The only problem is I’ve ruined every women I ever touched and relationships just aren’t worth the risk.
When I came back from Afghanistan to find my best friend’s little sister caring for my 3-year-old twins my world came crumbling down.
I didn’t even know my ex was pregnant and now I’m forced to be a father.
Gem saved them from foster care… from turning out like me. She’s what my boys need… not me or my screwed up ex.
The military was supposed to make me a man … One I could be proud of but it just made me a more legitimate killer.
The Hitman’s Secret Twins is a stand-alone bwwm romance. Not appropriate for readers under 18.

This is a story all about how Gem's life for flip turned upside down.... Okay she is no Fresh Prince, but Gem is an angel. Her brother had a best friend named Omar who went of to the military and unknowingly left behind his progeny. Omar's ex Erin found herself without a man, without a home and pregnant with twins. She couldn't handle the pressure, so at age 23 Gem stepped in.
Living a simple life as a teacher, Gem was raising twin boys in a modest house with a little help from her brother. When Omar returns home from a special assignment, he is blindsided with the news that he is a father of the four year old little cherubs in the backseat of the car his best friend arrived home in.
After coming to terms with knowing he was a father, he realizes he is no good for them. You see he is an assassin for the government and his world is too dangerous to have loved ones.
That all changes when he meets Gem. He falls for her hard and she for him. However when her brother finds out, he puts a stop to it immediately. Afraid for the safety of her boys, Gem stops seeing Omar, but it is too late to turn off the feelings in her heart.
When danger darks her door, Omar is her knight in shining armor, saving his family from harm. Things escalate quickly and Omar must find the additional threats to his family and eliminate them.
After all that drama, these two deserve a HEA and the author does not disappoint. This was a good read. It kept me engaged and I couldn't wait to see how it would end.
4.5 stars! - I received this book from the author as a part of her ARC Team in exchange for an honest review. -
This is a really good book by Niya James,,,,,,
This is about Gem Lovell, a 23 year old Kindergarten teacher at Wallace Park Elementary School,,,, there is this 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Laughlin who is always asking her out,,,,, she has been working there for 4 months now,,,, she is a foster mom to twin boys, Collin and Wayne Donovan, her brother, Sean works for the police department,,,,her best friend is Makayla who is in advertising and has a boyfriend Adrien Aiden ,,, the mother of the twins is her friend, Erin ,,,,,
Omar Donovan is Erin's baby daddy,,,, he is a deep cover assasign, his best friend is Sean ,,,,,,, his handler is Chase, his ex handler is Malcolm, who was found tortured, dead and in the water,,,, Omar was a Green Beret and he does not know about the twins, until one day he sees Gem with them,,,,,
This is a really good book,,, it has some drama, some action, and some steam in it,,,, just the right amount for all,,,,there are many, many things that I haven't told you,,,, and many left to discover,,,, if you want to read a good book, i suggest this one,,,,, I would totally recommend this book to anyone,,,,,
I got this ARC voluntarily to write an honest review -
Wonderful short story.
This is an excellent short story. It is fast paced with an engaging story. The sex is not overt or excessive. The characters are where Niya excels as usual. Gem is a sweet strong lady. You really can’t help but to adore her. Her best friend Makayla is quirky, funny and caring. Omar is the sexy hero. He is dark, dangerous but not evil. His alpha status isn’t over the top.
The story is wonderful. You get a few twist and turns and a happy ever after. Really loved it. -
This was a quick read. I liked that there was a lot of action and the storyline veered away from the norm in this genre. Where there were snafus? The pace of the romance. Kind of an instalove situation. The book started well enough and the action parts seemed balanced. But the romance moved kind of fast, and the intimate scenes seemed unnecessarily vulgar. Another minor issue was the copyediting. Like the best friend's boyfriend's name kept changing between Adrian and Aiden. I still don't know what his actual name is. Not a deal breaker though. I overall enjoyed the read.
My rating: 3.4 -
Although I found the basis for the story a bit difficult to accept, this is well written and the characters are engaging. I liked this book much more than my first one by Ms. James. Gem and Omar make a good pair even if her brother doesn’t think so. The twist is a little predictable, but that doesn’t detract from the enjoyment.
I look forward to more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. -
Gem has had a crush on Omar forever so when he went into the military and his girlfriend had his babies and couldn't take care of them, she stepped up and took them into her care. Now Omar is home and back into the lives of children he knew nothing about and he also has an attraction to Gem but with everything that's going on with Omar and his secrets, can he keep gem and his children safe? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

This is an interesting story involving a government special agent and his friend's sister. It is an in-depth story that explores the characters and involves some steamy scenes, romance, drama, action and suspense. I loved this one and had trouble putting it down.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. And I loved it! -
Not what I expected
Characters were under developed, the plot was under developed, unorganized, and at times confusing because the characters names were being changed interchangeably. First book I’ve read entirely and wouldn’t recommend. Generally I find a series and then speed read through them all, won’t be happening in this instance. -
Poor editing
So, the storyline was ok, just needed more character building. This book could have been so much better if it was proofread and edited. For example, one character named, Adrian, but at times his name was referred to as Aiden, then there was the mix up of Malcolm and Kyle. Just really bad editing, if any was done at all. I'm just glad this was free on my Kindle. -
arc review For honest review. Omar was in the Military and a hit man .when he gets out he finds out he has twin sons Collin and wyatt that gem is adopted them . this was a awesome story 10stars action, love, family.

3 1\2 Stars
There were quite a few unanswered questions in this book. Like what happened in the end when all the dust settled? Did the 2 best friends book up. But besides the questions, this was not a bad book -
To be read while in between books
A collection of short stories. Some were ok, some just frustrated me to no end and could have been skipped. My Fave were, Daddy Danger, which I have read before in another book and Daddy's Fake Girlfriend. Even though all of them ended awkwardly. -
Heartwarming
I'm glad that Omar was able to be with his kids. I think Erin should have told the boys about Omar in front of him and Gem, since she wasn't being a real parent anyway. So glad that everyone was happy in the end. -
Wow
I knew Omar was going to be good with the boys. It was his own handler that killed Malcom and tried to take him out. Omar came out on top with the win, his kids safe and the woman of his dreams -
Loved it!!
Loved Gem and Omar. They were so cute together. I’m happy they got their happily ever. Great book as always. -
Good read!
