'So what you're saying is we're stuck on a mountain for days with a killer running free and no law enforcement support on the way.'

Susan Sleeman begins her 6th novel in her Cold Harbor series with a bang and I do mean a bang. It's as if she just picks the reader up and tosses them right in the middle of the action. This novel tells Alex's character's story, another member of the elite Blackwell Tactical group. All are former military or law enforcement who have been injured on the job and couldn't continue in their positions. But Blackwell is a tight group that gets things done and hires these men and women who are totally capable still. They live on their own compound and are hired by companies and private individuals for protection and crime solving when law enforcement are stumped. They are amazing.

Whitney's sister has been murdered by her husband, who is taken to jail to await a trial. Then he escapes and very nearly kills Whitney. She has her sister's kids and runs with them, changing her identity to keep them all safe. She is working at a resort in the mountains when Alex tries to protect her from an overly friendly customer. Then someone is killed and she is very afraid the bullet was meant for her and Percy is back. She decides to hire Alex and his partner from Blackwell Tactical to protect her and the children. Then a blizzard hits, trapping them all in the resort with no way out or in. And a killer is on site.

Susan Sleeman knows very well how to ratchet up the suspense, layer after layer, until her readers are totally on their last nerve dying to know what is going to happen next. I love her books and never miss one. The very idea of being trapped somewhere with no way out and a killer gunning for you is totally suspenseful! Highly recommended.

*My thanks to the author for a preview copy of this book. The opinions stated here are entirely my own.

Cold Pursuit is an arresting story with a line of intrigue that makes it hard to put down. Whitney and Alex are intelligent and savvy, with a pretty good chemistry on the page. Fans of contemporary suspense will enjoy this rendering from Sleeman. This is the sixth book in the Cold Harbor series but the first I've read, and yet I had no trouble figuring out characters etc. I'm looking forward to going back and reading the series from the beginning because I hear there is another book coming. I was gifted an electronic copy of the book from the author. No review was required. No compensation received.

"Take the children. Run. Now. Fast. Far."

Creating a new life for herself and her sister's two children is paramount for Whitney Rochester, especially after their father escaped imprisonment for murdering his wife and is threatening to abscond with his children. Finding a job at a remote Oregon ski resort, Whitney hopes to provide her niece and nephew with the kind of safe normalcy they all so desperately need. It turns out that danger has followed her, for when an unknown guest is gunned down before her very eyes and an avalanche blocks traffic in and out for days, Whitney is forced to trust a total stranger, whom she feels as if she has known for days.

Former Marine Alex Hamilton is working an undercover surveillance operation for a private security firm when a lovely dark haired waitress catches his attention, and apparently the attention of his suspected illegal gun runner, as well. His best intentioned intervention goes awry, but when he learns of Whitney's real plight, he cannot help but lend his skills as a tactical protector.

Cozy up to this winter wonderland of murder, mayhem and just maybe . . . . . a blossoming romance!

For five books, readers have gotten to know the jokester of the team, now get ready to see a different side of the man.

In Cold Pursuit, Alex Hamilton meets someone who he doesn’t want to joke around with, someone he wants to be real with. Both Alex and Whitney have lost someone important in their life (Alex years ago and Whitney recently) and both of them are learning to cope with their losses.

Add in an avalanche that traps them at a ski lodge with a killer on the loose, a sweet little girl, and a young boy who is also dealing with losing his mother, a couple of potential suspects, and the story heats up.

While the suspense and investigation are as top-notch as in all Susan Sleeman’s books, it’s the draw Alex has to this family that makes this book shine, especially where Isaiah is concerned.
Next up is the newest team member and I’m looking forward to Sam’s story soon!

Alex and his partner Samantha are undercover trying to catch a gunrunner at a resort. When the gunrunner keeps coming on to one of the staff Alex can't sit by and let it continue. Whitney is less than thrilled when Alex steps in. She was handling the situation and is afraid that she will lose her job.

When a man is shot at the lodge Alex and Sam are the first on the scene, seeing Whitney leaving the area Alex immediately assumes she is a suspect. Trapped in blizzard-like conditions Sam and Alex are the only law-enforcement able to work the case.

Whitney needs Alex and the rest of Blackwell Tactical to protect she and her niece and nephew. Her brother-in-law murdered her sister, and now he has escaped from jail and Whitney just knows that the bullet that killed the man was probably meant for her.

Always the team member that lightens the mood Alex takes a more serious roll in his protection of Whitney. There's an immediate attraction between the two, but both of them have sworn to never love someone who can have the power to hurt them. As danger lurks around every corner for Whitney and the kids, Alex becomes more and more attached to them. Will he become distracted by his feelings for them and put them all in further danger?

