As she waits to give her statement in one of the interrogation rooms of Arcata Police Department, Abigale recites the same line over and over inside her head.
I did not kill anyone.
I did not kill anyone.
But there's a trail of bodies, and it leads straight to her. The events that brought her to this very moment all point to one thing . . . her guilt.
She must convince Detective Collins of her innocence, but how can she explain her ties to the victims, and the evidence that has her name written all over it?
Then there's the mysterious Facebook profile, DarkHeart434.
Who is DarkHeart434? And why does it seem like this person has all the answers, including the identity of the real murderer?
As pieces of the puzzle start to come together, everything about Abigale's life begins to unravel--her past, her present . . . and even her self-proclaimed innocence.

A must-have for all the lovers of psychological thrillers and mysteries – this is a book that will show you a twisted side of a human being so well, that you will not know what happened once you reach the end! A masterpiece of a thriller – a delight for all the murder solvers out there!
''She remembered now. The deaths. They weren't just delusions planted in her mind by others. They were real.''
This book starts in an interrogation room, where two detectives are questioning Abigale about the murders that happened - and she is the main suspect. As the interrogation happens in the present, we follow the story in the past from Abigale's point of view, from the moment she moves into the new town.
The story and plot are so well set, and the past and present are so well connected that give you clues step by step, until you reach the grand ending, and nothing is as you expected. Even though I realised what is happening around the middle of the book, I still had to keep reading to find out whether it was true in the end.
This is, for certain, the best ending of a mystery book I have read so far!
The characters - some of them - are so twisted, and so psychologically unstable and scary, that it makes you wonder. Such possessiveness and anger, and twisted mind - Amy managed to perfectly such a rare condition. ( I am trying so hard here to stay away from all the spoilers.)
''Abigale wasn't the outgoing type. She'd rather sit in her room with her nose buried in a book than socialise with anyone outside her inner circle of friends, which was small to begin with.''
I wish I could connect with Abigale's character - but I just couldn't. That was the only flaw I had with this book. I didn't care enough for her, and for what was happening to her. The side characters were amazingly portrayed though - I enjoyed reading about Julia and Mike, and Damien - what an interesting character!
''There was something about him that made her feel alive and ready for anything, but there was another part that screamed danger. She wasn't sure she liked either half.''
The ending, as I already mentioned, was the best one I have read - it was so unexpected and so amazing - I can't explain that feeling of satisfaction when all the little pieces from the puzzle throughout the book finally come together - spectacular!
If you love mystery, psychological thrillers and good book that keeps you on your toes all the time - this is the book for you. I highly recommend it!
Thank you to the author, Amy Crandall, for sending me an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If you are looking for a psychological thriller fix then I say get your hands on a copy of Delusions right this instant! Wow, this book just nailed that genre of fiction! It was a mind-bending rollercoaster filled with twists and turns that you will not see coming! This is a story that you have to pay close attention to because from chapter to chapter the story evolves but sometimes I felt like it devolved and maybe I missed something but what really happened was that the story was (sneakily, mind you) heading in a different direction. I was kept on my toes with this crafty whodunit of a story.Delusions is the type of story that stays with you long after you finish reading! It is a fast-paced thriller filled with suspense and mystery that I highly recommend!

I wanted to read this book because it sounded different than my usual reads. This was my first time reading this author and overall it was a good read. The plot held my attention but certain parts felt a little flat for me. The whole romance angle really didn’t do it for me at all. I know it’s YA but it was missing something. The suspense parts of the story were well written. I had a few theories as I read and I was right about one thing. Other things I didn’t see coming and talk about plot twist! This author has a lot of potential and I’m looking forward to reading more books in the future.

Amy Crandall’s Delusions was a different book than what I typically read. I didn’t realize going into it that was a YA book, and I typically avoid them. I paused in my reading a couple of times to check the description to make sure I hadn’t completely overlooked that information, so if it matters to you, now you know! But, this is a psychological thriller, so does the characters’ age matter?
This was the first time I read this author and her storytelling was not what I typically experience. The story went between police interviews and the past, but I didn’t realize that’s what was happening at first. I didn’t really like the main character Abigale and was suspicious of her from the beginning. I was probably most surprised by her thoughts regarding her mother and father’s relationship and the physical abuse her mom suffers. I had to keep reminding myself that she was a teenager and some teens are selfish but it definitely affected my opinion of her. Her home life is chaotic, she only has one friend and her school life is pretty miserable. And, what she’s familiar and most comfortable with changes in minutes when her mother moves them during the night. And then things get a lot more confusing at that point!
When you hear ‘psychological thriller’, this book is the epitome of that. It’s deceptive because what you think you know is incorrect. I’m telling you upfront, you’re wrong :) I had my suspicions about many things that happened in this story but I definitely missed a lot. I’m totally blaming it on the changes from time periods, lol. I had a lot of questions but I won’t put them in this review because I don’t want to give anything away about this story! But it definitely had me thinking and trying to figure out what I missed.
Overall, this was a really enjoyable story. I didn’t like the main character and I really wished I liked any part of her; I think that could have let me connect more to the story. This book was like a ride on the craziest roller coaster you could imagine for the future. There were some twists and turns that I was surprised by and had I liked the main character even a little bit, it probably would have really thrown me. The ending was CRAZY. Depending on who you are, this ending was amazing or frightening!
4 stars!

