beings as well hide ourselves away from this world. We rarely exhibit our true self to others. This story is about Oindrilla who has everything to lead a content life yet she feels that something is missing.

The language is simple. The narration and the emotions portrayed in this story will make you connect with the characters instantly. The realistic narration is like a cherry on the cake. The message that this story gives out will make you ponder about your life and you.

  • Vandana ▪️ Whats on my bookshelf

This is my first book by sourabh mukherjee. The book is 9 pages and is written as a short story. Arjith works in the sales department of a reputed company who also needs to keep their clients satisfied. Akanksha/ Oindrila is an escort, wife and a mother searching for true love or something similar that she once had. The female character was more sketched than the male. Its one day of their life that forms the story. The beginning wasn't good. I found the language not upto mark. There were only 5 chapters. The first two were disappointing. But the last three does make an impression. Especially the end left me wanting more. I decided to give two stars as theres scope for improvement but looks like a pleasant read.

  • Gayatri Saikia | per_fictionist

I am always in search of short stories that make me yearn for more but still fill me up with a sense of fullness, and "Masks" by Sourabh Mukherjee is just one of them.

To be honest, I haven't read any past works of the author and so was not expecting a lot from this one, but wow that was quite a read.

The author has a sense of maturity in his writing that is unlike any other. Also, the characters in the story definitely seemed real to me as if they are taken out from the real world and put in his fictional work.

The narration is another positive point and it keeps you hooked throughout the 12 pages.

The cover of the book is definitely catchy and being a 12 paged book it will a nice read with your cup of evening tea/coffeee.

The book is a love series and revolves around Arjit, and Oindrilla. Different individuals have different aspiration from their life. The book talks about the reality of our generation.

The book deals with the life of a woman protagonist who is an escort and hardships of her life. Also, the Arjith who is working in a sales department of a reputed company and working hard to satisfy his clients and meet the needs of his life.

The title of the book is perfect and suits well with the story of the book that every person has two faces and always wear a mask. The short read of page length 12 with the simple language and ended on the perfect twist. I enjoyed the read and twisted ending.

  • Deepali Gupta

Was so excited to read the 4th book in journey of love series. You might assume this book to be as the previous ones but indeed it is not. This story leads you through a self reflection of thoughts and contemplation where we lack or we runaway from. Really loved the way story was told. The story is not predictable at all. Really loved the end. What I always enjoy is that the author picks up the reader along the journey. No matter as short read always entertaining and engaging.
Cover is also apt as per title and end of the story.
