The sense of movement in Mary Jean Chan’s deft and assured debut pamphlet is both external and internal, as she strives to forge new relationships with her parents and country of origin, while learning to live out the beliefs and desires of her own emerging self. These poems couple rawness of emotion with crystalline language, and are a significant addition to the worlds of both poetry and queer writing in the UK.
A Hurry of English Reviews

I bought this after I read at a British Library event with Mary Jean Chan to celebrate the 40th birthday of LGBT+ bookshop Gay's the Word. Chan's reading was incredible and I couldn't wait to read more of her work. Apparently she has a full collection out this year, which I eagerly await.

Breathtaking.

Most of these poems (as brilliant as they are) are in the recently published “Flèche”.
