Doppelbanger (Cajun Girls #2) Reviews
-
I laughed at the first chapter, I laughed at the next one, I laughed at the antics, i laughed rolling on the floor, then I laughed some more !!.
It's a total comedy-fest with so many feels thrown in, I was wondering at the tears. Mirth and emotions, all bundled up so beautifully in this slapstick comedy of opposite attractions.
They could be in different situations, lives, worlds, but they'd still be attracted to each other so powerfully, because they are meant to be.
What she lacks in life, he provides, what his life has a missing link, she conjoins.
He is a very Chris Hemsworth type, CEO Jeffery. A struggling single dad of two young girls.trying to deal with teen tantrums and a kiddie princess. His hands, nights, life is overwhelmingly full.
He meets a sex therapist, open like all outdoors- Gina Bourque, on a cruise. Gina is very clear in her goals in life. No strings attached, no feelings sprouting, hot cougar sex and she's free and clear in the morning !
“You know... even the biggest, thickest, veiniest cock isn’t worth putting up with the dick attached to it after a while.”
The kids fall for each other, the adults try NOT TO fall for each other.
Man Proposes; God Disposes
“The girl done went and got dickstruck.”
what we see is hilarious situations, some laugh out loud moments, some very knee slapping scenes. I was constantly laughing.
I fell in love with the bumbling CEO. His daughter willow is adorable.....omg I wanted to pull her cheeks.
Gina's Godsons are handsome, smartasses and savage. they've just discovered puberty and all its fringe benefits and they're so full of themselves, it's hysterical !
Its Trail Of Tears .One day when some lucky lady, whoever she may be, gets her eyes on what I’m packin’... There will be tears of joy, or pain .”
The BEST COUPLE award goes to Willow & Savage🏆
I'm telling you, y'all NEED to read this smartly written story. You'll pee yourself laughing so hard. And it also touches you deep in your heart. Written exceedingly well, I couldn't put it down
“ No one’s ever touched me like that,” I admit, squirming a little.
“With a finger?”
“With their heart.”

5 HILARIOUS Stars!!!
One horny as hell 35 year old sex therapist, one sexy single dad and a whole lot of PMSL awkward circumstances makes for one of the best rom-coms I've read in ages.
I loved all the characters, they all contribute perfectly. Savage was killer though, I'd love to have a kid like that around just for the laughs. The relationship that developed between Gina and Jeffrey is refreshingly real, dealing with complex emotional problems that come with step families.
Have to give a mention to the dolphin scene, the looks I got from my family while snort laughing through the scene were pretty funny.
I highly recommend you read this if you are in need of a good laugh or just looking for something a little different. This was my first read by Heather but it will most definitely not be my last.
-
Okay, Gigi/Gina/Tink/Tinkerbell, you’re not really funny and the laughs you hear are of me laughing at, and not with, you.
You’re crass, probably a sex addict, in addition to being an alcoholic. How you completed med school is beyond me and come to think of it, how come you have so much free time? Or why you never mention having to go to work? Oh, and lest I forget, you’re crass (did I say that already? My bad).
*deep breaths*
DNF @ whothefcares%, after that nonsense with the stripper. Also, I’m pretty sure there were scenes in this book that were ripped straight from the movie “Girls Trip”. -
Dnfed @46%
As I was reading this book I was thinking as a mom. While these two were having sex like the bunnies the kids were left unattended, yes there were 3 teenagers and one 4 year old and one 3 years old. Who the hell was taking care of these two young kids? Why were they left unattended? My mind runs away very differently from most readers. All I could think about was that predators are everywhere and if I were the mother of these 3 kids I wouldn't have trusted the heroine with them sure she loved them but she wasn't that into caring about their safety.
I can't deal when author put their heroines in embarrassing situations. Like when the heroine throws up in the hero's d*ck while giving him a bj. Or when she peed herself in front of hero and her "nephews"
I liked the heroine enough until she called herself a ho.
Dare I say she becomes a bit pathetic? Was it only me who thought this? No? Just me then? Ok then.. Carry on.
