A Nanny For the Reclusive Billionaire Reviews
-
My first read by Regina Kyle is one I can class an absolute winner and A Nanny for the Reclusive Billionaire was the perfect introduction to her writing.
Rhys was Captain von Trapp. Cold. Impersonal. Emotionally unavailable. And she was his Fräulein Maria, the sweet, innocent maiden sent to help heal his wounds and make his family whole again.”
This story literally had it all, the sexy brooding and struggling single Dad, his cute-as-a-button little boy and the spitfire nanny who arrives and, after some initial hiccups, steals the hearts of both father and son.
For the first time in a long time he wanted something more, a real connection with someone who shared not only his bed but his hopes, his dreams, his life.”
To get the balance right without the deceased spouse feeling like they’re a third wheel for me isn’t easy, but Kyle nailed it and whilst Rhys is filled with guilt over his loss, burying himself in his work, it never overshadows his building feelings for Mallory or rediscovering the joys of being a dad to Oliver.
...you crashed into my life like an asteroid and changed everything.”
Another author who’s placed herself on my must-read list.

A Nanny for the Reusive Billionaire is a standard, clean romance. Min drama. A single dad trophe. Miss Kayle putting death and sickness as a background story.
What I wish more is more depth into the characters. More drama and more alive converstion. In short, more of everything.
For a standard clean romance, this book is OK
3 stars -
5 - He shouldn't want her... It was wrong on every level. Stars!
I love a good romance with a little of the forbidden added to the mix. Although I think the best thing about the Nanny/Single parent trope a lot of the time is the addition to kids into the mix of the story. And as much as I loved Rhys and Mallory’s story, the author absolutely nailed it Rhys’s son Oliver.
She wasn’t going to let herself become a walking cliché…
The other huge plus for me with A Nanny for the Reclusive Billionaire was that it is the first book I have read by Regina Kyle, and I knew without doubt after the first couple of chapters that she is someone I will be reading more from in the future.
The intensity of their connection shocked her. It was like for that brief slice of time they shared one breath, one pulse, one heartbeat…
Nothing massively new or unusual with the plot, this is definitely one of those stories that lives up to the blurb, but Regina gave me a great couple, an adorable little boy, a beautiful location, and some really well written sexy-times to keep me entertained. So much so, that I could have happily read a few more chapters of this couples coming together after the inevitable drama the pulled them apart, or an extended epilogue.
Nevertheless, this is an author who has stepped straight onto my auto-buy list with just this one book, I enjoyed it that much.