Another exciting installment of the Cold Harbor series! I love that from the beginning Alex felt he could be himself with Whitney. No need to joke all of the time, but truly share his feelings and emotions with her. I also loved the setting. I mean seriously, how scary to be caught in a blizzard with a murderer on the loose! Another thing I really like about the Cold Harbor series is that the team always has each others backs. They are honest and tough with each other, but yet there is a bond of friendship that they share that makes them close as a family. They kept reminding Alex to keep his head on straight and do the job. Again, an exciting read that kept me turning the pages in anticipation. I'm looking forward to reading Sam's story next!

Cold Pursuit, by Susan Sleeman, is book six of her Cold Harbor romantic suspense series. Alex Hamilton, a team member of Blackwell Tactical, is undercover at a mountain ski resort. He and his partner are there to gather evidence against a potential drug and arms smuggler. But when Alex is distracted by a woman in need, their assignment get a whole lot more complicated.

Whitney is on the run from her brother-in-law who has escaped jail and threatened her life. He wants his two children, who she has legal custody of and has spirited away to small resort in the mountains. Taking a job as a waitress, she uses an assumed last name and keeps her head down. Until a man is murdered right next to her. Was she the target? Or was he? With her escape cut off by an avalanche, her only protection is the man who suspects her of murder.

Close proximity stories are fun, especially in suspense, because a character is trapped with both the person he/she likes, but also the killer. Danger lurks around every corner and if they don’t figure out the answer in time, they won’t survive. That’s very much the case in Cold Pursuit. Not even law enforcement or Alex’s team can make it through the blizzard to help them.

Resources are also limited. How is Alex supposed to keep Whitney and the kids safe when he’s supposed to find a killer – who might or might not also be after Whitney? But Alex desires to do both because he’s a man of honor and because he understands what the kids are going through. Oh, and because of Whitney, of course. But whether he lets himself believe that or not is another part of the story.

I enjoyed Cold Pursuit for all these reasons. Plus, Alex and Whitney made me root for them. They have have broken hearts and a mess to deal with. Real trouble in the way of what they might feel for one another. I especially liked how Alex interacted with Whitney’s niece and nephew.

If you’re a fan of close proximity romance or closed room mysteries, then definitely put Cold Pursuit on your reading list. It’ll tug on your heartstrings, too.

This series has been special. I know you feel that way too. I'm not sure how Susan keeps coming up with new idea's and plots but she is an awesome author. This story is well written, action packed, and full of intrigue. Faith is a vital part of each of her stories. It is an awesome story and I know you will love it.

A journey of two broken souls traveling through avalanches, blizzards and shoot outs. Can they learn to trust one another? Can they trust God to get them out of the mess they are in. God has a plan for them; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. You might not have men trying to kill you but you do have an enemy who is out to steal, kill, and destroy you. God will make a way when there seems to be no way. Give Him your heart and watch Him work in your life

    DANGER, SUSPENSE & ROMANCE!

Cold Pursuit: A Cold Harbor Novel - Book 6 is filled with danger, suspense and romance! Blackwell Tactical has sent two of their finest team members to a ski resort to run undercover surveillance on a gunrunner. Former Recon Marine Alex Hamilton and forensic expert Samantha Willis are deep in their assignment when they hear a gunshot. As Alex investigates, he notices a woman running away from the scene - the same beautiful woman he noticed earlier at the restaurant.

Whitney Rochester is a woman on the run. She’s taking her niece and nephew far away from their father who murdered their mother (Whitney’s sister). No one should have to go what the three of them have experienced. Just when she thinks she’s found a safe haven, she walks past a man and he’s shot and killed! Was he the true intended target or was she?

Is it even possible for the team to continue surveillance with a murder and a severe weather event? If any team can salvage this operation, Blackwell Tactical can do it! They are the ones you want when everything is going wrong and all hope is gone. Like when you find yourself trapped in a small ski resort with a small group of guests, limited number of staff, a dead body, an avalanche and a crazed killer is on the loose. The romantic tension runs throughout the book and this one sizzles!

This is another fantastic novel by Sleeman! I read it in one day as I couldn’t put it down! I was provided an ARC of this novel by the author. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.

This is book six in the Cold Harbor series, however it is a stand alone novel. The series does focus on the Blackwell Tactical team and you will miss a lot of history if you jump right into this novel, yet it is a stand alone book as well. The entire series is a great series full of mystery, suspense, action, friendship, romance and so much more. Susan Sleeman always does her homework and has a great writing style, she likes to keep you on the edge of your seat.

This novel is about former Recon Marine Alex Hamilton, He is a handsome jokester, whom we meet in the previous books, as he is a member of the Blackwell Tactical team. You really get to understand where he is coming from and some of his struggles in this novel. Alex must do his job and now protect the beautiful Whitney Rochester, and two children as well.

This novel is full of suspense, mystery, heartache, and so much more. I love the entire series, and the entire Blackwell team.

