Before Charlotte Dodd had a secret life...

Before she lost her memories, Charlotte Dodd still has a secret life, but at least she could remember it. She was an agent for NIIA, happy in her new found love for Hamilton Short, and dealing with usual missions like saving the world from killer viruses (why are they always named after animals, like swine and elephant? Gives the animals a bad rap).

But then her brother bursts into her life with a secret for her. After being told her mother died years ago, Seamus tells Charlotte she is still alive and being held against her will.

No proof or anything. Just a sketchy plan to rescue her.

Of course Charlotte heads off with Seamus, going against the NIIA and Ham to find out what really happened to her mother.

Sometimes missing things are better off not being found.

A novella prequel to The Secret Life of Charlotte Dodd.

The Missing Files of Charlotte Dodd (Charlotte Dodd, #0.5) Reviews

This is the prequel to the series, but there’s definitely the feeling like I should already know a lot more about these characters than I do by starting my reading here. There’s a bit of a “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” feeling about this story, with the over-the-top actions scenes, deliciously snarky banter, and sizzling chemistry between our leads. This book is one hundred percent designed to leave the reader wanting more and I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series.

Although this is a quick read, and it will leave you wanting more, I thoroughly enjoyed meting Charlie.
If you are a fan of television shows like NCIS, especially the Los Angeles version, you will appreciate this series.
Charlotte, or Lottie, is born into a spy family. Only one of her brothers is not in the family business, or so she believes. This brief novel takes us on a mission with her and shares some hints at her background. When she is sent on a mission to save her mother, who she believes has been dead for many years, and seems to be betraying all she believed in, we are as bewildered as Charlotte. Who can be believed? What is real and what has been fabricated?
    Mind control comes into play.

What comes after this mission and who should Charlotte trust? Where do loyalties deserve to lie?

I was given a digital copy to review. I enjoy this author's writing but this was very different from other books I have read by her. Intriguing characters and interesting situations.

This is the prequel to the series, so I read it first...even though it wasn't actually the first published. Was I wrong? I didn't think so. I got to meet Charlotte/Charlie/Lottie in her full on successful mode. I learned she could do anything-not too surprising for the granddaughter and daughter of spies with 4 brothers, 3 also spies. I am sure she grew up trying to outdo her older brothers like a typical baby girl of a very untypical family. Truth or my fiction, it doesn't matter because Charlie could do the impossible and still believe in the goodness of people.

It was a wonderful way to learn about Canada's secret spy association and the way they protected their country. It had everything-spy gadgets, romance, family, secrets, and the ultimate weapon of all, a way to wipe out certain memories.

A wonderful introduction to a fun series and highly recommended!

    Excellent Series Intro
This short read is an introduction to the Charlotte Dodd series. It ends in a teaser; not quite a cliffhanger, but it makes the reader want to continue reading the series. This story has me hooked! It is a covert, super-spy female hero story that is action-packed. I know that I will read the rest of the series. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.

I read this book as the second book instead of the first book and it provided a little more insight into why things were the way they were in book one. Even with the complex storyline, the book was still able to stay a novella length. A great introductory book for a fun-filled series!

Wow!! What an excellent read! I wasn’t expecting such a fun, quick and intriguing story! I love Charlotte Dodd & am eager to see what happens to her next! This story ends as she’s embarking on something huge & now I have to read the rest of the series to see where this takes her!

  • Sandra

Oh I love to learn more about Charlotte even if I didn't start in the correct order 😉

This prequel was a short read, but an intriguing one. I look forward to reading more of this series.
