  A fairly good survey of world history. Very often "stories" are out of context, but that is natural for a short text like this. For instance, the book starts with an outline of ancient civilizations without explaining the concept of a "civilization." The narrative usually takes the needed critical stance on events without going into extremes. I will have to point out that I do not agree with the authors' explanation of 9/11. They clearly need to "zoom out" and take a look on larger structures and systems of dependency, repression and exploitation. Same with Israel's history though to a lesser extent. Other than that, a good book and an easy to use reference tool.

  The book tries to capture history in a narrative sense. It is not made for people who want to learn about history, since the pages and the information are clustered together, from different civilizations, with no clear connection between them.
  
  I didn't find a clear consistency.
  The writer was not so successful in turning history into an enjoyable narrative. It was rather facts stated in a somewhat dull manner but nice design.

  If you’re a history/fan/nerd this is definitely the book for you. An enjoyable overview of notable moments in history.
  
  This book was a special gift from a teacher who changed my life and taught history in a way that has truly shaped my worldview and my humanity.
  
  I know this has ended up as a less of a review and more a letter of appreciation to the person who gave it to me; but, that being said, the book is great for any history buff and was a light and easy read.

  There were some interesting sections and I liked the format of this book, but much of it was dry and felt like reading a textbook.