And I draw the line where they both went to a strip club. I don't even know how that shit ended. If he ended up getting a lap dance from a stripper or if the heroine got off from watching that dance. I have no desire to read about the heroine getting her rocks off watching her man getting a lap dance from another woman. Call me whatever you want but I'm possessive of my man and I wouldn't be stupid to take my man to a strip club. -
Heather Orgeron writes romantic comedy like no other! My stomach hurt I laughed so much reading it. Hot and sexy and so funny! The one-liners were epic and the characters were people I'd want to hang out with! I can't wait to see what she does next.
-
There were many cringe-worthy moments, where author tried to make awkward situations into humorous laugh out loud scenes, that were just weird, embarrassing and so not funny. Also the way the kids talked was not quite age appropriate - they said things that are not possible for three and four year old to even think, much less say... Uf, I hate when this happens in a book.

I did a stupid thing. It’s a stupid thing I’ve done before, and I’ve told myself that I’d never do it again, but...yeah, here we are.
I bought the book because the guy on the cover looks a little Chris Hemsworth, OK? I can’t help it! I adore Chris Hemsworth. He’s gorgeous, he’s funny, and there’s always pictures out there of him being a great dad. He’s perfect in every way. Sadly, the hero in this book, Jeff, is no Chris Hemsworth. Not even close.
First of all, let’s talk about the title of this book. What’s with all the “provocative” titles in romance these days? Does everything have to have sex right there in the title? I’m all for sex in my romance novels, but Jesus, things are just getting a little obvious lately. Can’t we be at all coy?
Now, for my OTHER problems with the book:
1. I’m all for a sexually liberated heroine who goes after what she wants, but Gina was a little bit too aggressive even for my liking. I’m not going to slut shame (ever), but if she was a real person, I’d have serious concerns for her safety. It’s a dangerous world. You can’t just bang tons of complete strangers these days and expect to stay safe (and STD free) for long. And when two people who claim to bang whoever they want whenever they want and never “catch feelings” decide to bang without a condom? I get icked out. Very, very icked out. There’s WAY worse things to catch than feelings, folks.
2. Jeff is a judgemental prick. There’s no way around it. He’s a stick-up-butt, boring, rude asshat. The only thing he has going for him is his “wondercock”, and the fact that he actually refers to his penis as his “wondercock” (I’m not even making that up. I wish I was) only makes me hate him even more.
3. There are no “kids’ clubs” that are open from 10pm to midnight. So while it’s convenient that Jeff and Gina can drop the kids off at this mystery club at all hours of the night, it’s certainly far from realistic and had my bullshit meter going off like crazy.
4. The comedy isn’t smart comedy. It’s silly and/or gross, slapstick fare. There’s the time the heroine vomits with her mouth full of, um, something very sensitive that belongs to the hero (spoiler alert: it’s his penis), then there’s the time a dolphin attempts to rape the hero (again, not even making that up, though I SERIOUSLY wish I was), then there’s the time the heroine pees her pants in front of everyone...yeah, that shit’s only funny if you’re a 10-year-old boy. (I should know. I have the sense of humor of a 12-year-old boy, and the comedy in this book was WAY beneath me, which is sad, especially since I still giggle hysterically at fart jokes.)
5. There’s nothing remotely sexy or romantic about the sex scenes. It’s just a lot of pounding and banging. It reads like it was rejected material from some dude’s letter to Penthouse.
6. Jeff calls his daughter, Evangeline, Vange. This could just be me, but that nickname is dangerously close to “Vag”, which made me do a double-take every time I saw it on the page.
All that was enough to make me DNF. I’m sure Gina and Jeff got that crap together at some point. I just didn’t care enough to stick around to read about it.
But to the cover dude, I say, nicely done, sir. Nicely done. It’s not your fault that your image graces a book unworthy of your Chris Hemsworth-ness. I forgive you. -
I really like confident women but a little self-respect is really nice!
i'm ok with be sexually liberated but be so in your face, wham bam lets FUCK Cuz your "nice" its a little to much for me!!!
Its just my 4y daughter that is behind or all the kids in this book are a little grown-up for their age!!! Willow main though is to find a husband and Kyle aka Savage (the kid had no filter what so ever) is 5 going on 12 or 25 sometimes.
