What better excuse for excessive foxy gifs than a book about fox shifters

As you’d expect from a book called “For Fox Sake” this was fun and ok maybe wasn’t the most well written thing I’ve ever read but it did suck me in. It was funny, cute and the FMC kicks butt!

Kenzie is a witch with no powers and we meet her stealing a potion for her sister who’s lost her powers to a curse. She’s breaking into a vault with the help of her handy tech magic. She has a charm for everything, from hiding her scent to better hearing etc etc. They give her an advantage when she has no powers of her own. ..Except for her super computer smarts and Ninja Kung Fu gymnastics. Oh and her unexplainable power to smell if someone is a shifter or not and what kind they are...

She meets her 3 men while stealing the potion they are all naked of course. All muscles and stuff.

They steal the potion from her and the rest of the book is basically her trying to get it back along with developing her relationships with the foxy foxes.
It’s not a spoiler to say they are her fated mates. It’s right at the beginning.
They all have a troubled past to match hers but are fun and love to play games. I think the Emma did a really good job of putting a foxes characteristics into these guys. Well what I’d image a fox might be like if he shifted into a man.
Multiple POVs help with this too.

This book is shy on the explanations - especially the powers, both the foxes ability to feed on pain and the tech magic- but I just rolled with it. Don’t overthink it and you’ll have a good time. I’m a sucker for the mate bonds so I’m blind-sighted to the bad stuff. It’s pretty short and available on KU so what do you have to loose?

    3 Ok-ish Stars

Treated like crap by all but two family members, Kenzie is the only none witch in her family, but that doesn't mean she's weak or defenceless. When her younger sister's powers end up stripped from her due to a powerful and illegal curse, Kenzie promises to find a way to get them back no matter what - she refuses to watch the sister she loves wither away. Kenzie as a specific skill set that mean she can steal what she needs without getting caught, but what she doesn't count on is 3 fox shifters (Alpha Hunter, Ash and Finnick) ruining her plans.

There were moments in this that really amused me, but didn't really feel the chemistry between the main characters - hopefully that changes in book two.

Also the way in which Hunter and to a degree Ash and Finnick, dealt with the potion after realising Kenzie was their mate, it wasn't well done by them and their actions sucked.

This is a reverse harem book, the first of 3 interconnected books.

    Acquired via KU.

This book has been on my e-reader for quite some time already and it has been even longer on my wishlist. It's almost a year ago that someone first told me to read a book by Emma Dean and that this was the perfect starting point. However, there are so many books I wanna read and I keep on adding new ones to the list and e-reader. But, this was the perfect book to fill the "author name starting with a D" - option for the N.E.W.T.'s.

It didn't take long for me to get into this book. The first chapter was already quite amazing, introducing the characters in the best way possible and I was so curious to know what was going on and what was going to happen. It's a pity that I had to work in between, else I would have maybe binged the entire series in one day.

This book was a little bit of everything I like. The characters in this book are quite intelligent and even though hormones are messing with their brains it's not that bad. On top of that there is a lot of politics in this book and I'm very sure there's much more to come in the other books. To make it even more perfect we have a heroine who is strong and not just because she knows how to fight and we have three lovely men, all very different and unique.

There's also a really nice build up. Usually when characters discover in chapter three that they are mates, it doesn't take that long before they end up in bed together, but in this case the characters really thought things through. The attraction was there, the lust was there, but they really wanted to make sure that this was what they wanted, that this was how they wanted their future to be, before they acted on all those feelings and emotions. That made the moments it eventually happened even better.

And then there was the finale. Damn! I can't wait to see where this is going!

    re-read 2020
Still adore this series and I find the guys to be so unique. I love that they are tricky, playful, and sweet. Always playing some type of game, but still definitely can be serious.

    ----------------
I loved this series -- the whole thing. I might have had a few problems with it here and there, but I'm glad I gave it a chance. Also, I'm a huge fan of foxes and I'm glad we got other shifters besides wolves.
Loved it so much I read the two standalones in the same world and am dying to get started on the other series. Why haven't I? I'm worried I'll end up in a mini-slump again when I can't read the whole series in one sitting.

    Fun and quick read

I had a great time reading this. Kenzie is so awesome; she loves her sister more than anything and will do whatever it takes to help her. Kenzie has been through a lot in her life and she totally deserves three gorgeous fox shifters to care for her. I liked that this wasn't insta love and took some time for the four to sort out their feelings and form a bond. I'm excited to read the sequel!