  • Mary Ann

Nurse Whitney Rochester must take her young nephew and niece and flee before her murdered sister’s husband finds his kids. Her place of refuge turns into another murder investigation, as well as a place where other criminals may be active. Trapped by a blizzard, will they be able to remain safe? Blackwell Tactical teammates Alex Hamilton and Samantha Willis are onsite to try to apprehend a gun runner. They get involved with Whitney’s protection even while investigating whether she could be connected to the murder. The danger and the tension ramp up while other sparks build too. What does the future hold for this trio that has been thrown together? This exciting drama is fast-paced and keeps readers guessing. I’m glad this series will continue. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

Former Recon Marine Alex Hamilton who is a member of Blackwell Tactical is on assignment working undercover at a ski resort. When Whitney Rochester’s brother-in-law kills her sister, Whitney fears for the life of her niece and nephew. She can’t leave them in her murderous brother-in-law’s care so she goes on the run with the children to be sure they’re out of his reach and ends up waitressing at a ski resot. When a shooter takes out a man in close proximity to Whitney, Alex becomes involved with protecting her and the children as well as his own case. Is there a connection between the two cases or not?

Sixth high level suspense novel from Susan Sleeman in her Cold Harbor series. I love the relationships between all the employees at Blackwell Tactical and the support they give one another. Super suspense from start to finish.

  • Rachel DeVaughn

Chapter 1 immediately starts with an intense scene and continues with the same momentum through the very last chapter. I absolutely love this series and the Blackwell Tactical team. This can be read as a standalone book since the story focuses on Whitney and Alex; however some of the other team members are mentioned throughout this book.

Intense drama and suspense throughout the entire story and it wasn't predictable at all, which was awesome. I highly recommend this book and this entire series! Clean, Christian suspense with some romance.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

    Murder, mayhem and a blizzard!
I love the Cold Harbor series, though each book could be a standalone, I love getting to know this team! Cold Pursuit starts with Whitney being on the run with her niece and nephew. As they try to disappear from her murderous brother in law, they seek shelter at a mountain resort. Alex and Samantha are undercover with Blackwell Tactical at the resort when a murder, blizzard, and gun runner are wreaking havoc. Can they keep Whitney and the kids safe? Read to find out!

Goodness. Another GREAT book by Susan Sleeman. I didn't know the answer to the problem until she told me. LOL Of course, I usually spend very little time trying to figure it out and just enjoy the story. And WHAT a story it was. LOVED every single page. The chemistry. The denial. The suspense. *sigh* :) I received this book from the publisher/author for the purpose of review. The above is my honest opinion.

    Armor we wear

An exciting and suspense - filled story with a twisting plot that left me breathless! Entrapped in a raging blizzard at a small mountain resort with the possibility of multiple killers on the loose, Whitney must trust Blackwell Tactical team members Alex and Samantha to keep her and two children alive, I could feel the cold wind and snow, the fear and the attraction Whitney and Alex fight. Another great adventure with the Blackwell Tactical family !

  • Laura

COLD PURSUIT may be the sixth book in the series, but it easily stands alome. Alex and Sam are the two members of the team featured in this story, but wow! They had a major job and plenty of excitement.

As per Ms. Sleeman's style, you think you have it figured out who-dun-it, but there is a twist that you never saw coming. This is NOT formula romantic suspense.

If you like romantic suspense, you will love the Cold Harbor series.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

  • Kara

It started out promising, but soon became the exact same story as all the others in the series. The location change was nice and I enjoyed seeing how Alex and Sam worked in the limited conditions. Typos appeared in this one, and I was disappointed that Ms Sleeman did nothing with Alex's disabling injury. In fact, she mentioned it only twice and if you aren't paying attention you may miss the first mention.

  • Another_Book_to_Ponder

I always like to point out when I read a series if the books have to be read in order… this series does not need to be read in order. Each book in the series focuses on a different member of the Blackwell Tactical Team.

Book Six is all about Former Recon Marine Alex Hamilton who is currently working undercover at a resort with Samantha Willis investigating a gun runner. Things get interesting when a man is shot and Whitney the waitress at the resorts dining facility is seen running away. I’m not going to spoil the book for you…

I’m a huge fan of Susan Sleeman’s writing style and her amazing gift for weaving a story that keeps my attention to the very last moment of her books and creating characters that are relatable. I also appreciate a good book with just the right amount of romance!

Her next book in the series…. Cold Dawn which I believe will be out in January! I can’t wait!

*I received a complimentary copy of this book from The Partners in Crime Street Team and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

Number six book in this series. This one features Alex of The Blackwell Tactical Group. Alex and Samantha (or Sam as she wishes to be called) are at a ski resort undercover when a blizzard hits and everyone is stranded. When people start being murdered they have quite a job on their hands keeping everyone safe and especially Whitney and her niece and nephew who are already hiding out. This is an excellent book in the Cold Harbor Series. Be sure to not miss out on this whole series.