First, let me say how happy I was to find out that Mallory was self-sufficient before she met her billionaire! Many times when I read billionaire romances, whether it be in well-written fanfictions or full length novels, the character that the billionaire falls is not really self-sufficient. Even if they claim that they were fine before the billionaire came into their lives, they were really living in a barely decorated apartment, barely eating, and sometimes even being emotionally hurt by every single person in their lives. Mallory was different. She was an amazing chef who had been making a decent living at her family's restaurant, and then she just decided that she wanted to be out from under her family's name. Sure, her family had babied her ever since her bout with childhood cancer, but she wasn't incapable of functioning without Rhys. This made her fitting character for Rhys to fall in love with. He would not have fallen in love with a woman who could barely take care of herself.
My favorite part of this entire book was definitely seeing Mallory and Rhys' son get closer. Even though his son was very stubborn, like his father, Mallory was determined to find a way into his heart. She refused to let a four-year-old get the best of her, and soon, even he falls for her. It really allowed the family dynamic in this story to blossom.
During the book, I forgot that Mallory had battled cancer in childhood at one point. This book really shines a light on the issues that cancer survivors face on a daily basis. She still has to go get bloodwork done often to make sure cancer hasn't returned, even though her bout with the disease was over a decade ago. Also, some people can't get past the fact that she was so sick at one point in her life, even though that time has passed. By adding these small details, it just makes Mallory's backstory feel more unique yet realistic.
The plot of this story moves fairly quickly, but it wasn't so fast that I felt lost. It also wasn't insta-love, like many of these contemporary romance stories are. The two might have thought the other was pretty/handsome, but they weren't ready to get married in a week.
Also, these romance stories are never complete without a "damsel in distress" scene. Nevertheless, this book puts an interesting spin on this trope. I won't spoil anything, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised.
Overall, this is definitely going on my list for favorite romance novels! I read it in one sitting and was addicted from start to finish, and fell in love with the characters.
I would recommend this book to lovers of adult romance novels with realistic characters.
I received an advance copy of this book and this is my voluntary review. -
This is a fun, contemporary romance featuring Mallory Worthington who is endeavouring to escape from the restrictions imposed on her by her over protective and manipulative mother and Rhys Dalton trying to protect himself and his young son by living on a relatively isolated island. She is an heiress who had cancer as a child but is now grown up and has rebelled by leaving her job as a chef in the family’s flagship hotel to go to work as a personal chef and nanny on an island in the Florida Keys. She definitely wasn’t ready to be fired before she ever met her young charge! However, Rhys still hasn’t recovered from the tragic death of his wife and has cut himself and his young son off from the world in an attempt to protect them both, and he realises Mallory is definitely going to break down the barriers he’s erected around his heart if she stays.
This is a story of guilt, over protection, temptation, grief and finding love again. It is an endearing story and the real star of it all is Oliver, Rhys’s son - he’s absolutely brilliantly portrayed throughout the story. Mind you, I have to say that all the characters are well developed and easy to relate to as they - and their locations - are brought to life by the author’s talented story telling skills and I’ll definitely be looking out for more by her in future.
I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it. -
Mallory may have survived a bout with cancer as a child, but it still haunts her because no can forget it, which means they still her as the sick little girl, unable to do things on her own...fragile. She's a chef, and darn good at it, within her family's company, but she needs to escape that and start all over. What better place than an island working as a personal chef and nanny for a recluse? She may not know anything about being a nanny, but she was a kid once, so she can figure it out, right?
Rhys, a billionaire, tragically lost his wife and is determined to ensure his son remains safe. His answer? Move to an island where he can have essentially complete control over the visitors. He knows he needs someone he can trust to help with his son, and even though he knows Mallory fits that, including the necessary part of knowing how to cook, the reaction she causes in him makes him fire her. She makes him feel again, and he can't risk that. She's a temptation he can't have.
Mallory has one week in this position while Rhys looks for a suitable, read as along the lines of Mrs. Doubtfire, replacement, but that's more than enough time for she and Rhys to realize the feelings they bring out in each other can't be denied. And, Rhys isn't the only one that stole Mallory's heart...his son has claimed a piece of it himself and vice versa.
How far will Rhys go to protect himself from possible heartache again? Will Mallory and his son bond? Is Mallory the answer to their prayers instead of a danger to their defenses? Is a HEA possible?
One-click now and follow along as two people, each with their own emotional issues, meet and realize their paths were always due to collide.

I adored this delightful story right from the very first page. Mallory is a wonderful strong character and she's not about to let Rhys steamroll her. Getting fired within five minutes of meeting your new boss probably isn't the best way to start a new job but she's faced worse in her life and she won't let all his grumpiness stop her. After the death of his wife, Rhys secluded himself and his young son Oliver away from the world. The last thing he needs is for his son's new nanny to be as tempting as she is. Nope, she needs to go! Try as he might he can't get rid of her and the longer she sticks around the more the walls he's built around his heart begin to crumble.
I highly recommend this one. -
A very nicely done category length romance. Heroine desperate to break free from her stifling past as a childhood cancer survivor takes a chef/nanny post on a small island in Key West. The hero tragically lost his wife and decides isolating himself and his child on a remote island is the only guarantee to keeping his son safe. A nice blend of angst and sentiment, with some lovely traces of humor tossed into the mix (the heroine's relationship with her sister is dynamite).

3.5 - new to me author

This was a fun contemporary romance featuring the tried and true romantic trope of the employer falling for the nanny. However, I enjoyed the fact that Rhys didn't want to hire Mallory at all because she wasn't "old and gray like Mrs. Doubtfire." Having lost his wife, Rhys didn't want any temptation in his house so he fired her on first sight. Fortunately she was able to get a one week reprieve as they looked for a replacement. nanny. Sure the outcome was predictable but the story itself was enjoyable since it was filled with likeable characters and made for a fun afternoon read.
-
Rhys likes to be somewhat of a gentleman, “not here,” he growled, moving toward the one hall in the house she’d never gone down—the one that led to the master bedroom. “Our first time is not going to be on my godda*n living room couch.” Rhys is always thinking ahead, “then I thought we’d follow that up with a walk on the beach and a night in my bed.” I liked this book, I loved Rhys.
-
The hero is annoying me. “Oh no. I’m disrespecting my dead wife because I accidentally hired a hot nanny.” Now to make the nanny’s life miserable cause that’s respectful to your dead wife!? Ugh.

