But Nate’s orderly world is turned upside down when his proposal letter to Emmaline is accidentally delivered to the wrong woman. When a redheaded adventuress arrives on his doorstep, demanding that he honour his offer of marriage, Nate is outraged at her nerve but also attracted to her beauty.
But when Molly Clanahan refuses to be bribed, and also refuses to leave his house, Nate finds himself on the horns of a dilemma. In his wealthy social circles, where reputation is everything, the presence of a voluptuous unmarried woman in his home is a recipe for disaster.
But the longer Molly stays, the more Nate begins to suspect that she isn’t the greedy gold digger that she seems. He begins to believe that she’s taken refuge in his home because she’s hiding from something.
Or someone.
When Molly suddenly disappears, Nate decides to solve the mystery of her real identity and plunges into a series of events that will threaten his reputation, challenge his courage, and bring him face to face with pure evil. Because the search will take him to the lowest and vilest places in the West, and force him to decide if the truth is really what he wants.
Or if he wants Molly herself.

A little bit out of my comfort zone
I didn't quite make a connection with the characters and though there was no graphic description I was uncomfortable with the characters behavior towards the end of the book. Perhaps it was an editing mistake but this statement made by the hero near the end of the book "that she refused to let him make love to her." Especially considering that the title indices a Christian read. The story wasn't bad but several parts just don't line up with my convictions. This is just my honest opinion and other maybe okay with the story. -
What a tale this novel was! It's a very different approach to what I expected a Christian romance novel to be like
We have maidens in tears but also quick minded, heroes that are short tempered but smart and young girls who see love as an adventure to be joyful about! And surprisingly I actually liked most of it!
So we meet Nate, a respectable gentleman who has moved to his late uncle's ranch, with his 16 year old sister Leonie, to take up the family business. Once there, he sees there is much work to do but he finds that he needs companionship and to start filling the house children. Which leads him to write a marriage proposal letter to one of the respectable lady he has encountered. But the letter is delivered at the wrong address and before he knows it, a young redhead woman has arrived at his doorstep, demanding him to make haste of his promise and marry her. Nate finds himself in more twists than he ever imagined
When we meet Molly, she is a woman with secrets. It's obvious she is running away from something, could she have been in trouble with the law? Or is she running away from someone?
So when a random marriage proposal is sent her way, she sees the opportunity of escape, and against her better judgement finds herself demanding to be married to a wealthy gentleman. But will she be able to lie and hide away in this new home, or will she be turned out like a common beggar?
These two obviously met with the wrong foot, there were harsh words and aggressions said between them, even tears and sobbing were exchanged. I'll admit it did annoy me, only because for Molly to have the guts to go up and demand him to marry her and then blackmails him, you'll think she will have more courage and strength to face him off. But I guess in reality some girls are tough but harsh words can still affect them. Nevertheless, I did still like Molly, even if her initial intentions were bad, she does try to set things right between her and Nate but as her past keep chasing her, she begins to wonder if she should really drag Nate into her problematic world.
But the more time Nate spends with her, the more he feels a connection happening, her courage and persistence intrigues him in a way that no woman has ever done. But is he determine to fight for her ?
This was a wonderful tale, full of drama, action and suspense. A very unlikely Christians novel but I loved it! I cannot wait to read more of this author. If her books are like this one, and then I'll read anything she writes!
Received a copy from the author herself in exchange for an honest review, thank you! -
I’d never heard of this author, but the premise hooked me — a tightly wound English gentleman moves to Colorado with his sister to settle into a family ranch he’s inherited, and he’s met with constant surprises that pull the rug out from under him, including a fiery Irish-American woman desperate enough for sanctuary that she’ll bribe him over a unintended proposal and refuse to leave his home.
I dove into this story expecting a rip-roaring western comedy, and though it wasn’t a comedy as a whole, it did have me laughing out loud quite a bit. Nate Trowbridge’s POV (the Englishman) was my favorite because his way of processing the story’s events was downright funny! The sister’s melodrama was a bit much, and if this story had been written as a screwball comedy, the melodramatics would have worked better. There were a few typos and a wealth of exclamation points and italicized words. Personally, I can deal with punctuation decoration and a bit of awkward dialogue and melodrama for the fun of following an interesting story and characters.
The ending was intense! I did predict a few plot points, but not all of them. Overall, a very entertaining read, and I may pick up another one of Carley’s books in the future. -
At the end of this book Chloe Carley says that she wants her story to be 'an emotional experience' for her readers. Well, she succeeds. It has a bit of a slow start, but turns into an emotional rollercoaster.
It is a romance, but some parts are more of a thriller. It really grabbed me and pulled me in. Deep. -
A sweet story!

