Favorite Poems of Childhood (Dover Children's Thrift Classics) Reviews

  • P.S. Winn

Great collection of poems that will make people think back to those wonderful times childhood holds.

  • Lindsey

There are some fun classics in this collection, but a lot of them aren't that great. Other than the baby, I can't get my kids to listen to poetry except by coercion.

  • Katie Snell

I would like to buy this book to add some poetry to my library!

  • Vanessa

Cute collection of classics! We read these throughout the 20-21 school year. “The Land of Nod,” “Hurt No Living Thing,” “Jabberwocky” and “I’m Nobody, Who Are You?” were some of our favorites.

  • Ashley

There are a few gems in here, but even at a price of 3 bucks, this isn't a fabulous addition to our poetry shelf.

  • Mandy Knapp

Beautiful book of poetry. My 8yo and I loved it. It was fun to see which once caught her attention and how often they were different from the ones I enjoyed. Such a lovely time we spent together.

  • Heather

We finally made it through this! We read a few poems once a week so it took us a while. The boys liked some, didn't understand some, sometimes asked for more and other times told me to end it all early. This is a nice collection with simple drawings here and there. It's a nice collection to have in the house.

Has 2 of my favorite poems ("My Shadow" & "Who Has Seen the Wind?") as well as some childhood favorites and new ones.

    "Who Has Seen the Wind?"
    Who has seen the wind?
    Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves hang trembling
    The wind is passing thro'.

    Who has seen the wind?
    Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down their heads
    The wind is passing by.
    - Christina Rossetti

interesting collection of poems. Some were fun, other odd and difficult to understand even for me. But overall, a good way to introduce a child to poetry. But overall, a good way to introduce a child to poetry. We read a few poems each week throughout the school year.

Such a fantastic collection of poems for children from great writers! Great selection of varying lengths and types of poetry. We read straight through a few poems a day during our tea time. My children are 2, 4, 7, and 9.

  • Natalie Fullmer

Great poetry, my kids always enjoy these.

  • Caristy Olson

A great variety of poems to introduce young and old to poetry.

  • Bryan Spahr
