While dinosaurs patrolled the lands, massive prehistoric sharks, giant scorpions, and colossal squid cruised the ancient oceans - most with just one thing in mind: eat or be eaten. In this companion volume to the best-selling ENCYCLOPEDIA PREHISTORICA: DINOSAURS, pop-up masters Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart explore the prehistoric underwater world, where monsters like megalodon ruled the waves.
Full of captivating facts and more than 35 breathtaking pop-ups, this incredible volume is sure to astonish and amaze everyone from budding marine biologists to confirmed landlubbers. After all, if prehistoric coelacanths and crocodiles are still around, what else might be lurking in today's largely unexplored oceans?
Sharks And Other Sea Monsters Reviews
-
The overall pop-up book was enjoyable and well researched, but the title is a little miss leading. As sharks are the larger part of the title and only mention once or twice in it, while a title along the lines of creates pf the deep would be a better descriptor.

I read this book along side the dinosaurs one by the same author. I found the dinosaurs one, more enjoyable. I think this book didn't grab my attention as the pop-ups weren't as detailed and attention-grabbing and the information inside this book, I couldn't relate to as much as I could the dinosaur book. The pop-up of the shark was amazing though and the skeleton cut-out inside this book had such detail, that I just had to stop and look at it a couple times. This still was a great pop-up book, better than other pop-up books I have seen. There was a lot of information about prehistoric sharks and creatures of the seas and the author touched on current topics. The set-up of this book is just like the dinosaur book and you would definitely be missing something if you didn't check this shark book out.
There are plenty of pop-up and they are top-notch. You will definitely learn something inside this book as it is packed with information. If you want to know how this book is set up, look at my review regarding Robert Sabuda's Dinosaur book as they are set up the same way. This book is a gem and one worth checking out. -
Шикарна поп-ап книга. Крім основних 6 розворотів, по бокам кожної сторінки ще кишеньки з розкладнмими монстрами. штук 50 механічних картинок. Шедевр

OMG says ages 5-9 but I'm way past that and loved this so much

Another prehistoric piece of art and engineering. This time detailing in splendid pop-up wizardry the ocean-dwelling creatures of dinosaur-times! A special book for any Brit, given that so many of our mesozoic fossils are of the underwater variety - even Mary Anning (who during the 19th century discovered the first Ichthyosaur and Plesiosaur skeletons along the Jurassic coastline, in the fossil beds of Lyme Regis, where she lived) is brought to life through the magical medium of pop-up. From the tiniest ammonite through to the most monstrous of marine reptiles, no stone is left unturned!

I couldn't believe how amazing this pop-up book was. I was seriously frightened by some of the pop-ups and learned a ton from the text. I think this book would be awesome for all ages and help children to realize that there are still dinosaurs alive today!

This was one of three that was given to me as a gift. These are AMAZING pop-up books. They have a wealth of information and amazing graphics. Each page has one or two mini-pop-up books on it as well. LOVE these!

My grandson loved this book and for a while he could not read it enough. We would finish it and he would say, "Again Grampa". We read it until it fell apart. We got our moneys worth out of this book and I would recommend it.

Way cool! Pop-up books are always fun but this series is especially so. Lots of extra flaps to open and discover info about sharks as well as large creatures diving forth from the page.

If you give less than 5 stars to any of the books in this series, there is something beautiful that went dead inside you.
