"You become a true lady when you choose to be wise and kind!", Nate had written in the letter!

Leonie Trowbridge is a beautiful young debutante who’s enjoying the glittering social season in London. This world of sophisticated balls and parties couldn’t be more different from the Colorado ranch where she’s lived for the last three years, but when Leonie’s beloved brother and sister-in-law announce that they’ll soon be welcoming a baby, Leonie abandons the social whirl of London to return to America.

When she returns to the Circle T Ranch and the tiny town of Indian Rock, she finds that a year in Europe has affected her vision. She sees her old home through the eyes of the English aristocracy, and even her affections―such as the love she’d once cherished for ranch foreman Jem McClary―have changed. Now Jem is just another cowboy, and Leonie sets her sights on more sophisticated men.

But when a life-threatening fire and her uppity controlling aunt set them apart, he has to find some way to win her heart a second time.

And when Leonie falls for a rich Englishman, the plain-dealing Jem is faced with an impossible task: to turn himself into one of Leonie’s romance-novel heroes, before his sweet-talking rival wins her heart.

Will Leonie choose wisely? Will her rich suitor’s secret be exposed?

From the very first page until the last I couldn't get enough of this novel. It was exciting and passionate. You could feel all the emotions. The characters all felt real and you loved some and disliked others. I can't wait to read other books by this author she is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors to read.

I really enjoyed reading A Debutante for the Rancher by Chloe Carley. It is a sweet Christian romance, with some harsh reality tossed in. By that I mean we get a picture of 1800's Colorado where we get an image of what life was like back in those days. Ms. Carley did a fabulous job describing life back then.

This story has a wild fire, Puma attack, silver mining, learning to trust God in trying times, love, romance, and much more. I highly recommend this book. I received an advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review

My review today is on the Christian Western Romance Novel, A Debutante for the Rancher. It is a part of the Colorado Reborn Series but a stand alone book. This story is well written, heart warming, and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.

Leonie Trowbridge has been sent to England to learn to be a lady and become a debutante for her first season. Her Aunt is determined to marry her off to an Earl or a Duke. Leonie is just having a good time and finds many suitors. She receives a telegram from her brother's foreman telling her that her sister-in-law was gravely ill. She doesn't even think about it but packs up to go home. Her aunt goes with her even though she hates her nephew's wife believes this is a hoax.

Jem McClary has worked as a foreman since before this present owner. He loves the ranch and the family that he works for. When he finds out that pregnant Molly is gravely ill and she and the baby might not make it he feels he must send for Leonie. She would be heartbroken if they kept it from her. After their arrival he messes up. He takes her in his arms and kisses Leonie in front of her formidable aunt and the men of the ranch. Aunt Edwina insists Nate must fire the man. Nate has no choice but to fire Jem. Jem takes off for Denver and then to Leadville to make his fortune so he could be worthy of Leonie.

A tragic journey for all involved as a fire threatens the family and they must run for their lives. Nate stays at home to fight the fire, Molly is still weak and falls a part, Edwina's Dr. takes her baby away, and Jem knows nothing about it as he works as a guard in the mines of Leadville. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too; a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your life around.

This is the third book in a series by this author. Whilst I have to admit I didn’t enjoy this particular novel as much as the first two it was satisfying to find out how/where all the characters end up.

I think the biggest reason I am hesitant to give a higher rating for this story is solely due to not being able to fully relate to the lead character. This is predominantly Leonie’s story.
In the previous novel you get to meet Leonie & she is a precocious & hopelessly romantic child - in this story, not much has changed. Except now she is older & has a domineering Aunt who is doing her best to make her into a puppet. I guess in a way that is what the story is all about - Leonie is trying to grow up & fit into the “mould” that is expected of her. I suppose I wanted to see her display more backbone & spirit (which does come later in the novel) but the majority of the time she felt young & silly & too submissive. But like I said, this I later realised was due to her desire to please & fit in. Once I realised that this was the reason for the shift in what I was expecting her behaviour to be like, I was able to get into the story more rather than be irritated by her immaturity.

I’m glad I continued on with the story - it took turns that I didn’t expect & I was happy with the ending :) plus it was good to finally read Jem’s story & to find out how things turned out for Nate & Molly (from the previous novel).

This is a clean, feel good read. Whilst it may not be as adventurous as the previous stories in the sequel it has a feel good ending & leaves the way open for yet another sequel. I wonder if it will be about Will...?

I received my copy free in exchange for an honest review.