Delusions is one hell of a crazy ride, that in no way am I giving any sort of description, because I think it's best if everyone goes in blind. Amy Crandall has definitely penned a story that messed with my head, as I never saw it coming, and those are the stories that are the best in my opinion. Her talented writing style kept me turning the pages as quickly as humanly possible because I needed to know "who dun it" and boy was I surprise when it all came out. Which means that the twists & turns were around every corner as it went back & forth between past & present, so all I could do was drop f-bombs as each layer was slowly revealed. I stayed on the edge of my seat waiting for that other shoe to drop, and instead I got every shoe that I owned showering down on my head, as my heart stayed lodged in my throat. So anyway, that's all that I need to state for the record, because anymore may result in spoiler douchery, and that would be just plain mean. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I really was not sure what I was getting myself into when I started this book. However, I couldn't put the book down because I had to see what going to happen. This book took me on turns that I didn't see coming and really had me guessing to what was going to happen and I never guessed correctly. I will say that I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to read this book and can't wait to see what Amy Crandall comes up with next.
Abigale is your typically teenage girls that has her life turned upside down when she is forced to move. When she starts her new school things look like they are going to work. Then things start to happen to those close to her. Will she figure out what is going on or will she be the one responsible of those things?
I really don't want to give anything away so to find out the answer to my question above make sure to read the book. -

I really liked this book! It intrigued me right from the beginning.
I especially loved that the book alternated between chapters and the detectives interrogating the main character. I liked Abby as a character and really appreciated the authors insight into how teenagers think. Some of this book creeped me out...in a good way and in a “um, pretty sure this isn’t supposed to happen way.”
I’m not going to give the ending away, but this is a must read. It had me hooked to find out more throughout the entire book. I highly recommend this book to those who like suspense and thrillers!! -
My first book by Amy Crandall and it was wonderful. Very well written, this story grabs your attention and has you flipping the pages too see what's going to happen next. It's definitely a thrilling read, one that had some twists and turns I didn't see coming. If you're looking for a new suspenseful book, check this one out!!

What a fun read! Twists, turns, and that ending! I had this book read in less than 24 hours...and as a toddler mom that's saying something. If you want a page turner, grab this one--you won't regret it!

I've always had a thing for crime dramas and documentaries so of course I was instantly drawn to Delusions. Well after finishing the book and I am still shocked from what I read. Secrets and lies with plenty of suspense, Amy Crandall gives us a twisted whodunit where the stakes are high and terror is the name of the game.
I love that the storyline is written in such a way that you are learning about what's happening and then immediately backtracking to get the details of how it came to be. You are instantly in the middle of something big with the beginning taking place in a police interrogation room with the main suspect, Abigale Fern. The shadow of doubt is quickly cast and I felt like one of the detectives trying to fit all the random pieces together to see the full picture of who did what.
Although I did like that Delusions was fast paced, I didn't really connect with any of the characters. Abigale and her mom leave their home so quickly that there's no time to see how their lives were in San Francisco. Now in Arcata and immediately in a new school, Abigale does make some friends but spends most of her time at home alone. There is also the neighbor, Damien Thackston, but he isn't in as many scenes as I would have liked. Romance is scarce in this book which I didn't really mind, I like that most of the focus was on Abigale and what's happening to her. A great first book for Amy Crandall, I recommend Delusions to anyone wanting to be kept on their toes and I look forward to future works from this author. -

Thank you Amy and Enticing Journey for the opportunity to read this book!
I definitely enjoyed this book. I liked being able to guess what was going on throughout the book. This is one of the few times I actually don't mind being wrong about something because the ending left me speechless. There's some wiggle room to make a sequel so please Amy make another book that continues with Abigale's journey! If you are interested in young adult mysteries then go check this book out! -

Wow! Just wow....I literally cannot even form words right now. I'm like a blabbering mess.
This book is...beyond breath-taking! I could not put the book down. And it shows. I finished it within less than two days of its release. And I had no idea what to expect. As soon as I saw the cover, read the blurb, it had me hooked. I had to read it! And I'm so glad I did.
My heart is still racing right now as I try to wrap my mind around it all but I'm just astounded. It was unpredictable. It was thrilling. It does exactly what it says on the tin!
I would love to dive deep into my theories, what predications I had but I'd hate to spoil it. You need to read this book right now! I'm serious! The writing is flawless, the plot is original and unique, and I am genuinely upset that it is over.
READ! READ! READ!