The H was sometimes a jerk but i understand the guy raising a teen and a baby all alone. The h was not the most reliable person at first glance! exemple: taking him to a strip club and getting a lap dance!! -

Heather has once again written a book that had me howling with laughter! Not only are the adults hilarious in their interactions with one another but these kids are INSANELY funny! Gosh, I really feel that they all stole the show! The same can be said for Boomerangers which features Gina's BFF Spencer (who does play a secondary role in this book). I do recommend reading Boomerangers first if you don't want her love story spoiled! That being said, I am loving Heather's novels. I binged these two one after the other and have downloaded a third which I plan to dive into once I finish my current readers. She has a fun, light, and quick witted writing style that really speaks to me as a reader. Not only that, I met her at a signing earlier in the year and she is a DOLL! I am happy to support her romances not because of how down to earth and sweet she is but because she can genuinely write!
Now onto the book... Dopplebanger (as mentioned above) features Gina's love story. If you read Boomerangers you will notice that she was Spencer's BFF and godparent to her children. She fun, sassy, and takes on a manly attitude about sex and love. She doesn't care to settle down, she just wants to live it up and enjoy one night stands in peace.
So why all the sudden is she catching feelings for the sexy father of two little girls she met while taking her nephews on a cruise? Well, if you want to find out then you'd have to read this hilarious novel! Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Their love story is unique, fun, and refreshing!

Hot and fun.
Whoa this started out with a trip but so much more happened throughout this hot and some funny moments.
Gina is so much fun. She doesn't know how to watch what comes out of her mouth but you can't help but laugh.
Jeff and his daughters are the cutest. Vangie is a typical preteen that believe her dad is out to ruin her life and Willow is just too cute and when she speaks its just too much.
Each are taking a trip for different reason but when both come together things just spark and not in a good way but you just can't stop laughing. There are some tear jerking moments but you find yourself empathic to the moment. I so enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what's next. -
Doppelbanger
By: Heather M. Orgeron
4.5 Laugh Out Loud Stars!!!
One thing I can count on while reading a book from Heather M. Orgeron is, real life laugh out loud moments written perfectly into a story! Doppelbanger is no exception!!
Gina aka Tink is a 35-year-old sex therapist who has no desire to settle down and marry. The white picket fence with 2.5 kids and a husband is not what she sees in her future.
Known as a cougar, she plays the field with much younger men. One and done is her way of life. In fact, it’s worked for her all these years. Why change what’s worked?
Jeffrey aka The CEO is muddling through life with his 2 daughters. After losing his wife several years ago, he wants to be the father his wife would have been proud of.
This book is a page turner! Make sure you’ve cleared off time to sit and read the entire thing. Because once you start, you can’t stop and pick up later. Doppelbanger is a quick paced romance comedy that everyone can relate to!

I know I’m completely in the minority here but I absohated this book and I didn’t get very far at all!!! Gina was not fit to look after kids. She is awful!! No self respect and very happy to shag whilst putting kids in a kid club which apparently operates from 10.00pm to midnight ( no idea where the author got this from!!!!).
I hated Jeffrey too. He is so judgmental with Gina yet first chance he gets he’s well up for shagging and leaving his kids too!!!
I didn’t laugh I cringed. A complete howler for me. Not sure I was reading the same book as everyone else. I only managed the first few chapters and called it a day. Apparently I missed the heroine being sick whilst giving a bj, peeing herself in front of her niece and nephew🤢and visiting a strip club together. Thank goodness I stopped when I did.
I won’t be bothering with any more books from this author. Clearly not my thing😞😞. -
Worth the Read
Full of laughs and heart. Great story full of lovable characters. Side note: Every family needs a Savage and hoping that the author will produce a tale with this character. -
People, read this book ASAP!
It's hilarious, I was laughing so loud my family didn't know what to do with me.
Ladies, the heroine wasnt shrinking violet! She wasn't virgin! She was sex therapist! And she enjoyed her sex live with full ride!
I loved her so much, oh man... She was so good and tender with Hs daughters, she was funny and sassy.
I give this book 4 stars only because of H.
He was a jerk, asshole and dumbass.
He made picnic on his dead wife once a month and he played with his daughters there... Morbid? Strange? Freaky?
I didn't like the way he pushed away heroine twice. He was soon in love with his dead wife.... I don't like this. Big fat NO!
