A young girl takes the long way home from school is this charming picture-book from author/artist Anne Lambelet, observing all of the canine/human pairs she sees along the way. Some dogs look like their humans, and some don't, but every one seems to have found his perfect person. Eventually, the girls returns home, where her own animals companion (
Delightfully quirky artwork is paired with an engaging look at our beloved canine companions in Dogs and Their People, the first title I have happened to pick up from Lambelet. The names of both human and dogs are likewise quirky - Augustus and Sir Archibald Pennyfarthing, Lord Banberry and O'Grady - and had a somewhat British feeling to me. Recommended to young dog lovers (or to cat lover!), and to anyone looking for fun new picture-book art. -
Very cute. My dog always sits on the bed while my kiddo and I are reading and we made sure to appreciate him a little bit more.

It was cute hehe...reminded me of the scene in 101 Dalmatians where Pongo is comparing the owners to their dogs. Hehe it was interesting to see just how the dogs match with their humans in their own special way.

Some people resemble their dogs. Others do not. But it's fun to see how they fit together.
This is a gentle little book that considers the world in a positive and thoughtful way. I love all the dogs too. -
It was cute. Before shelving it in my library job, I made it a quick read. Little kids will giggle over the intersection cut they won't get the twist at the end. Slightly older kids will get it, so will the adults.
Great illustrations, I thought they looked French in terms of style. -
This book really reminded me of 101 Dalmatians. The text uses opposites to help direct the reader to different aspects in each illustration which is fun to look at. The illustrations are detailed on some pages and more simple on others. I really enjoyed the small surprise in the end.

Loved it! ❤️ A very cute story for dog lovers and pet owners alike! I found the illustrations to be very unique. The coloring (with lots of sepia-like tones), the style, and the clothing the characters wore, was very reminiscent of the roaring 20’s and 30’s. A very unique style!

Everyone enjoys watching people. The only thing that could make it better is adding dogs.

This is a cute story with charming vintage-style illustrations. I enjoyed it.

This book is just lovely! Perfect for dog lovers and people watchers. Loved the cute little twist at the end!
-
The illustrations really make this book, the text is a little bland but there is a nice twist at the end.
-
So cute! Loved the story and artwork -- reminded me of the opening scene in 101 Dalmatians.
-
Adorable for both big and little dog lovers.
-
loved the vintage feel of the illustrations
-
Cute with lovely illustrations and a fun surprise ending.
-
So cute! Loved the illustrations and the story. Surprise ending as well!!
-
Very much like the scene in 101 Dalmatians where Pongo is looking out the window at dogs and their humans. I didn’t care for the illustrations and the text was a bit dry. I loved the ending, though.

This book is very cute.

Not a story but a cute series of illustrations of people and their dogs who are and are not like them. Feels like it's been done before, though...
-
positively adorable!

Anne's illustrations are some of my very favorite around, and her dog-people lookalikes highly amusing, but the story fell a bit short for me on this one.
