A second successive volume of
Ayme Sotuyo art, doesn't do this book any favours, as I feel she's the weakest artists (furthest away from the original renditions) on the roster. On top of that, despite the stellar cast and constructed reality, this magic goes wild story feels a bit off-kilter as did the telegraphed character story one of the Roanaoke's had. 7 out of 12.
On the plus side we still have those delightful exclamations - "Thank Nancy Wake!" -
I had absolutely no idea what was going on in this volume.

TIME BUBBLES!!
I haven't read this series in about a year or so now, I've been waiting for it to pile up a bit so I could binge some. This was super cute, I'm still not sure how I feel about the newer art style but the story was good!! -
I absolutely love these characters and the colours on these comics, yet in the past 2 volumes the plot feels non-existent. I reckon that a major event is being set for the future and that's the reason we have some details that are a bit confusing or that feel like they have no purpose.
Also we have some comebacks from characters we met in the past that I don't recall anymore, it would have been great if we had a throwback page to recall past events and refresh our minds. -
I love books that play around with the concept of time, so I was really intrigued when I learned what this book was about. However, I do think there was a lot more to be explored when it comes to the way time works in this world and while that may happen in future issues, I was underwhelmed by the way it was handled in this book. There just wasn't... that much thought given to it. And I know that these graphic novels aren't really about the different magical aspects of this world, but rather about the characters, but I still wish we could have explored that more??? It just felt a bit simplistic to me. But I do hope they bring it back in future issues because I'm curious to see how it's explored further.

We learned in the last Lumberjanes novel that Molly and her parents didn't see eye to eye and that she was afraid to invite them to Parent's Day as the camp wasn't what they assumed. They thought they were sending Molly to a camp for young ladies - a bit like Finishing School. Of course, they got a shock as they arrived late to Parent's Day and discovered a different sort of camp. Now that Summer is heading to an end and soon it will be time for the Lumberjanes to head back to their real lives. In Time After Crime, Jo our resident scientist has been busy creating an invention to measure time as they have noticed some strange oddities happening and in parts, time seems to move slower. One evening, Molly hears a wee voice telling her how to slow down time, as Molly doesn't want camp to end - she does what the voice tells her. However, the consequence for slowing down time is about to cause a whole lot of mayhem for the camp as stranger than usual things start occurring like Ripley becoming a giant and their camp leader Jen - a little girl and Rosie - ages to a really old woman. Can Jo and the rest of the Lumberjanes save the camp and turn back time. Find out in Volume #11 of the Lumberjanes Graphic Novels and stay tuned for more fun Lumberjane adventures. -
I'm definitely warming back up to the series as the ongoing storyline finds its feet again, after what feels like a long series of side quests. Jo completes her timey-wimey detector thingy, and then, well, things go pear-shaped. There are some cool action moments though they are not always drawn as dynamically as I think they deserved. Several characters from past volumes return, so it helps to have kept up to date on re-reads if, like me, you've had a break from the series around the mid-point.
-
Accidentally missed reading this one in order. I really enjoyed getting into some of the folklore around the camp’s history, but I wish it was explored further. Hopefully in following volumes (I have two more to get to) it will be explained more.
-
Another fun volume in the Lumberjanes series! I wasn't in love with the art this time around but I did like that we got a little bit more info on the weird time stuff that is going at the camp, although in true Lumberjanes fashion it definitely raised more questions than answers. I hope the next volume continues in this direction.

quick thoughts:
• It really didn’t take me long to warm to the new art style!
• and I mean, TIME SHENANIGANS. I'm a sucker for anything to do with time travel or parallel worlds so I was in my element
• I really loved Jo’s scientific waffle and Ripley being adorable about the plants and the treehouses
• I’m intrigued by the sentinels and what they are hinting is in store for the camp and what was happening between Rosie and Nessie
• Also, Molly and her character development gave me all the feels. Seeing all of the Roanoke girls shower her with love and tell her friends can be her family? *gentle sobbing*

Girl power!