Anyway, this book is great and funny!
I will reread it for sure! -

An ERR Top Pick!
What do you get when you have one seriously uptight single dad whose path collides with a sassy, potty mouthed sex therapist on the High Seas? Hi-jinks and laughter and sexy sparks galore!
DOPPELBANGER is all kinds of wonderful! And one of my ABSOLUTE FAVE reads this year, which is saying a lot because, in all honesty, I am a bit picky about my rom-coms. Okay…a LOT picky! They need to have a winning blend of sparkling humor, steamy passion and warm, gooey feels to float my boat, and this fetching tale has all that and MORE!!!
Holy cow…this is my first ever book by the gloriously talented Heather M. Orgeron and she has some serious writing chops. Her comic timing is PITCH-PERFECT, but her prose is also interlaced with stunning depth and bittersweet poignancy, and I had as many tummy clenching feels as I did side-splitting belly laughs! From start to finish, I just had the GOOFIEST grin on my face, my heart went pitter patter in my chest, and the lol funny banter and slapstick humor was so hysterical I nearly tinkled ! And yup, I shed some big, fat tears too!
As for the romance, well, they say opposites attract, and these MCs are PROOF POSITIVE! The chemistry between Gina and Jeffrey CRACKLES from page one, and despite their stark differences, they are pure magic together!
It’s pretty rare for me to worship the heroine as much as the hero, but in Gina’s case she is prime best girlfriend material! This tiny blonde “Harlot” is wild and crazy, ballsy and blunt, irreverent and fun-loving, and has such a HUGE MARSHMALLOW HEART! I just floved her! And since I am NOT a fan of snarky, hard-to-get heroines, I like that “Auntie Gigi” is the antithesis of all that. Sure she is sassy and speaks her mind (sometimes to everyone else’s consternation—ha-ha) but she makes no secret of how much she “enjoys” men (typically younger, commitment-phobic hotties, hence the “cougar” label). But then the “older” and way too staid CEO Jeffrey Ryan and his darling daughters enter her orbit…and it's a TOTAL GAME-CHANGER!
And as much as she wants to deplore the hot, sexy widowed dad for his rude, standoffish ways—and for initially trying to keep her and her beloved godkids at arm’s length--Gina’s insatiable attraction to Jeffrey is impossible to ignore. And OVARY EXPLOSION alert! When Gina catches a glimpse of her “nemesis” acting so sweet and tender with his “baby girls,” who can blame her from gravitating toward –and shamelessly propositioning --the big, blond Adonis?
Gah! Jeffrey is guaranteed to melt your heart AND your panties! But Alpha hotness aside, his life has certainly not been a walk in the park. I hurt so bad for all the poor guy’s been through after tragically losing his wife. He’s just so broken inside but then “Tink” blows into his world like a tornado, turning his carefully controlled life upside down.
And HOLY SMOKES…once these two hornballs surrender to their red-hot lust, they sure find some creative ways to get it on when the kids are not underfoot! But yikes…then the sh*t really hits the fan when they break their cardinal rule and actually start to “catch feelings” for one another!
Ultimately, the journey this dynamic duo embarks on is wickedly sexy and oodles of fun, deeply moving and beautifully uplifting. And yes there are definitely some hurdles to overcome, but together they become the best versions of themselves! Gina not only teaches Jeffrey how to loosen up, but shows him how to live—and LOVE—again, and the way she bonds so sweetly with his precious girls turned me into a BLUBBERY mess! Whereas, Jeffrey makes his Pix feel beautiful and cherished and proves once and for all that she is SO NOT damaged goods!!
As for the young'uns —Vangie, Willow, Lake, Landon and Kyle are the TRUE STARS of this show imo. (#TeamSavage all the way!) The endearingly innocent and saucy things that come out of their mouths are just a friggin RIOT. And hmmm…do I see some future romantic hookups in the works? Stay tuned!
(But in the meantime, I will dive straight away into the companion novel BOOMERANGERS, featuring Gina’s bff Spencer who reconnects with her high school sweetheart Cooper. While technically BOOMERANGERS comes first, both books totally stand alone and can be read in any order.)
