  This title of the “How Money Works” series discusses global economics. It shows upper elementary and middle school students how and why the world spends its money, including photographs of several international banking centers. Conversational text gives a brief history of money and bartering. It explains free and fair trade, global wealth and poverty, GDP and the G7. Short, simple paragraphs combined with graphs, maps, charts and related illustrations make learning about international finances more palatable and easy to understand. The format is engaging and even the most abstract principles of finance are explained simply. Back matter includes a bibliography, websites, glossary and index. The entire series is a must for any library or economics/social studies teacher.

  World Money gives a ton of great information, beginning with the history of money and continuing with how the world uses money in today's world. The book gives a decent breadth and depth, without being over kids' heads. In conjunction with the other books in the series, World Money will give students a thorough knowledge of money and economics in today's world.

  A detailed overview of world economy and money. This was more in depth than my children are ready for, but dipping into the sections on different countries as we study them will be very useful.
  
  The illustrations are light and interesting and, I know, have my 10-year-old laughing.