  • ❀ Crystal ✿ - PEACE ☮ LOVE ♥ BOOKS

I really enjoyed this book. I think it was a good start to the trilogy. It reminded me a bit of the Kit Davenport series as Kenzie is a badass bitch in her own right even though she has ZERO powers. Goodness I can’t believe the hell shes been through I mean for years her family literally Tortured her, yes her own family, all to get her powers to manifest. I cannot fathom this but I have mucho respect for her because she keeps her bodies’ scars more to serve as a constant reminder of their wickedness, not that they care. But I mean really who tortures a child? A child whom they believe will come into this Supreme power. If you ask me, they are lucky she didn’t come into power because if that was me the first thing I’d do would be to vanquish their asses lol. I’m spiteful that way.
Then blurb does pretty much outline the story, there’s not much it doesn’t touch on and so most of the story is her finding and bonding with her three foxy mates, pun intended. I found this to be a semi slow burn (she sleeps with one of them near the end) but there was certainly no instalove moments between them all. They all showed hesitation with the mating, scared of being tied down and all that goes with it.
Alas Kenzie is desperate to help her sister and if hanging out with these hunks and taking down an enemy is what she has to do, well damnit she’ll do it lol. She is also a computer genius and a pretty badass fighter. She may have had this insane urge to mean something and to be something to her parents but unfortunately they still see her as a no one. In response she turned her back on it all and trained in many ways and places, honing her body into the best she could be, as a 100% human. I’m curious if she really is so plain or if that’ll change later in the series, she’s been through so much and is beyond strong so we’ll see. I can’t wait to see where this series leads and how her relationship with her harem proceeds.

This was SO DAMN GOOD. I'm so happy I picked it up! :D

This reminded me so much of the Kit Davenport series, which is my favorite RH ever. So I had high expectations for this book. I was so worried it wouldn't live up but it did and then some! There were definitely some things I liked about this book that were done differently in Kit. In Kit, her guys almost instantly fall for her. In this story, everyone's hesitant. Even though they all know their mates they are all still questioning the bond and if they even want it. And I loved that part of the story.

I felt the story didn't go as fast as I wanted it to. Kenzie and her guys are just really learning one another throughout this mostly. The story is there. But you're just learning what's happening through information. Which was fine, but then everything popped off at the end and you now know that the story is going to progress as it should in the next book. Hopefully.

But seriously. I loved this. It was so good. It didn't knock Kit out of her top spot for my favorite RH. But Kenzie and her guys are definitely up there in the top five! :D

    Great Reverse Harem Urban Fantasy

This author is new to me and I just downloaded this book based on the blurb. I’m really glad I did because it was a very enjoyable read.

Kenzie is a witch who was born without power. Treated abysmally by her coven, she has only ever loved two members of her family, she’s either ignored or berated by the rest.

Whilst Kenzie has no magic, she is incredibly intelligent and physically fit with many martial arts under her belt. She overcompensated for being without power, by pushing herself to her limits.

Kenzie’s sister is a powerful witch who has had her powers stolen with a curse. In order to prevent her sister’s eventual death she tries to steal a potion that will give someone magic powers. When she’s in the midst of stealing it, a group of three fox shifters instead steal it from her. In order to get the potion back, she agrees to help with a contract they’ve taken on.

I loved the concept of this book, a witch with no powers is a very interesting main female character in a paranormal book. Kenzie has been hurt tremendously by the people who are supposed to love her, but she has remained strong and independent despite it. She has compensated by using charms made by her sister and creating tech-magic in tandem with her as well.

The three foxes are interesting characters too. None of the foxes are related, and the way they met is part of what makes intriguing. Each of the three is vastly different and speaks to different parts of the Kenzie’s character. It’s enjoyable watching her start to bond as they work together.

The world building for this book is very well done. I really like how the author explains about the covens and how they are run, over the course of the book. We also have to learn about shifter culture too, which is done as we hear about the foxes and their history.

What makes me classify this book as an Urban Fantasy, as opposed to a straight paranormal romance, is the plot. The plot is complex and interesting and would stand alone even without the romance part of the book.

This is the first book in a trilogy, and I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the series, as I really want to know what happens next.

This is pretty delicious. Its not perfect, there are some parts that could do with more explaining and I'm waiting for the big reveal but this is a good read and I did enjoy it despite the other negative reviews. Its an easy read with romance and sex, just depends on how deep you want to look!

This was a really cute book. Kenzie is a great character she is funny she is smart she is witty and really enjoyable to read. I think the premise of the story is pretty interesting and I was fascinated by the whole fox plot line and their little cute sayings or puns. Overall I really enjoyed the book it’s somewhat slow paced but then fast paced and it definitely ended on a cliffhanger because the story wasn’t finished so I’m going in the book 2 right now. I definitely like the three fox shifters Hunter Ash and Finnic they are pretty cool characters and they all have individual personalities which is nice to see sometimes the personalities blend and you can’t tell the difference between mates but this when you can.

Why do I find these guys so endearing

Well there were good parts of the story, a few questions left over but hopefully they'll be explained in the other books. Grandma is funny and I like the world. Everyone seems to have a strong personality but it works well. Interested to see if Bradley gets whats coming to him.

  • Missy Brown

In the same world as Spotter Her First, For Fox Sake is about Kenzie. She is on a mission to get a potion. She just may meet her mates on said mission. Kenzie will do anything for her sister, which makes me love her more, and i thoroughly enjoyed her first meeting with Hunter, Ash and Finnick. With a great plot and great characters this is going to be a fun series.

  • Michele Moore

    I loved this book!