If a story can be both sweet and spicy, this would be a good example.
In a play on the classic Sound of Music, we have the sweet and adorable Mallory rolling up as the new nanny for the cold and reclusive widower who happens to be a Billionaire. As you do.
Like Maria, Mallory didn't intend to become a nanny. She was going to become a nun and dedicate her life to g*d. Oops, wrong heroine. Actually she is a brilliant chef and destined to be cloistered by her overprotective family in her family hotels for the rest of her natural life. So pretty much the same thing.
Cos Mallory has indeed lived a very cloistered life up until now, sheltered by her family after a childhood fight with cancer. Then Mother Superior...aka...Mallory's rebellious and independent streak...tells her she needs to go out into the world to experience life away from the cloisters...er...family run hotel.
When a job as a nanny comes up on a secluded island in the Florida Keys she decides it's far enough away from the nunnery/family-run-hotel in NY to allow her to be herself without people breathing down her neck. She figures looking after seven children...aka one little boy...should be a breeze after managing a whole kitchen crew of prima donnas.
Rhys has been a widower for several years. The tragic death of his wife has made him a little paranoid about protecting his loved ones. Particularly his son Oliver who never leaves the island. He is also very protective of his emotions due to guilt and stuff. Which isn't a good thing when you are bringing up a preschooler. Or when you find your new nanny is very attractive. Also feisty. Also very attractive. Physically attractive. What's a guy to do but fire her.
Of course that isn't quite so easy when there isn't a Mrs Doubtfire lookalike in the background ready to take over and leave your libido safely in oblivion. So Mallory has to stay...for a while anyway.
This was a very sweet story with an underlying sizzle that pretty much explodes all over the shop once it gets loose. Let's just say that the nunnery isn't looking at all appealing to our young novice anymore. She's singing an entirely different tune now she has learned what notes Rhys can play. *cough*
Overall this was a very enjoyable story of a young woman with a mountain to climb when it comes to opening up the billionaire to new possibilities and a new life. It's clear that somewhere in their youth or childhood, they must have done something good. Cos here they are standing there...well you get the picture. -

Mallory Worthington is finally read to live life the way she wants instead of living in a gilded cage. So, when an opportunity arises for her to use her skills as a chef while being a nanny to a four-year-old boy, she takes it. However, she never imagined she’d fall in love with Rhys Dalton, the reclusive billionaire that gave her the job, especially after him being so determined to send her on her way the moment they meet. Will Mallory be able to convince Rhys to take a chance on her or will she walk away from her shot at happy ever after?

This is the second book I have read by this author Regina Kyle ,I have enjoyed reading this book and the Billionaire in her bed.The story is about a chef who was working for her family and then decided she needed to move away from her family after ending a bad relationship with a boyfriend. I like how Regina brings her story to a whole new level, and athe character Mallory is able to see things in a different light,Move on after having beating cancer , and finding a new love under different circumstances, plus adding the love of a little boy into the story was awesome . I truly enjoyed reading this book

Very well written and well paced. All the characters were likeable, smart, and acted their age (which is hard to find sometimes in romance novels).
I’m not typically a fan of widowed main characters, so I assume this could get more stars if you don’t have any issue with it. I just find it hard to read about someone talking about the love of their life or soulmate who has passed away while trying to enjoy a romance. -
This was a really good quick fun read. I just love a good billionaire romance add in a Nanny and it is just perfect for me. It was well written and it I was quickly pulled into the story I just loved Mallory and Rhys together but have to admit my favorite characters was Rhys son Oliver a super well-written read.

