A grieving woman ...
Devastated by loss and divorce, Everly needs a fresh start. When she answers an ad for a nanny, she finds herself living with an impossibly hot man called Kian and caring for his sweet baby girl, Ember.
A dragon prince ...
Kian knows, the instant he meets Everly, that she’s his mate. He also knows that no matter how much he longs to tell her the truth, he can’t reveal his secrets to this unsuspecting human. Instead of confessing that he’s an alien refugee from another planet, he tries to give her everything she could possibly want.
An ancient enemy
A shocking discovery leads to Everly and Ember being kidnapped by vampires. Can Kian find them in time? And even if he does, will Everly accept the truth of who he is?
Everly and Kian’s story begins another exciting, steamy series from Scarlett Grove!
Kian (Dragon Guardians: House of Flames, #1) Reviews

Here's the thing. I see books like these all over KU. I look at the ratings, I read through some of the reviews. They sound ok so I give them a try, only to find out that the people who rave about them, must be high.
A female character that spends her time thinking "oh, he could never want someone like me", because she's a plain Jane, or so she thinks. Over and over again. To the point where you just want to slap her because it's annoying. Less than one day, and she's totally in love, she's ok with moving into a house out in the country with 4 grown men who are complete strangers to her. Sure, that seems totally ok. One of those guys totally talks her into bringing out her true self by the way (I'm rolling my eyes real hard here). They take her shopping, spend a ridiculous amount of money, and then - they declare their undying love.
Oh did I mention the vampires whose names are Marcus & Victor ? (does that sound like Underworld to you ?) And the whole shopping trip is so incredibly Pretty Woman, clearly this author needed the help. It's a dumb book. I found nothing interesting in the plot, the characters, the dialogue is enough to make you gag. And let's not forget the super random best friend, who gets a new car .... for some reason .... somewhere in the middle of the book .... after she only had like 3 lines at the start.
Once again, I say if you want a really great, KU shifter/dragon read, go for Piper Scott (M/M). I will absolutely not be reading anything else from this author. -

Burning Love.....
I love Ms. Grove's series and this new one is no exception. These dragons lived million of years ago on another planet and being practically wiped out by the enemy and a dying sun in the horizon had them put a plan into motion to guarantee the survival of their race. With such an advanced technology they made sure each house had an heir and went into deep stasis to awaken when the time and environment was right.
Kian leader of the House of Fire his baby daughter, the Princess Ember and his men Cato, Dax and Aiden have awakened after a million year stasis on the planet earth and they each yearn for something that has been dormant along with their bodies, the desire for a mate. Will they be able to mate, or will their long stasis be the annihilation of their kind.
Everly is devastated by her divorce which has left her with nothing, not even a job. She replies to an ad for a nanny and is thrust into a world she never imagined existed, a world that can literally burn her soul, especially her very intoxicating boss. Is she ready to be burned again? -
Good start to series.
Love those dragons. -
3.5 stars. Whilst I enjoyed this read I didn’t love it.
Enjoyable enough read but felt just a bit lightweight and simplistic to me.
The world building was okay, didn’t really get why they had been asleep a million years, seems overkill for the time frame, especially as they seemed to be able to do all sorts of things like drive cars and buy a mansion.
Kian and his brothers are interesting and it will be fun to read their stories.
Liked Everly and thought she had been treated badly by the ex-husband. She seemed to bounce back very quickly considering she had just been through a painful divorce.
I didn’t feel a real connection between her and Kian, no real getting to know the other, just he’s hot and she’s my mate scenario. I like a bit more romance between my couples.
The situation with the vampires seems to be a problem that will have to be dealt with but I am not sure how.
Not really sure why Kian had a child with someone who was not his mate. What was the Dragoness Prime? I understood what she did but not WHAT she was. Surely he should have waited for his mate. Confusing.
This is my honest review of this book. -
I honestly thought I would love this. I mean, dragons from outer space? Heck yes! Even the vampires from outer space bit, as odd as the notion is to me, promised to be interesting. And the story delivered this... sort of. (On the dragon part at least. The vampires in this story completely disappointed me.) There were probably some important details I missed because I ended up mostly skimming through the last half of the story - I wanted it to end that quickly. The writing style just did not click with me; the romance felt unbelievable and too much like insta-love for my tastes; and the dialogue didn't always sound natural.