FINAL VERDICT:
I truly cannot gush enough about DOPPELBANGER! The narrative flows beautifully, the story is fast-paced with lots of spicy romance and heartwarming family time, and has just the right amount of outrageous humor, emotion-packed drama and swoony feels to keep me breathlessly flipping the pages! And that HEA? Utterly breathtaking —MAJOR WATERWORKS, folks--with a bonus extended epilogue from Savage’s POV that had me squealing in delight! Fingers crossed he gets a story of his own someday!
Bottom line? Heather M. Orgeron is definitely an author to watch and is now officially on my auto buy list!! Cannot wait to see what this amazingly versatile author has in store for us next! -

*2018 50 States Reading Challenge-Louisiana*
So I totally meant to update this sooner but time got away from me...
So my official review after having plenty of time to think about it...
I'm going to be giving this 3 stars.
I thought this was a really good book. It was well written, funny, witty, and more!
I wasn't able to fully connect with the characters and I didn't feel a full connection between the characters themselves.
Let me be honest... like I said, I thought it was a good book. It actually reminded me a lot of Tara Sivec's chocolate series and her Holiday series. They're all hilarious but there isn't much more to them. I wouldn't pick this book up if I were in the mood for a romance... because there wasn't much of that. I felt that the funny scenes overshadowed the actual story which is a shame because I think it could've been a great one!
I have to bring up the title...
In the book, it is mentioned and discussed that she likes to be with men who are younger and typically have the same appearance. But then it's not really mentioned anymore. The fact that she likes to be with younger men is but not the fact that she prefers the same "type" which is the whole basis of the title, right?
It's a great title. Very clever and witty. (Props to Lo, I believe.)
As much as the younger men issue popped up, it could've been mentioned that she likes the same appearance.... Maybe it's just me. Probably is. Just ignore me now.
I feel like I'm bashing this book and I'm not. I honestly think it was a good book but I don't think it was for me... at this time. I'm a mood reader and I received the ARC at a time where I wasn't really looking for something overly humorous. I wanted something sweet... definitely wanted to cry.... basically, I needed to be emotionally slaughtered.
I'm definitely going to be giving this book another try at a time when I am ready for it.
I also have Boomerangers waiting for me on my kindle. And I'm really looking forward to reading it and building more of a connection with these characters.
*I'll leave saying this-I think a lot of people will enjoy this book!* -
This book is really disgusting, not for the sex but for all of the scenarios surrounding it. The FMC is a sexual Cool Girl who talks like a more vulgar version of Samantha Jones from SATC and enjoys shocking the MMC by doing “outrageous” things like bringing him to a strip club and requesting a lap dance for him. (Honey, we all know a pickme we see one.) The MMC’s enormous endowment is a third character in the book, one with superpowers that encourage the FMC to lose any last vestige of her self-esteem.
The MMC is a pig, pure simple.
I didn’t entirely finish this book, but I definitely read enough of it that I knew that it was irredeemable. Stay away from this for so many reasons, but primarily because it is depressing and depicts female sexual confidence through the prism of the male gaze. It’s also unnecessarily vulgar, with bodily functions and fluids being used as the foundation for “humorous” moments.
If you enjoy books where children say gross candid things about adults’ sex lives, and parents comment on their adult children’s need to get laid, you’ll enjoy it. I did not and I have to say that it made me feel less joy for having read it -
This was definitely not my kind of book. This one was recommended to me as hilarious and sweet, it was also mentioned in a book that I loved and I liked Gina in Boomerangers. However, I should know by now not to trust the hype. This book has my most dreaded trope, the dead wife trope, the absolute second best type of story. And this was definitely a second best story, except the hero was a hypocrite and a jerk that had no issues with using the heroine to sleep with her but reminded her and us at every step that she was not his dead saint wife. Then once she walks away, her friends basically force her into proximity with the guy, who was a total jerk. So no, he did not grovel enough. It was icky and uncomfortable and it made it really difficult to get the love between them. The heroine was 100 percent second best. That was my main issue, I definitely had others, hence the rating. Just like Boomerangers, the humor was too forced. I’ve read some angsty books by this author and loved them so I hope she writes more of those.
-
Oh my goodness, Heather Orgeron!!! What did you do to me???