Chloe Carley is such a great storyteller. I have read just about everything she has written. I have actually read the books in the series prior to this one and after; but somehow I missed this one. Like the others this one was an adventure. One of my favorite quotes in the book is, “You become a true lady when you choose to be wise and kind. You are already kind Leonie. If you do what this book teaches you will be wise.” Then at the end of the book there is a quote that is even more meaningful. “I may never be wise, at least the way you wanted me to be, Nate.” “But I’ve noticed that when I do things out of love, it turns out just the same in the end as if I’d been very smart.” This book is principally about Leonie and Jem became husband and wife. How every there are many twists and turns throughout the book where the entire Trowbridge Family faces many challenges and dangers that they must overcome that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a clean read. Another thing I like about this book is how many of the characters rely on their faith to see them through the hard times.

I read the extended story that I really added to the story. Especially the letter that Leonie writes to her Aunt Edwinna in England. The best part of the letter is the comment she makes, “It’s not what a man says that is important but what he does.” I think that could apply to anyone, man or woman.

I really enjoyed A Debutante for the Rancher. It focused on Leonie Trowbridge, and her brother, Nate. Nate, who lives on ranch in Colorado, sent Leonie to London so she could have the opportunity to have her season. Their sophisticated aunt helped Leonie learn the skills she needs to secure a good marriage match. The problem is Leonie does not want to marry a man just for his position. She wants to marry for love. She meets Neal, who is rich and and would mean a life of luxury. She shares a dance and a kiss with him. But before their romance can get off the ground, she learns Nate's wife is ill. Leonie and her aunt return to Colorado to help support Nate and his wife through her illness.

When she gets to the ranch, she sees Jem, her first love. But Leonie is all grown up now and Jem notices. They share a kiss that secures Leonie's heart. But Jem wants to make enough money to be worthy of Leonie. When Jem realizes Neal has come to Colorado to pursue Leonie, Jem knows he must make his move now.

A Debutante for the Rancher was well written and characters that are enjoyable and real.

I will not restate the plot nor reveal any spoilers in this review.
Chloe Carley writes a very good story with plenty depth. The characters are well-defined and well-written, including minor ones. There is a Christian theme without being forceful, which I appreciate.
This book contains very real issues which were important in the period it was written. Lawlessness, blatant avarice and vices were described accurately in the Wild West time of Denver and Leadville. The author truly brings to life the flavor of the wild west. Descriptions of ranching and its dangers and difficulties also are brought to reality through the written pages.
This book contains romance, family drama and suspense. The plot is believable and the components are tied together nicely with no cliffhangers, although the additional chapters offered by the author is icing on the cake. KUDOS, Chloe Carley, for writing an accurate portrayal and highly entertaining story!

This book is a great read and even though it could stand alone, you must read about her brother Nate in the first book. Leonie does what her brother wishes her to do and that's to become a lady. The rules in England are too confining for Leonie, but she tries her best not to disappoint her Aunt Edwina and her brother Nate. When Leonie runs back to the ranch, when she hears that Molly is ill, she realizes that her family is the most important thing. Through tragedy and her aunt's manipulations, Leonie sees what matters to her and draws wisdom from a little book of Proverbs. Leonie makes mistakes because she is young and naive, but she learns from them and follows her heart after praying to God about her issues.

  • Joan Arning

Excitement is plentiful in this book as Nate fears for Molly's life and that of their unborn child. Nate fires Jem as foreman of the ranch because he kisses Leonie. Jem takes a job as a mine guard in Leadville. A fire spreads from the mountains to the ranch and nearby towns causing the women to flee for the safety of Denver while the men fight the fire. The characters in A Debutante for the Rancher are all well-written! I enjoyed this second book in the Colorado Reborn series. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

With scenes so real and emotions galore you'll fall in love with the characters as the tale unfolds. Chloe shows us why she's such an amazing author. Great read.

I loved this book. Leone goes from living in Colorado to London and then back to Colorado. Her training and adventures are interesting and fun to read. Should she marry for money and position as her aunt wishes or for love? This is a wonderful Christian novel. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I received an advance reader copy. The comments are my own.

This is a sweet and adventurous book. The two main characters, who are in love, are being hunted. The man who is hunting them believes that they stole money by cheating. They are separated while running. Both of them end up adopting a child. Although not in the normal way. The excitement builds when there is an animal attack, a kidnapping and gun shots happen.

    A Christian Historical Romance

This second book was just as good if not better than the first book. I highly recommend all her books to all who love Christian love stories. She writes some great characters and wonderful storylines. I love the way the people pray for what they need to help others and themselves. Diana Romano