If you like straightforward stories with dragons from outer space and quick romances, then this is probably the book for you. I wish I liked this, but I guess it just wasn't the story for me. -
Nope
Really lacking on details and plausible plot devices. Just woke up after a million years, immediately insinuates into Earth culture, converts their gold/jewels into human wealth, buys a mansion, immediately settle into careers- high end and very visible careers for aliens trying to stay hidden, immediately speaking modern slang, slipping up in speech in front of the human about their origins- but she never even blinks, hiring a childcare provider with your genitals vs researching qualifications, saying they're going to just let her drive off with kid without checking for license/driving history, immediately leaving her with child without any introduction/tour of home/showing of supplies and baby food, and that's when I gave up. The kid has a mom, maybe. Some anomalous Bethi that birthed her? Hatched her? Clutch is the term used but there were also other kids mentioned and none others are ever mentioned after that single sentence, so... Yet Bethi is still giving advice, but she can't take care of her kid? They're settled into a highly populated area vs something sparse like rural Montana. They're dragons, how do they fly when city buildings have sensors, cameras, alarms for aircraft/people because of modern terrorist/theft activities? Let alone the population density issue. Suspension of disbelief only goes so far. 30% in and we've learned only previous planet went boom- but no explanation why, dragons seeded a planet with souls- again no explanation, vampires are aliens, too, and enemies- why and how not a peep of explanation, these guys appear exactly like humans- even ancestors of humans don't look exactly like modern humans, they've immediately assimilated but with no gap fillers of explanation as to how- and in a record time in an era of avid press that records everything and loves mysteries and rich people but these guys of wealth and fame have no paparazzi? Not a lick of anything makes any sense and this, due to how he reacts to her presence and can only comment mentally on her appearance, seems to be heading to erotica and not romance at all, so I'm putting it down now before the ranting becomes all consuming. Six months is not long enough to grieve a miscarriage, lost marriage, and complete change of life and circumstances. The fact that she barely mentions in her inner monologues about that, is more concerned with burdening her friend, and never even mentioned the health complications of miscarriage, just was the rotten cherry on this weird mishmash sundae of WTH. -
While this was enjoyable and entertaining read. Kian brothers were interested too and I know their story will be a fun read. I can't help but feel a little disappointed. I wanted to know more about Kian world why were they asleep for a million years??? The time frame that they were asleep seem a bit much especially since they seemed to adapt to the new world so quickly. Can we talk about Everly!!! I mean I like her she was kinda of naïve but for someone who was broken up about being treated bad by her ex-husband and divorce. Her attitude towards love and men change quickly. I didn't feel like Everly and Kian really had a connection beside them lusting over each other it would've be nice if they had more chemistry. Also I would've like more information about the Dragoness Prime. I mean I understand what she did but I don't have any knowledge on what she was. Overall a good start for a new series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Prince Kian and Everly Collins. Kian and his fellow dragons have come to Earth from their home planet 1 million years ago. They did not realize they have slept so long but are looking to have a place to live and find their mates. Not only that but Prince Kian needs a mother for his daughter. Though he is on the lookout for his mate he doesn't tuly believe that he will find her but one look at Everly changes all that. Everly has lost so much and is weary to open her heart again. She wants love and a children but can she trust a man to be a part of her life again? Can they both get what they want or will outside forces drive their chances away?
This is an amazing book. It will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. There are ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. I however don't want to ruin the book for any other readers. I will say I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. -
Wow, i found this book so refreshing to read. I have to admit its been awhile since i read a dragon book, but this totally nailed it for me. What i also loved about this how all the dragons that woke quickly affirmed to the new planet and taken on different characters. This book had me smiling and at one point laughing out loud. These guys are characters, but im sure that when their mate comes to them its a whole different ball game.