I laughed, I cried, I laughed again, I cried again... I absolutely fell in LOVE with Gina "Tink" and Jeffrey "CEO" and I couldn't stop rooting for them to be together! Jeff is a total alpha HUNK getting over the loss of his wife, and Gina is a sexy, sassy crazy person I want to hang out with all the time, who has convinced herself she doesn't need a HEA b/c she can't have children... Speaking of children, Jeff's two daughters are absolutely the icing on the cake. I loved them! and I loved their relationship with Gina...
It's just a superfun, super HOT book! The sexytimes were purrrrfect!!!!!
It's the perfect, feel-good, hug your kindle, beach read--or any time read, really. Definitely a MUST-READ for rom-com fans (or lovers of great romances!).
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!! -
DNF@25%
Oh dear, I am just striking out this year so far! Quick! Someone recommend me a "knock-it-out-of-the-park" winner!
I hated the heroine. She was a 35 year old sex therapist who acted like she was 21.
I can handle most crude humour, but the physical gross stuff I just couldn't take anymore.
Sorry. But I'm done. Not for me. Life's too short and all that.
Moving on... -
2.5 😐
Doppelbanger by Heather M Orgeron
5 stars!!!
“You know...even the biggest, thickest, veiniest cock isn’t worth putting up with the dick attached to it after a while.”
I haven’t laughed this hard in a long, long time. There was so much I loved about this book and this woman certainly knows how to create one heck of a rom com. I mean, we are talking spit your tea out laughing, snorting, tears of laughter and those big guttural belly laughs that are so hard to contain. But, also, this book had everything a romance should have, it had heart, it had emotion and it had a great message. I adored everything about this book and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
“I hear her muttering about what a bad influence I am, and how these children would likely be better off raised by wolves than the lot of us. But I don’t think we’re doing so bad. They’re the coolest little assholes I know.”
Gina aka Tink is a single, 35-year-old sex therapist who has no intentions of ever settling down. Her “itches” are scratched by the virile, a lot younger members of the male human race for which there are no worries of any ties. Gina has no filter, says what she thinks and does what she wants and I loved her for it. She has her reasons, she has a lot of baggage but this woman has one huge, huge heart and all the way through this book I was championing her to get what she really wanted, what she never wanted to admit she wanted, because at the end of the day, the truth hurt too much.
Jeff aka CEO is a 39-year-old, widower and single dad, to two amazing girls. After losing his wife, he is on a single mission to be the best dad and mum he can be. His life revolves around the two lives he created and as much as he tries, girls sometimes just need a mum, and that is the one thing he cannot give them. Jeff has a lot of baggage too, his heart is still with his wife, he cannot ever see himself moving on, he’s stuck in the past, one that frequents his brain far too often to even contemplate forgetting about it. It is a catch-22 situation.
These two meet on a cruise, Gina with her god-sons and Jeff with his two girls. The kids make friends first, pulling Gina and Jeff into each other’s orbit, after that the hormones are out and neither one can do a damn thing about it. I loved the chemistry between these two, despite Jeff’s adamant proclamations he cannot stand her. His head may say that, but his other one cannot seem to help himself. The more and more time that these two spend in each other’s company, the more you can see “feelings” are getting involved, something neither of them want to admit.
“She’s not in love…The girl done went and got dickstruck.”
I adored everything about this book, the banter was spot on, the dialogue was fantastic, the scenarios these two find themselves in were both hilarious and endearing. The fighting of feelings felt genuine and honest and the development of their relationship was neither rushed nor forced. It felt organic and real. I have to mention the kids, the kids made this book too, I adored every single one of them. This was one of the best rom com’s I have had the pleasure to read and will be one I re-read again when I need a good laugh. I highly recommend this one!!
“‘Remember when I told you I losed my marbles? I musta swallowed two of ’em, cuz I found ’em. They’re in my nuts!’”

Hilarious- I mean laugh out loud funny! This author does funny really well. But she can also weave in heartfelt real emotional stuff too. It's the best of both worlds here and Heather Orgeron absolutely hits it out of the park. I laughed and I cried. I loved this book. I hope there is more to come from this fun cast of characters!! Maybe a Kyle and Willow book???

4.5* laughing stars!
My first and not last Heather Orgeron book.
