Living Reiki: Heal Yourself and Transform Your Life Reviews
-
This isn’t the type of book that you can sit down and read through and have a complete understanding of it. This is the type of book that I know I will return to again and again along my Reiki path. The book is chock full of meditation exercises to use in breaking down the energy blockages within us.
In reading the book through once, I know there were areas that just didn’t sink in so I’ll have to return to them again. One thing that really stood out for me is how we can contaminate Reiki by using our own personal energy (which may well be messed up yet) or if we impose our ego on the energy. We need to spiritually heal ourselves in order for healing energy to flow well. Self-acceptance is at the center of this well-written guide.
While I’ve been thinking of the five precepts of Reiki on a daily basis for almost a year now, Ms. Tipton gave me new insight into those precepts. There’s even a Divine Scavenger Hunt that I’m looking forward to embarking on.
Recommended.
This book was given to me by the publisher in return for an honest review. -
Living Reiki is a wonderful book for anyone interested in Reiki or getting into spiritual allignment. It's more a deep journey into self development and self care and healing.
I enjoyed many aspects of this book, the meditation especially.
Anyone wanting to explore their own mind, needs to read this. Probably more than once!
It's so absolutely full of wonderful information and exercises.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. -
Parts of this provide personal insight, and some parts of it left me scratching my head. If you have a strong footing in traditional Reiki materials and want to read something different—or perhaps you have a beloved client/family member that is more into the Wiccan world—then this book offers a refreshing take on Reiki already known. It also conjures Reiki and energy exercises that are far more complicated than they need to be. Should you find yourself stuck between Wicca and Spirituality, or if you're interspiritual like me, then you could root through this and find curious bits that can be applied to you. For the average, everyday Reiki practitioner, this convoluted pathway to existing alongside the tenets of Reiki is best avoided. This book is not for beginning Reiki practitioners, not for beginning spiritualists, not for beginning Wiccans. I appreciate the way Melissa Tipton's mind works, and her writing is sincere.

Living Reiki is much more of a living life guidebook. Of course, Tipton does tell the history, tenets, symbols, and levels of Reiki, which are very informative. She writes explicit guidelines and practices to grow our inner lives and hence, outer. Tipton adds her extensive knowledge of Hermetics, Jungian psychology, and modern witchcraft teachings to Reiki, thereby enhancing and enlarging a spiritual path. Her writing and suggested practices are deepening and transcending as well as integrating vs. separating ourselves and each other. It is certainly a book to reread. Her bibliography and references are vast and very helpful for future information.

Living Reiki by Melissa Tipton is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in late November.
Emphasis on taking time to address your body’s energies and decompress in such as a way that you learn to know yourself from the inside out. Tipton goes into the origin, definition, and the flow of reiki by using many nature-based analogies and visualization, New Age philosophy, and outlooks, while emphasizing mindfulness, refocusing/recalibration, and self-massage (‘dry bathing’) exercises to remain in tune with your inner self. -
Living Reiki is a must-read for any person of a spiritual slant. Actually, while reiki is the topic, it's only a back-seated veil for growing and evolving. Granted, reiki does this on its own. It just does. In our personal experience, it is past psychic.
We aren't trying to dissuade anyone from reading Living Reiki. No. What we are stating is that it's deep, insightful, wise and helpful in a lot of ways.
The included exercises are great, in and of themselves. -
A good handbook for basic Reiki healing energy, practices, and principles. I am glad to have this to add to my library of energy work resources. Exercises, meditations and other information that is very valuable for learning and integrating Reiki into your daily life. The only thing missing is the guidance of a Reiki master for attunements and teaching.

This book has a lot of interesting information on reiki, not just an overview for those who want to know what reiki is about. I've been a reiki practicioner for years, and I found a good deal of useful information and healing exercises in this book.
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC of this book, which I will certainly have as reference for the future.