A Nanny for the Reclusive Billionaire is a romance story by author Regina Kyle.
I enjoyed the story and it was a relatively quick read. I find most romances to be predictable, which doesn’t bother me if they are well written or told. This one was told quite well.
Here’s the basic set up. Mallory Worthington is a young woman who spent much of her childhood fighting deadly cancer. It left many scars on her heart, not physical ones but the experience of spending time with other children who didn’t survive takes a toll. Her parents are way over protective and kept her pretty much prisoner into adulthood. She attended and graduated from a wonderful culinary school. Her parents expected her to work for their luxury hotel, so they could keep an eye on her. Needing to get away from home and experience life and freedom, she interviewed and applied for a nanny job far away from New York.
Rhys Dalton is a tech billionaire who was widowed almost ten years ago and left to raise his son alone, except for household staff. Rhys’ wife was slain in a drive by shooting in New York. He carries a lot of guilt, because she wanted to move to their Florida island and he was too busy with business at the time. Afterward, he took his son and became a recluse to keep such a thing from happening to his son. A bit much but given his wealth and ability to work from anywhere…understandable.
The writing is well done and very descriptive. The characters are developed and loveable. My favorite is the son, Oliver “Ollie”. He’s imaginative and very smart for a young child. He stole my heart in a New York second.
The attraction between the two main characters is immediate and is the cause of the original issue. Rhys doesn’t want to feel the attraction and thinks he’s dishonoring his wife, so he immediately fires Mallory upon seeing her. He apologizes but doesn’t elaborate on his reasons to her. His driver/assistant is Collins and he persuades Rhys to keep her there until they can replace her…a couple of weeks.
Okay. That’s the set up and the rest of this lovely story you must read for yourself. They say the devil is in the details and the details are very interesting. I encourage you to grab a copy and see for yourself! -
It's the week of release (September 10th, 2018)
Make sure you add it to your Want to Read shelf!
When I first started this book I was skeptical purely based on the title and the short description I had received. I am not normally drawn to single dad/nanny romances. Nor do I tend to go for anything that is mentioning a billionaire because they always feel very unequal. As if the woman should just want to be with any person with money or that, they direly need them to change their life. Therefore, I was going into this book thinking I knew already I was not going to like it, but A Nanny for the Reclusive Billionaire took me by surprise, and I ended up really liking it.
In this story, we follow Mallory a young woman who spent her childhood dealing with difficult situation that caused her parents to be very protective of her. Even now as an adult they are having trouble letting her free. Rhys on the other hand is a single father who has really seen the darkest side of life, which has caused him to hide from the world. When Mallory is offered the job of cooking and watching Rhys’s son she cannot say no to an opportunity to try something different away from the people holding her back. What starts as awkward run-ins ends up changing both of their lives. Sometimes the people do not expect, show you dreams you did not know you had, and open your eyes to things you were not ready to see.
This definitely was not a situation where Mallory needed the money per say. She had already really gotten successful on her own being a chief. I liked that it was not your typical damsel in distress romance. They both needed each other to challenge them and the world they had been living in. I loved the relationship Mallory had with Rhys’s son Oliver. It was so important the way they connected with each other. It was quickly this mutual understanding and love, which was so special for the book. The challenges they faced you could understand them. They never felt like pointless arguments and that definitely had something to do with the way the author let us get to know these characters.
There were not many negatives for me. I do not know if it was the title, description, or just my own bias that turned me off at first. I did want to ask if maybe there was a book for Mallory’s sister I missed because it felt like at some points I should have known more about her life. If you know if there was a book for her comment and let me know below. The last thing I want to mention is that a few times I found myself wishing for just a little bit more. I wanted to see the scenes we could not, like the saying goodbye and the leaving scene. I wanted it to keep going in general which is also a positive, because that meant I liked it enough to be willing to read more. Anyways this book was an awesome surprise and as they say, you can’t judge a book by its cover.

WOW!!! I loved, loved, loved, reading A Nanny for the Reclusive Billionaire by Regina Kyle, book two in her Billionaire series. Cancer survivor Mallory, now an adult, needed to escape her overprotective parents so she takes a job as a nanny on an exclusive island. Mallory is not your typical nanny; she’s a professionally trained chef, take a leave from supervising the kitchen of her wealthy parent’s flagship hotel in New York City. She needed to make this break in order to take charge of her life. Rhys is a widowed father of a four-year old who has forgotten how to live life to the fullest; suffering survivor’s guilt after losing his wife in a terrorist attack; and not spending enough time with his son. After meeting Mallory, Rhys did not want her to continue in the job in fear of becoming attracted to her. After seeing her in action and connecting with his son, he allowed her to stay. He just had to avoid her to keep from falling for her.
I loved seeing Mallory grow more self-assured and confident in her interactions with Rhys. No longer fearing being fired, she stood up to Rhys, challenging him to spend time with his son, join him for meals, and reassess his priorities. Once Rhys decided he could no longer deny his attraction to Mallory, or their shared chemistry, he allowed himself to open up and realize he could love again. I loved Mallory’s obsession with nail polish, especially the comical names for the colors, and the fact that Rhys noticed this about Mallory. Of course Rhys also had an obsession, PEZ dispensers and its candy.
Ms. Kyle wrote a wonderfully moving story filled with sexual chemistry, fun dialogue, and endearing characters that is not to be missed. I highly recommend this book to other readers.