2.5
I didn’t enjoy this quite as much as the other ones, but it was still cute, has good lessons and friendships. -
I loved the time plot which has been the continuing mystery on the camp. I keep wondering when will this series end. The end of the summer is getting closer and closer.
-
Story
This was an interesting take on "living in the moment". One of the janes doesn't want to return home at the end of the summer so they do something foolish to extend their time.
I continue to find this series endearing. It talks about a lot of friendship and making the kinds of friends who like you for you are and not pretending to be what you're not to fit in with the crowd. It does so with humor and fantasy elements that always have me reaching for the next volume.
Artwork
I feel like the artwork is different every volume. Early on it was fairly consistent, but now it seems like they keep rotating through artists. None of it is ever bad, it's just never quite the same. -
Ooof. It's really, REALLY hard to criticize a series you truly love, but it has to be done here.
The new art style is not good. The characters at some point don't even look like themselves. Even worse, at other times they look so similar you can barely tell who is who. The little things that used to make this series a visual treat are gone in favor of nearly amorphous blobs with no pupils or teeth.
Even more disappointing is the story line. It's simply not going anywhere. How long has Molly's story been painfully drawn out with no details/advancement/resolution? I'm to the point where I simply don't care anymore. The series seems to have lost its humor and joy, and that makes me sad. -
This was my least favourite volume so far and I think I'm probably giving up on this series soon. I normally brush off not liking volumes by saying they're filler or focus on one of my least favorite of the girls (and in all fairness, this is definitely a Molly volume and she's definitely the character I least enjoy focusing on) but given how plot heavy this was, I probably should have liked it.
The series is really losing momentum and all of the girls are starting to feel too generic and similar to each other. I'm still going to give volume 12 a go and hope this was a fluke, but I was really let down by this one. -
This one was not one of my favorites. I didn't care for the art and the story line wasn't the best. While I liked that Molly wanted to slow down time, I didn't really get the whole tree stone statue sentry voice thing. Oh well. Here's to hoping the next volume is better.
-
While I enjoyed the story here, I did not enjoy the art work as much as I have in some of the other collections. Also, I have forgotten for sure who Abigail is? I guess I could go back to re-read but I just don't want to. So, all in all fun and cute like I've come to expect with Lumberjanes but short and not my favorite artist.
-
Can't say I blame Molly. Time is never your friend.
-
Time After Crime was fine. Something about this installment felt shorter than usual even though I believe the length is standard for the Lumberjanes volume. I missed the funny, heartfelt moments between the campers in the Roanoke cabin that I've come to expect from the series. Time After Crime was largely focused on an external plot rather than the friendship dynamics in the group. There's nothing at all wrong with the external plot -- these just don't tend to be my favorite Lumberjanes installments.
-
I think it has been too long since I read the last story, some of the carry over story lost me. This was another good installment of the adventures of the Lumberjanes. We also got to meet Abigail...sorta.

4.5 stars
-
This one seemed shorter than the others in the series.
I still prefer the art style from the first volumes.
Interesting story. -
Better than the previous volume. But the art is bad. The stories have changed as well. Instead of enjoying the Lumberjanes find and fix or survive a problem. Now the Lumberjanes are the cause of the problem because "reasons". I don't know. This comic is not giving me the quality strong women stories that hooked me.

I feel like this one was the perfect continuation to
Lumberjanes, Vol. 10: Parents' Day. In volume 10, we saw Molly's struggle with her family and how the Roanoke campers have become her family. In this one, Molly, concerned about going home to a crappy family, makes a deal with the voice of an unseen entity, to slow time down at camp "a little" so she can stay longer. Of course, hijinks ensue. One thing I especially love about Lumberjanes as a series, is even after they make mistakes, the other campers continue to support and help them and work through their feelings, instead of being angry or bitter. After reading, I had closed it, and looked back at the cover and just have to say how much I appreciate this cover. -
I hate giving a
Lumberjanes title such a low rating, but I wasn't totally digging this collection. I hate how much the artwork has changed over the years, and though the art in this wasn't bad per se, I don't deal with well with the change. An the story has just gotten so confusing and convoluted and is all over the place. I don't remember what happened in past installments, I don't know who most of these characters are, I'm just kind of at the point where I might be reading these because they're here. :\ -
In the last volume, we found that Molly was afraid to invite them to Parent's Day as the camp wasn't what they thought it would be. They thought they were sending Molly to a camp for young ladies - reminding me of those debutant type courses where you learn manners and such. They were shocked when they discovered the type of camp she was at. Now that Summer is heading to an end and soon it will be time for the Lumberjanes to head back to their real lives, an invention to measure time is thrown in the mix. Molly hears a wee voice telling her how to slow down time, as Molly doesn't want camp to end - she does what the voice tells her. Never mess with time is basically what we end up learning in this volume once they start to explore their invention.
-
3.5 rounded up to 4 Stars because I like this volume just a wee bit more than the other volumes which have been hit-and-miss or mixed bags. The story arc was was decent and I definitely laughed more than once. I love these girls!!!

Doesn’t hate the substance of earlier ones in the series.