Amazingly well written, fantastic world building, strong characters with twisty pasts... Just overall awesome. I can’t wait to read book 2.

    For Fox Sake recipe:
Grab your cauldron and throw in some humour, dark history, a dash of violence and a pinch of spice. Stir well and enjoy.

This book was exactly what I was looking for to get me out of my book slump. I was a bit skeptical as it is only just over 200 pages but I loved every bit.

Kenzie is a powerless witch born into a powerful family. Brought up tortured and virtually abandoned, it's no wonder she turned to the darker side of things. If it was not for her youngest sister and their bond, I have no doubt she would have come out much rougher.

On her mission to break her sister's curse, she meets her potential mate triad - mischievous foxes. And they just so happen to take the only item that she needed.

*I am now hurriedly packing my bags, items are being flung about and I'm frantically stuffing in one last sock in order to follow Kenzie's journey. Cannot wait!*

  • Kristen Dalrymple

Okay I loved this book! Kenzie is so sassy and funny. She is so strong. I love her relationship with her sister. I have a feeling the alpha may be her mate and the reason he wasn’t before was because she has lost her powers? Brad is a douche. Honestly he’s a terrible person. I can’t wait for them to bring him down. I love all the guys and how different they are but how they compliment each other and her so well. I love Edith. How she cares for the girls and the fact that she put a hit in brad. She is awesome.

  • Jodie

I tend to skim this genre - reverse haram - I’m intrigued by the idea, but have never really found one I’ve liked.

  • Christina's Library

I feel like this book could've been so much more. I like the storyline but the depth isn't there.

  • Lana (Lore & Lullabies)

    Really fun PNR. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Plenty of action, humour, and spice.

  • Jessica Robbins

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Dean has done it yet again with her incredible world building and characters you can grow to love. We meet Kenzie a witch with no powers yet she still has some truly awesome skills. She attempts to steal an important potion when she is out smarted by three wily yet hot fox shifters. What follows is hilarious as they all outfox one another in constant battle while essentially falling in love at the same time. Just as things reach a nice peak we get the cliff hanger of an ending which sets up book two quite nicely and I personally will be dying to get my hands on it. If you like shifter RH romance you really should try this one. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

  • Kennedy Mitchell

Loved it! Can’t wait to read book 2!

  • Mary

Really good series. The plot (i.e. the main villain and her finding and building a relationship with the 3 fox shifters) spans all three books. I wouldn’t say that it ends in cliffhangers, per se, but the plot does remain unsolved at the end of each book, so you will want to roll right over into the next one.

The three fox shifters are great characters. They’re all a bit damaged in different ways and of course our girl helps them heal and work through their issues, and they help her out in turn. She’s just as damaged as they are since she is a witch born without magic and her family has shunned her, and even gone so far as to torture her as a child to try to awaken her magic. Thankfully her little sister (18-19 years old now) totally loves her and makes up for the rest of the family. Oh and grandma is cool too.

Kenzie is a computer wiz and has trained in a lot of martial arts across the world. For a human she would be that special snowflake that is too good at stuff, but in the witch and shifter world, she’s still nothing. She relies a lot on some charms her sister made for her to help boost her hearing and strength so she can hold her own when surrounded by witches, shifters, demons, vamps, and fae. When she falls in with 3 fox shifters who are also mercenaries, it helps her to be on near equal footing with them and they totally respect her (while wanting to protect her of course).

There is the instant mate thing (at least from the guys side, since witches don’t have fated mates), but the guys are damaged enough that they resist/resent the fated mate idea at first, fearing it’ll mean they have to change and be someone else for her. But they slowly realize that maybe she’s right for them and they don’t have to change. Maybe she’ll accept them as they are. And she’s willing to cautiously see where things will go. She’s attracted to them (who wouldn’t be; they’re gorgeous men!) but they also have something she wants, so she has to work with them. It’s a medium burn. There’s romance and sex, but it’s gonna take longer than one book for them all to accept the bond.

    Next please

    Okay WOW.
I LOVED this book! The author has done a great job developing her characters and their relationships. I love that we have a badass female main character and 3 hot as hell mates. I really can’t express how much I enjoyed the authors storyline. I’m super anxious to read the next book and find out where this goes. Kenzie is a witch without powers mated to three fox shifters. She’s on the quest of getting her sisters magic restored and taking down the guy who cursed her in the first place. Definitely a book you need to read!

  • Sydney

    Amazingly well written!

This is the first book I've read from this author and, based on this book, I'll definitely be checking out her other works. For Fox Sake is funny, action-packed, emotional, and sexy as hell. The characters are well defined and develop well throughout the story. The book is also extremely creative in blending magic and technology for innovative uses. Really looking forward to book 2!

  • 4foxsake

    Loved the story!

I love loved Kenzie and her triad of foxes. Not to mentioned her love and devotion to her sister. The world building of the witches and shifters is great and the villain, Brad, a faceless danger. I still wonder about the tiger shifter and if he was being truthful with the mate bond. Cannot wait for the next book!
