Rob Rogers Fights a Unicorn: Anki Legacies of Urban Myth 0 Reviews
-
* Rob works for Filter Fixers, he has a wife and 2 kids at home, but has to travel around for his job.
* Rob also has an addiction to Pokemon Go, and desperately wants to find a sasquatch.
* When his friend tells him about a horse farm where the mares get pregnant without having sex, and one kid thinks he saw a unicorn, Rob knows he has to check it out.
- This was okay, I liked how unpredictable it was, and it was nice that Rob finally got to see a supernatural creature or two, even if it wasn't a sasquatch. -

I got this copy elsewhere for a book review.
The main character (Rob Rogers) is the typical salesman. Even plays a video game on his cell phone while walking around Buffalo, New York in the Niagara Falls area (they re much better looking from the Canadian side, IMO). Who carries on a relationship with the author (or the author has a very vivid imagination),
The main character Rob eventually arrives in Saratoga Springs to hunt for unicorns and proves to be singled tracked minded: an acquaintance is a shapeshifter with a purple tail and he fails to notice it.
They finally have the unicorn/shifter boxed in (sort of). To hear him speak English, and look like Pan.
“A life of solicitation had created a man gifted at building bridges.”

So naturally, the first words out of Rob s mouth are anything/everything except set for building bridges. (He may want to be the action type, but wants aren t always a great deal of help when you re far outside of what s normal).
Howsoever, the racehorse stable owner and the unicorns reach an understanding that should help each of them in their own unique ways.
Shen and Rob reach an amicable understanding in town (Rob got a new side job and a partial memory block/erasure).
But that s fodder for another episode . . . . -
I received Advance Reader copies from my writing pal.
Rob Rogers Fights A Unicorn is a fun, short romp of a very pulpy nature. To me, it seemed like an X-Files episode (one of those strange, humorous episodes, with a bit of cryptozoology) mashed up with a less likely early episode of Grimm. We have the travelling salesman, the alien overlord (maybe, maybe not), the super-secret terrifying conspiracy group, and a Scully twin (I think). While not everyone’s cup of tea, it will tickle many funny-bones.
At times, it can read like a guys-own story, which I thought distracted from the main action going on, but it fits in the old-timey pulpy-feel very well, I thought. I also thought the beginning was a little too long and would have preferred the action to arrive sooner.
I Recommend to: Old-timey Pulp Fiction magazine aficionados, DC/Marvel lovers seeking a new universe, foodies with a taste for the fantastic, X-Files and the lighter side of Grimm fans. -
Rob Rogers Fights a Unicorn - a review by Rosemary Kenny
Rob works for Filter Fixers, but is also a paranormal investigator and co-editor of a Conspiracy podcast, with pal Shane, in this fabulous novella by S Shane Thomas.
Following a tip-off from a desperate stud-farm owner about the supernatural goings-on with his mares, Rob heads for Saratoga and gets the shock of his life, when he and the ranch-owner investigate the stables!
What do the stunned pair witness? What is strange about the studs covering the mares at the ranch?
Where do the intruders flee when chased? Who else do Rob and the Ranch owner find as the chase ends?
When do the Agents appear and what is unusual about them?
Can the newcomers be trusted? What happens next?
The truth behind the strange encounters and their very different purposes at the ranch will stun and thrill you, especially if you're a fan of X-Files and Dr Who. Don't wait to get your copy - gallop to the nearest bookstore and start reading! -
Keeps moving and keeps you turning the page. This is a very intriguing story with great characters (mostly) that are easy to become involved with. Very interesting ending.