You are going to want this book! It's fast paced, brings all the feels and delivers a sweet 'n sexy happily ever after in the end! The characters are well developed and each bring their own backstory to draw us into the plot. He's living a life of guilt and misery, stuck in the past and she's trying to spread her wings and be the person she's always dreamed of being for the first time in her life. And the best part of all, there's an adorable little boy who will steal your heart! If you read Regina Kyle's previous book with Entangled, you'll see a familiar face in this story as Mallory is Brooke from that book's sister. I didn't think Brooke and Eli could be beat, but I loved Mallory, Rhys and Oliver even more. Highly recommend!
Chef Mallory Worthington is sick and tired of being coddled. Yes, she had cancer as a child and fought a long, hard battle to beat it, but she's been in remission for years, so she's tired of her parents trying to make her live in a bubble. When she finds an out of state job opportunity as a chef and nanny, she jumps at the chance to get out of New York for awhile and stop working for her parents.
Billionaire Rhys Dalton became somewhat of a recluse after his wife was killed and he took his son to live on a private island off of the Florida Keys. He will do everything in his power to keep his child safe from the ugliness of the world around them. When he sees that the new nanny he hired isn't the elderly, grandmotherly type he was expecting, he fires Mallory on the spot! He changes his mind of course when he sees how interacting with her brings his son a joy he hasn't seen him exhibit in a very long time. Now if only he could resist the temptation of such a beautiful woman within touching distance! -
It's review time 🎧
Blurb 📜:
Mallory Worthington has had enough of being treated like a fragile flower. She needs to get out of Dodge, as far and fast as possible. Somewhere no one knows about her childhood battle with cancer. A talented chef working at her family’s flagship hotel, she leaps at the first job opportunity that meets her criteria – personal chef and nanny for a reclusive and insanely hot billionaire in the Florida Keys. She doesn't know a lot about the nanny part, but how hard can it be?
Billionaire Rhys Dalton cut himself off from the world after his wife was killed. Living on this remote island was the only way he could ensure the safety of his son. Finding someone willing to help him take care of his child, well that's been a challenge right up until Mallory knocks on his office door. She makes him think and feel things he hasn't in years. He's smart, so he fires her on the spot.
But she's not going anywhere, no matter how hard he might try to get rid of her.
Warning ⚠️: a little boy, a widow , a nanny that is recovering from cancer.
Narrator score🎧 ; the narrator was nice.... I didn't really like the voice she gave the boy... it wasn't really good. But with that said she did a good job with the adult voices.
Level of steam🔥: the book was a slow burn and they had like two cute moments nothing over the top
Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: I think that this book could have been much harder but it wasn't and I liked it. It was good.
The book itself📖: I liked this book overall the story was cute I think for this trop it was nice. A very likable book to listen to. -
Actual rating: 2.7/5

This was okay? Fine? Nothing exceptional, just your typical romance read. I don't really have much to say because the story isn't one to stick on my head for a long time. The book follows a story about a woman who leaves her city to an island and starts working for this widower as his son's nanny. The heroine is a cancer survivor and the hero's wife was murdered and is still grieving her after three years.
Thoughts and feelings:
🍁The characters are flat in my opinion even though both of them are going through reasonably tough things. I didn't really connect with either one. I didn't really care that much about what happens to either of them. I think the only good thing about this book is the son's character. He is funny, naive and adorable. Still, he's not really flashed out that much😑
🍁I'm not a fan of insta-love in general, so I knew going into this that I won't enjoy it as much as I'd like to. It was really a pick on a whim kind of decision. So, yeah. It is very insta love, which has made me not believe in it that much even though the characters go on and on saying how it feels more than that. Which...excuse me how? It doesn't seem like real to me?
🍁Collin, the assistant, seems like an interesting character. I would have liked if he's not neglected in the story that much. He seems to really care about everyone. He makes things easier for a lot of characters. And yet he's not given any share of character development 🙄