This was another recommended book and I decided to give it a shot. This was just okay for me. I didn’t feel like there was very much romance. The story was pretty good but it seemed like the two characters barely spendt time together and when they did they were fighting. I just didn’t feel a romance vibe from either one. I also didn’t like the younger sister she was just annoying.

I will not give a description of this book, nor will I submit any spoilers.
This is the first book I have read by Chloe Carley. The writing was well executed but some of the expressions seemed out of sync for the time period. It was hard to believe that people in the 1800s untamed West would use the words "chapped"...as in angry, and "pimp"...as in, well, pimp. I just found it unbelievable that those idioms were actually used in that time period. There were a few other words/expressions that seemed out of place, which I found annoying.
The storyline was enjoyable and kept my interest throughout the book. The characters were interesting and you rooted for their HEA. This book was worth reading. -
This book had a great plot but was let down by stilted dialogue and the story didn't flow very well. There were several annoying aspects and the further I read the more they annoyed me: many words were italicised and had emphasis placed on them unnecessarily; eyes were continually rolled in one particular direction or another; I wanted to shake and/or slap the main characters very annoying sister; and the female character "pled" several times instead of pleaded. Also, at the end of one chapter the main character was referred to several times as 'Ned' instead of his name 'Nate'. Despite these grievances, I did enjoy the story and believe that Chloe Carley will find her writing groove and iron out these annoyances the more she writes.

This is the second book that I have read written by this author. I loved that one and I also enjoyed this one. This was a bit of a continuation from her first book, "Boston Bride Salvation." Nate Trowbridge Inherits his Uncle's ranch. We read about his Uncle in "Boston Bride Salvation." He was not a nice man to say the least. However both books are really stand-a-lone books; but several of the characters from "Boston Bride Salvation" are also encountered in this book.
The two main characters in the book are Nate Trowbridge and Molly Clanahan. However my favorite character in the book is Nate's sister Leonie Trowbridge. She is funny. She is also the one with the biggest heart in this book. She is definitely a person you would want in your corner especially when things are going well and what you need is a real friend.
One of the things I especially like is how Nate Trowbridge's prayers change overtime. And the one I most like is when he acknowledges the Lord's hand.
"Oh Lord, he prayed, I once asked you to lead me to the wife that you had chosen. At the time I was sure that Emmaline was that one. And when Molly came into my life, it seemed to me that everything had gone awry. But now I see your hand in all of this. It was you, wasn't it, who led Jem to the wrong house. It was you who brought Molly right to my door. It was you who made Leonie love Molly and believe in her so fiercely. It was you who kept Molly safe when I wasn't there to protect her; and it was you who gave me the strength to defend her life. Lord you have brought us this far, Molly and me. If Molly is your answer to my prayer, please make a way for us."
That is so powerful and so moving.
I also had my vocabulary enhanced. Two words that I have never heard before or used before. They are Frippery and Furbelows.
I look forward to reading more books from this author. I am so glad that I crossed paths with her through her books. -
This story is an emotional experience. I think I must have experienced just about every emotion with this story. The further along I got into reading it the more anxious I became to find out how it would all turn out. I loved the interactions between Nate & his sister Leonie - you can’t help loving her despite the fact (or perhaps because) she is such a hopeless romantic & is so young & naive & exasperating with it. She became so adorable to me I don’t think the story would have been half as good without her. Hopefully we get to here more about her in a future novel. Molly was such a brave & strong character - although at times she frustrated me just as much as she frustrated Nate by the end of the story I was cheering her on like the rest of them.
Although this is a romantic story, it does have a heavier & sinister element to it which, for me, felt quite intense at times. There were moments when I thought that it was becoming too dark for my liking, but I can imagine that, sadly, the “Wild West” was just as it was portrayed in this story.
Love conquers all in the end though & we have a happy, feel good ending.
Apart from some violence this is a clean read. I would like to thank the author for giving me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. -
Chloe Carley's "His Stubborn Sweet Bride" is a wonderfully written, clean Christian Historical romance. Nate and his sister Leone travel from England to Denver, Colorado to take over the home they inherited from their uncle. At first they think they made a big mistake because the place had been attacked by Cheyenne Indians. Part of the house was deplorable and they realize that it is going to take a lot to get the place to where it would be habitable. Nate not only has a home to work on for Leone and him, he also needs it to be perfect for his future bride. He has his eyes and heart set on one specific lady and can't wait to spend the rest of his life with her.
This story will keep you on the edge of your seat and not wanting to put it down. There are twists in this story, ones you don't see coming.
Chloe Carley did a great job on this first book. She knows how to captivate her readers attention with a beautifully written story that will leave you wanting more. I can't wait to read her next book. If you haven't bought it yet, go do it, you won't be sorry.
I received this ARC book in exchange for an honest review. Well done Chloe! -
This was an unexpected wonderful treat! For the first part of the story to the last, I was totally enthralled! I love this authors gift of words and way of writing. (First book read by her!). However, definitely not the last. Take a historical romance, put in western episodes, and old time Indian raids. Follow the train from England to Old West. Totally engrossed, in action, romance, adventure, passion, life. Every emotion tied to this story was great. From the heart wrenching sadness to the loss of loved ones, to the life of emerging renewal. Each and every page, had my full attention. The one thing I can promise, if you like historical romances, like old west stories, enjoy variations of many different elements in a great read, ?? You will love this book! I was given this book in return for an honest, unbiased review.

