Jago Litefoot Forever Reviews
-
A lovely tribute to the late Trevour Baxter and bravo for Christopher Benjamin and the rest of the cast. Trevour would have been proud.
Jago and Litefoot being knighted and surrounded by friends including the Doctor and Leela is a wonderful setting.
The running theme of Victoria being upset by the Doctor is in this audio from Tooth and Claw is brilliant as the sixth Doctor is forced to go by another name and he has to wait for five regenerations to find out exactly why he has pissed of Queen Victoria.
So after listening to the behind the scenes of Jago, Litefoot Forever; the writers asked Trevour and Chris what ideas what wanted to do for series 14 and Trevour Baxter wanted an episode in series 14 for Jago and Litefoot to be in drag and Christopher wanted to explore more of Jago’s university life.
THOSE IDEAS SOUNDED AMAZING. -
This made me cry. I don't want this series to be over, which I know is ungrateful. But I sure do love them, and Ellie, and Quick. Maybe a spin-off, at any rate. The best Doctor Who spin-off range ever.

This release also includes The Jago & Litefoot Revival which I have reviewed separately, since it is also available on its own.
Jago & Litefoot ran for 13 4-part "seasons" (plus a few specials) before ending prematurely on a cliffhanger when one of the leads passed away. This final full-cast story wraps up the series with a celebration of its history. While that's the point of this release, it does also resolve the previous cliffhanger, albeit off-screen and without much in the way of detail. (It has, however, recently been announced that the planned 14th season has been re-written as a regular audiobook, to be released this summer for those who want the full tale).
Given that the purpose of this is basically nostalgia, the plot itself is quite good. It sees Jago alone, having to solve the mystery of Litefoot's apparent disappearance. His memory is also fading, providing a useful plot device as he has to fight it by recalling some of his experiences from past seasons - going all the way back to the first one. A considerable number of recurring guest stars from the series also make brief appearances, adding to the reminiscences.
The only flaw is the lack of banter between the leads, except in flashback scenes, but this is obviously unavoidable. In fact, once Litefoot does make an appearance, the editing of lines spoken in previous episodes into the posthumously recorded one is expertly done. Clearly, this is an episode aimed squarely at existing fans, but it provides a suitably stirring send-off for what's been one of the highlights of the Big Finish spin-off range. -
A retrospective of jago and litefoots cases.

It was sad listening to this release.
From the start, it is clear that this is "good bye" episode, not one of the "real" adventures. Many fond memories are shared and many old friends and characters come by and pay their respects.
The story itself is pretty unimpressive, but that is not what this is about.
I think it succeeds in it's intention and what it sets out to do- saying good bye.
I have become very fond of Jago and Litefoot and this is a pair of characters and a range of stories I will dearly miss.
Good bye, Jago and Litefoot.
And may you forever live in our hearts. -