I couldn’t believe it!!! You will never guess who the killer is. I thought for most of the book that it was Damien. Turns out it wasn’t and it was her all along. Well... her split personality. Her evil self. She kept saying she didn’t do it and she was half right. Her innocent half didn’t do it but the bad half did. Guess everyone has a good and a bad side right? Well she had an identity disorder which caused her 2 personalities.

So I’m all about them psychological thriller books guys, and this one was awesome. It’s one of those books that has you second guessing everything you think you know. From chapter to chapter my thoughts on what was going on changed. Is Abigale gulity? Is she not? The synopsis had me hooked immediately and I finished the book pretty quickly, because I just had to know how it all ended.
Now I don’t want to give anything away, so let me just tell you all the reasons why I loved this book. It reminded me so much of The Girl on the Train in the sense that Abigale is totally an unreliable narrator which is one of my favorite things to read. You never know if what you’re reading is the truth or if there’s something about the story that you’re missing. Abigale is such a fascinating character, but the whole time I was reading I couldn’t decide if I actually liker her or not.
This book just really sucks you in, because who doesn’t love a good mystery. I was pretty damn shocked by the ending which made me so happy. I loved being surprised by a book, because that doesn’t happen much anymore. I found the author’s writing to be descriptive, which is perfect for a story like this. While at the same time it wasn’t overly descriptive, which I truly hate. The whole story was just so brilliant and I’m excited to see what else the author comes up with! If you enjoy a good mystery, definitely read this one!
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna -
Keep in mind that this is only my opinion, and others may really enjoy this. I feel that the concept for this story was a really good one, unfortunately the execution did not work. The story jumped around with zero transitions, nothing made any sense, and I read the book having no clue what was going on, but not in a good way. Yeah, not a fan but someone else might be.

This is a psychological thriller at its finest! If you thought Gone Girl showed just how twisted humans can be, you’re in for a big shock with Delusions. The book begins in the interrogation room but flip-flops between past and present in each chapter. This is great for people with no patience because Crandall really does divulge information in dribs and drabs. Slightly frustrating because this is a story that drives you mad guessing what will happen next, but this method successfully adds to the overall tension.
Abigale is the main character in Delusions so naturally one would expect to find themselves drawn to her. Unfortunately, I couldn’t connect with her, even if she wasn’t necessarily unlikable. However, as I’ve said in many reviews before, having an unlikeable main character is not a bad thing. In this case, it worked excellently as it kept my mind bouncing between advocating for Abigale’s innocence and condemning her. I was actually more intrigued by more minor characters like next-door neighbour Damien and Abigale’s mother (just what does she have to hide?). So, while the focus of this book is mostly on Abigale, there is enough going on in the background to split your suspicions into different directions.
One more thing before I conclude, this is marketed as a Young Adult book. If you are not normally a fan of this genre, please don’t immediately dismiss Delusions. Believe me, this is an excellent book for any age.
Needless to say, I was absolutely hooked. There are so many questions to be answered from the very start and the reader becomes invested in finding out the conclusion – a skilful strategy to keep readers until the very last page. I can’t believe that this is Amy Crandall’s first book!! I’ll be eagerly awaiting her next offering.

Good book
I enjoyed this read even though I figured out the plot early on. It was well written, and I felt for the mfc. She needed help and never got it. Mental diseases effect more than just the person. Would recommend this book. -
1⭐️
I felt like Delusions was a random selection of events happening to the same person with not much plot between them; no flow. Inconsistent characters and no character development. The plot idea was good but the execution severely let it down. -
intense
From the first page to the last this book had me on the edge of my seat The suspense and the mystery unfolding on each page was intense
Very well written. -
Delusions’ synopsis and cover intrigued me and made me want to read the book. It is a psychological Thriller told by Abigail, who is being accused of murdering one of her friends.
The book goes back and forth from Abigale’s interrogation and flashbacks, so you’re reading everything that leads up to how she ends up in the interrogation room. I believe this was a genius thing the author did. The whole time I was reading I believed Abigale was guilty. The twist and reveal were done at the right moment and the author does a wonderful job getting you interested in the secondary characters.
However, I was mainly interested in finding out if Abigale was guilty or being set up.
Overall this was a great thriller. It kept my attention, had me invested in the characters and anticipating what would happened next. There was some repetitive sections with Abigale and her friends, but it didn’t take away from the plot of the book. I recommend Delusions to those who love suspense and psychological thrillers.

This book wasn’t bad, I actually enjoyed most of it. Just to me, many things didn’t add up and I had many questions at the end. Overall it was a decent psychological thriller.
-
Unfortunately, I had to DNF this book. I found so many issues and inconsistencies in the 23% that I read of this one. I really liked the interrogation room scenes, but the rest of the story left me confused.
