LAUREL
Cocky and breathtakingly handsome was how I described Jason before I found him partaking in a threesome on my living room floor. At that moment, he became a player in my eyes. Albeit an intelligent and charming womanizer, he was the type of guy commitment-seeking girls should stay away from. I shouldn’t have taken an interest in Jason, yet the more attention he tried to give me, the more I found myself wanting it.

JASON
Laurel was the last girl I needed catching me in a threesome. After years of admiring her from afar, I was finally ready to make her mine, but Laurel’s hot roommates became a mishap I wasn’t expecting. I never failed at getting what I wanted, and that one complication wasn’t going to stop me from proving to my sexy librarian that I was worthy of her time … maybe even her love.

This story is a standalone, but if you’d like to learn a little backstory on some of the characters, read Summer Trouble first, a previous Ruby Romp Novella.

This is book 2 in the Ruby Romp series and this is Jason's story. Jason is a player who gets what he wants from any girl but the one girl he wants - Laurel. He decides to finally come clean about his feeling to Laurel but something occurred that made Laurel look at Jason and definitely not in a good way. Jason has to prove he is the man for Laurel and that she is it for him. Things aren't good for Laurel- she is going thru family trouble and she needs all the support she can get. Is Jason ready to go all in to prove his love ? Will Laurel even let him after knowing Jason's past ? This is one rollercoaster ride of emotions that have you rooting for Laurel then finally rooting for Jason after reading all he was going thru and feeling. Laurel wasn't going to make it easy. I dont want to give much away with this novella. Ruby Rowe did a great job with this novella with both main characters and I look to read more in this series.

    My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

What a sweet story. Yes there is plenty of heat in between the pages, but its the story of two young people who have secrets of pasts that have cultivated them into the people they are today that will capture you. Not only that, but it's the cat and mouse game between Jason and Laurel that is fun to watch. But their pasts keep pushing into the forefront of their minds, making them second guess themselves, more so Laurel.

The characters are wonderfully written with Jason being the handsome, sweet, pre-med "playboy" who has been watching and waiting for his chance to make the beautiful, smart and sassy Laurel his. He has even made it so that they share several classes during their college years and when his huge mistake also allows an opening for him to become closer to her, he jumps at the chance. He just needs to show her that his player days are over and that she is the only woman he wants. This new arrangement gives him a chance at 24/7 "operation Laurel" and he takes advantage of it. Only problem is, he starts moving too fast and Laurel is skittish. She has trust issues because of her past and is finding it not only hard to trust Jason, but to ignore the attraction and want she feels towards him. As will all of the stories where secrets are kept, they do come out, but in this story, the leads reveal them to each other. Laurel just knows that when she tells her's that Jason will bolt. Jason has two, one from his past and one that is more current and when it slips out, Laurel is crushed and bolts. Now, this isn't some big deal breaker kind of secret, but to her he should have told her as soon as he realized it.

I enjoyed reading their story and to see Summer and Colton again, but I was a bit displeased with the way the book ended. Yes it ended on a positive note, but I would have wanted a bit more....just a tiny bit more. I would have wanted to see how Jason's parents took Laurel's secret and how their reaction would effect her...which I am sure would be a positive effect. I would have hoped for Laurel to have Jason go to the cemetery to ease his guilt. But, it just stopped....no, no cliffie, it just ended on a sweet note.

Wonderful little story that I would have loved to have more of, but it was a great read and I highly recommend it.

    Meh...

I finished it, largely due to the fact that I'm a fast reader. First novella was fun; this one tried for angst and only suffered in choppy plot movement. And way too many grammar mistakes..it got distracting.

This is book 2 in the series. You do not have to read them in order. However these characters are in the book 1 of this series.
Jason is messed up from his last girlfriend. So he does not want anything majorly serious. He has come a long way since his last girlfriend. He has also liked 1 girl in particular since he first saw her. The sexy librarian. Laurel does not want a commitment especially from sleazy boy Jason. She caught him having a threesome on the floor of her living room. Her roommates move out Jason ends up moving in and the rest you can probably figure out.
This story is predictable but I really enjoyed it. Its a sweet story. I loved both characters. There was a lot of heat in this story. Its emotional, touching, heart rending, passionate. Its just an overall good story. I recommend this story. Its a super easy read to get through.

What a great read! I was so happy to see that Jason got his own story. We first meet Jason in Summer Trouble. He is the older brother of Summer and Colton's best friend. Jason has been hiding his feelings for Laurel for over three years. No one knows the reason behind why he behaves the way he does. He finally realizes he is ready to let Laurel in and hopes he is worthy enough. Laurel at the beginning wants nothing to do with him and has trouble trusting him. she has things she is dealing with that somehow she feels once someone finds out they will not want her. This is a moving book about trust and friendship and learning to let love in. This is a very well written book with a wonderful HEA!

Once again Mrs.Rowe knocks one way out of the park. The story of Laurel and Jason is so moving. Her fears and insecurities, stemming from a past she can no longer hid from. His playboy actions made her even more hesitate, but he’s so irresistible. His fears of not being good enough for her, but his love for her pushes him to take the perfect opportunity to get closer.
I will read this book again and again. The emotions that these characters can pull out of you are amazing. I hated him, felt sorry and cried for her. Loved him and was rooting for him.
I recommend this 5 star read to everyone. Even if you are not a “reader” you should seriously pick it up. You will not regret it!!!