Everely Collins is now divorced and childless, her ex husband left her for a slimmer figure women, and she is now staying with her best friend Stacy. Everely sees a add in the columns adversting for a Nanny, deciding that she will be good for the job she applies and meets Kian, upon looking at him she really likes this guy, hes a bit strange with him mannerism but thats ok. She gets the job and settles in quickly she absolutely adores the baby girl.
Kian thinks that Everely is his mate, but there seems to be a few problems going on the major one is that Vampires seem to have invaded this planet and are drinking all the dragon souls , -
This is Kian and Everly's ( and Ember's ! ) . Everly is in shock over everything that has happened in the last few months , losing her baby and then divorce . Knowing that her friend will help her as much as she can even though she is barely getting by too Everly decides she must find a job . She comes across an ad for a nanny position and decides why not try since she loves children . Kian is the leader and Prince of The House of Flames . He and his crew have just awoke from a long sleep and learns that so much time has passed but knows that they must do what is needed to survive . Knowing his daughter Ember will need to taken care of he decides to hire a nanny to live in since they have also learned that their enemy the vampires are on Earth too . Little does he know that he will be meeting his fated mate !! I loved to twists and turns and the plots along with the danger that is happening to humans and Dragon Souls . This is well written and strongly recommended !!

Who is reading this?
“You're coming with us, little Dragon Soul,” sneered a man in a black hoodie. “What do you want from me?” she screamed. “Your blood, of course,” he said.
That's a little taste of the writing style.
It sounds like a child's book.
At one point the vampire says "oh, they are FIRE dragons!"
WHAT OTHER KIND OF DRAGONS ARE THERE?
Then one dragon is using twin red laser swords, where did that... What? Where did those come from?
There's a whole Encino Man fish out of water bit, and absolutely ridiculous heroine from a Regency drugstore romance, a computer used to analyse everything, even if someone is their mate...
It annoys me so much when reviews are so obviously farmed to churn out these KU books. -
This is so far a good series can't to read the other three books!
Kian Prince of the House of Flames and other members of the House awakened 100 years from their stasis to their mating impulse growing plus finding and protecting the Drgon Souls. Kian's plan hire someone to be a nanny to baby Ember in turn case him to meet his fated mate who in turn is a Dragon Soul as well. So one down and three more of the House of Flames guardians to find their fated mates and to protect the humans and Dragon Souls from the dragon's enemy the vampires, whose chosen food to increase their strengths and power are the Dragon Souls. -
I really enjoyed the beginning of this new series. A definite for any paranormal romance reader. Lots of romance and some handsome alien dragon shifters. I love that even though the romance/connection is fast the two really do try to know each other first instead of letting lust take over. And baby Ember is just the cutest addition. The connection of the history of the dragons and the evil vampires is interesting and I expect that we will see more of that history in the coming books. A fast and a heartwarming romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book. -
Exciting new series!
Loved this story, it was sexy, thrilling, and hard to put down! Everly never could of dreamed of having someone like Kian fall for her, but can she accept his true origin, that of an alien dragon shapeshifter who has travelled for a million years to Earth? And what about the vampires? Will they prevent Everly from finding a lasting love with Kian and his adorable daughter Ember? -
Great Read!
Lighthearted fun read with a touch of sci fi meets shifter.
This looks to be an interesting new series, The Dragons have woken after a long slumber and it looks like they will be causing a stir on the planet they've chosen to live on.
Everly turns up for an interview to be a live in nanny, the job brings alot more challenges than she expected.
I voluntarily read & reviewed this Advance Reader Copy. -

OMG!
Scarlett Grobe has a new series.
Everly answered an add for a nanny position.
Kian Just wanted someone to take care of his daughter.
He could not imagine that his mate would answer the add.
Now, how can a dragon shifter woos his human mate ?
The storytelling + the character's build were awesome!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! -
Wow what a great book
I read this book on kindle unlimited, but it would have been worth the regular price, can't wait for the next book in this series. This book has hot dragons, evil vampires, loyal friends and drama. This book has a shattered heroine,an adjusting hero an adorable little girl/dragon. Hot steamy sex scenes the chemistry between these two is off the charts. This author paints such complex scenes you feel as if you are there. definitely a must read