This is an interesting story of a Mail Order Bride. The mail got mixed up and the letter was delivered to the wrong address. The young lady needed a way out, she was poor with no parents, or relatives to help her out and she decided to deceive the young English Rancher and went to meet him.
Later she had second thoughts and admitted she had lied to the family. The romance continued with many twists and turns that kept me interested throughout. The characters were well defined and the book was well written. I enjoyed reading the story and I also read the extended chapters which made the book complete. -
His stubborn sweet bride, "when he thought he knew what was proper"
Great read, added the marriage chapter but cannot find, very interesting had to finish in three nights of reading. How can someone so cruel in mail order brides reminds me of sex trafficking. Thank goodness the little sister knew his real happiness. And he realized just a little too late as Molly gave and relinquished to him what she thought he wanted. He was very manly for courage to save his real love. -
First, I have to say that this is some very good writing. The whole premise of the story is just wrong. An Englishman raised man running a ranch in Colorado and a woman who is desperate to runaway from a man who conned her. The only thing I don't get in the book, was when Nate found time to start falling in love with Maggie. She conned and lied her way into his house, then left when the guilt got too much for her. All I felt from Nate the whole time is anger, we only found out he felt desire for her when she was standing on the steps all cleaned up, and that was at the end of the book. My only wish is the author spent a little more time on the cold fish, Nate. It would have helped the flow of the story better.

Appearances can be deceptive as Englishman Nate discovers after he inherits a ranch in Colorado! The main characters of Nate, his sister Leonie and red haired Molly are well-written. Nate and Leonie have to adapt from their proper English background to turn of the century American west. I recommend His Stubborn Sweet Bride to anyone to enjoys historical fiction. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

Great read!
I really enjoyed this book by Chloe Carley. As historical romances go, it was a bit different from the usual, and I liked that. It contained several surprising twists that kept me intrigued until the end. I also appreciated the Christian elements in this book. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Carley's work in the future. -
Loved it!
Such a sweet book! At first I was a bit confused, this didn't seem to be a regular western story. But as it went on it explains why the English nobleman is in the primitive old west. And it really makes you think about all the small things that happen that the Lord uses to link two people together. Loved the extended epilogue! Fantastic read!!! -
Love knows no class
Filled with intrigue, scandal, and murder, Nate and Molly's rocky road to happily ever after I a classic upper class/commoner love story. Yes, the upper class I a British nobleman but the twist is a fiery Irish lass and the setting is the untamed wild west. Great read. -
Different type of womens roles in American history
I especially enjoyed the way that the author explored the life differnces among the characters, Mollie, and Emmaline especially. The different cultures, and the experiences and expectations of the two families, paint a picture of diversity. I LOOK FORWARD TO A story of the rest of the characters.