When a sexy & familiar, yet unexpected face keeps popping up, what is a girl to do?

For three years, Laurel has seen Jason do his worst where women are concerned from a distance. Now, he's everywhere! And he seems to have changed! Is it too good to be true, or can they both rely on love to erase all doubts?

While this book had lots of steamy moments, it was sweet, too, and I really loved it. Full of tender, moving moments, it also had its humorous moments.

I recommend this naughty/nice novella! I really am looking forward to the next installment in the series.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

I have never been disappointed with any book Ruby Rose has written. Jason has love and miss and this has made him give up on love. He takes what He wants a d them in to the next, that's in till he sees Laurel on campus but is he good enough to make her his. Laurel has closed herself off after her family dirty secret comes to light. What is it about Jason that draws her in even though she knows she shouldn't give him her time. These two for so perfect for each other but Can they both let go the hurt and guilt to see the future they have together. I totally recommend this story.

What a hot but sweet love story! We met Jason in the previous book in this series - Summer Trouble - and him in this book, well, it's the last thing we expected out of this lothario. And Ruby starts us off with a bang - they hate each other and she finds him in a very compromising position, causing her to hate him even more, all within the first chapters of the book.

It's a quick read but so worth the short time you'll spend reading it.

    Overall rating: 4

Jason and Laurel are college seniors and both play their maturity levels well. The book illustrates a persons move from playing the field to wanting a commitment. The erotica is steamy so this is a definite adult readers only. I love the banter via email while these characters reviewed each other’s poetry. The storyline flows smoothly so this again is a wonderful quick heat read! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

    Sizzling HOT

Ruby Rowe does it again! I'm loving these novellas from her. Summer Trouble does not need to be read first but will help give background to the characters in Peer Review.
I love when an erotica can make me not only squirm from the heat ;) but laugh and cry too!
Jason and Laurel's story does just that! I don't like spoilers so I'll just leave you with READ this!

Yum Yum Yum. I love the hot, gorgeous factor Ruby Rowe delivers with all her books. She delivers page turners again and again. This was short, extra sweet and all the way delicious in story, characters and amazing writing.
    I simply love her work.
If you haven't read her yet you definitely should!

Well I was not sure about this book. See I really did not think Jason could redeem himself. Boy did he.By the 5th page, I was like yep, don't like him.I was so wrong. Now I really could not get to liking Laurel, BUT saying that I have a hard time liking most female leads. A overall fun cute read.

    Sweet

Nothing quite like the turbulent path to young love. Jason is learning how to grown up and be the man he wants to be for Laurel. Laurel is trying to find her path after a crushing family trauma. Together they mage a sweet couple ready to grow up and old together.

  • Morgan

Laurel & Jason's relationship was red hot!

I couldn't put this book down! After reading SUMMER TROUBLE, I was so curious to read more about Jason. This book didn't disappoint!

I can't wait for the next book in the series!!!

    FOUR STARS
    🌟🌟🌟🌟

I love Ruby Row and her novel Peer Review was cute, lighthearted and had a great plot line!

  • Skyler

Sexy, fast, and fun read. I think Ruby Rowe nailed this little novella.

Fun and Sexy with Some Feels

Terrific novella about Jason from Summer Trouble. He's fallen for cute library assistant Lauren but isn't sure he's good enough for her.

  • Rachael

In Peer Review we get a look at the life of Jason. He is a character we met in Ruby Rowe’s previous title, Summer Trouble and I admit I was very curious how he could redeem himself knowing his personality and arrogance. Jason was a character I admit I was curious about after ST, but still wasn’t sure how Ruby could turn him into such a loveable character. Let me just tell you, in Peer Review, she did just that!

Jason starts out his usual self, arrogant and a playboy, pretty much the typical college guy you really don’t want to have anything to do with. He is a smooth talker and get women into bed only to send them packing immediately after. He doesn’t do commitment and falling for a girl is the last thing on his mind.

Laurel works in the library at the university and lives her life by the books. Guarding herself from any men that might come into her life, she has her own reasons for keeping her distance from men.

When Jason approaches her in the Library late one evening, she is instantly attracted to this man who genuinely seems to see her. They share a conversation, and then the next day Laurel is reminded why she has sworn off men to begin with. When she walks in on her roommates and Jason tangled in a mess on the floor, she instantly regrets even having a moment of curiosity for him.

The chemistry between these two is actually very fun to read and seeing how she changes as he does, made this a very great quick and fun romp novella! I loved seeing their story and Ruby never ceases to amaze me. She has developed these two characters with such depth and emotion, that the twists within this short story will leave you breathless. Throw in a twist and angst, and this book will have you glued to its pages until the end. Bravo Ruby for another tale given to us in such an amazing manner.

Yes! We get to read Jason's and Laurel's story next with Peer Review. Laurel was a pleasant surprise since Jason has been quiet about her until now. The slow burn of their relationship starts long before this Novella. Now Jason is on a mission and that is to win his girl's heart. The drama intensifies with Peer Review. I only wish that we found out Jason's hidden past secret from him. I think the emotional connection would have been received better that way. But Laurel makes up for it. You still get the unknown from her and you will understand her better.

Jason instantly becomes my favorite hero with this series. I still have a soft spot for Colton, but what a 180 Jason has become. Peer Review is a steam short romance that had me swaying with all the wooing that comes your way.
