Charlotte has finally found a good place in her life. She’s full of self-confidence, she’s successful at her career, and for the first time in a long time, she’s found some happiness. But her family won’t leave well enough alone and after escaping her abusive ex and getting her life back on track, all Charlotte wants is some peace. When her wish isn’t granted, she ran away… during a snowstorm on a mountain she was unfamiliar with. And then… you guessed it, she ended up in an accident. Luckily Micah, who lives on that mountain, happened upon her and rescued her. However, when she regains consciousness, she doesn’t remember who she is. Funny enough, Micah does.

The events and heartache that both Charlotte and Micah have endured was painful to read, but it effectively showed their vulnerabilities and their strengths. I couldn’t help but admire them and root for their success and triumph over their heartaches. The author did a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life and those steamy scenes were lit!

    Happy Reading! xo

I reeeaaally wanted to love this. I'm so upset this sucked so much.

I read the synopsis and was so intrigued - I really expected to fall in love with this story. However, I had a few issues:

^^For anyone who can't tolerate stupidity, perhaps you had best read my hidden spoilers.

R.R. Banks has great covers and smart blurbs. I have been lured into reading many a time with the hope I will love as much as the first one I read, Accidental Fiancé.
    https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I am a glass-half-full reader so when this became available at a ridiculous price, I gave it a go. Which means, I read this with the mindset of suspended reality because that was what was needed.

Our main character, Charlotte is the child who gets no respect from her family. None.

From the very beginning, she didn't fit the mold her family expected of her. She came from an extremely well to do family and the only path acceptable was to be married with 2.5 kids and doing the country club life.
This was the focus and her two sisters drank the Koolaide and were on their way to being exactly what the mother wanted.

Charlotte tried to be what they wanted and even feel into line during high school. An acceptable and perfect society advancement for parents boy took a liking to her. She thought she was living the dream. But as this boy played her emotionally, Charlotte became sure she was doing everything wrong...after all he kept telling her so. Unfortunately, Charlotte sated with this guy through college and only after hit slapped her did she pull herself out of this relationship.

Now Charlotte has been working on herself. She has worked very hard to shed all of the insecurities she developed over this time. She has made a career, bought a home and is happy with her life. She has told her parents, especially her mother, to let things be and she is perfectly fine without the ex and not to hock her about marriage again.

Instead of listening to her, her family sets up a situation which triggers Charlotte to run from the mountain luxury cabin rented for Thanksgiving. She throws her things in her suitcase, takes her sister's car and rushes down the mountain away from them all. There is a huge snowstorm and a tree has fallen blocking the road Charlotte tuned onto. In a moments thinking, she turns the car so that the back of the car will take the brunt of the hit. She does hit her head on the steering wheel and is knocked out.

Micah has everything he thinks he wants. At least with all that has happened to him, he has made the best out of everything. He had a future he thought was going to be perfect...Pro football career, a woman who loved him and living the dream.

Then everything was ripped away...an injury, a woman who saw him as an investment, not love. It spurred him to re-invent himself, become a computer whiz, sell out, and now hide up in the mountains. He built his luxury lodge in an isolated area and found a homeless dog as a companion. He chopped his wood for the fires, smoked his meats for food and enjoyed his freedom from stress and others.

When Micah heard a tree was down on his off-road to his lodge, he took his dog to see how bad it was. As he approached the area, he saw a crunched car up against the tree. There in the driver's seat was a woman slumped over the steering wheel. He pried open the door and pulled her out. The snow was falling hard and hurried to get her to the cabin.

As Micah takes care of her and lays her on the bed in the guest room, her face looks very familiar to him. She reminds of the girl he always had a feeling for in high school. A girl who was different then the crew he was running with...she was from a family who would never accept him. He was from the wrong side of the tracks for them, he had nothing to offer in their eyes.

Charlotte wakes, she sees where she is and has no concept of how she got there...and more disturbing is she has no idea who she is. Everything is a blank. As she takes it all in, the dog is there watching over her giving her a feeling of safety. She goes out of the room, looks around and then discovers Micah. She looks at him with hesitation and then there is a wave of knowing these eyes looking back at her but then fades away.

As Micah talks with Charlotte, she tells him she has no idea of who she is. He is concerned because he has no idea how to help those who have temporary memory loss. Should he tell her about their past together...or should he let her come to her memories come to her on her own...

What happens is this allows Micah to open up and share all sorts of things he has held on to Charlotte. Charlotte responds to this and an attraction between the two of them. The idea of being locked into the area as the downed tree was not a priority for the community in need from the storm gave them the bubble of only them to explore these feelings.

    Then the bubble breaks...

This had some strong moments yet there was a need of acceptance of what R.R. Banks presented. A horrible family, deaf to Charlotte and totally manipulative. A belief in high school longings being a foundation for immediate love. If you could buy in, then the read was there with an HEA at the end.

Okay, something you need to know about me. I am not a fan of amnesia books. However, R.R has done a wonderful job with this story.

This story hits some major issues, domestic abuse, family not believing you and self-doubt. These are hard issues to deal with and read about. But I think R.R did a great job.

I enjoyed this book greatly. Another must read! I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.

Charlotte bumped and bounced in the car, following the rutted dirt road taking her toward the cabin her parents had rented for their Thanksgiving celebration. That alone was strange since their staff had always prepared the Thanksgiving meal for them at home. Even her Mom, who met her on her arrival, had to put on a false bravado to not show her own disappointment – her mother was, after all, not a nature lover, nor an experienced cook. There had to be some other reason for bringing them all together in this cabin in the woods. It just didn’t make sense otherwise.

As she started to unpack, she learned the reason for the family get-together. Her mother told her they had hoped to be celebrating her marriage by now. She had broken up with Daniel months ago and did not want to discuss the topic. But at dinner, her two younger sisters arrived with “news” – both of them were pregnant! The family made a huge fuss, then her mother turned to Charlotte and asked, despite their earlier discussion, when Charlotte was going to get married too! She figured the news of babies on the way would motivate Charlotte to want the same life for herself! They didn’t understand what Charlotte had suffered through with the abusive Daniel and the courage it took to break free. She got up and left the table.

Micah finished his coffee and went back outside. It was evident that the severe snow storm being predicted was probably going to arrive soon. He enjoyed being here in the mountains, preparing for the snow by chopping and gathering enough wood to keep the lodge warm and to cook his food, even if the power failed. On the way back, he noticed smoke from the chimney of another cabin across the mountain.

Charlotte woke and made coffee. Her younger sister joined her. Then the kids woke and they all played games. As Charlotte laid on her bed reading, she heard her mother greet someone at the door and she was called to come out to the living room. She almost stopped breathing. Daniel was there! Her parents had invited him so he could spend the week and reconnect with her. He lied about why she left him and they believed every word he said. Had everyone betrayed her??? Why would no one listen to her?

Charlotte quickly packed her suitcase, pushed past Daniel and her father, and took her sister’s car, racing away before Daniel caught up to her. But now the roads were icy and as she headed down the mountain, the car started to slide. When she suddenly saw the dark shape of a fallen tree across her path, she braked hard and turned the wheel. Micah heard the crash and investigated, pulling her out of the car and carrying her to the lodge. He felt he sort of recognized her. He continued trying to remember her. When he finally realized that he had gone to high school with her – Charlotte, he thought – she awoke … and had no idea who she was! Would Daniel come after her? Would he drag her back to the cabin or hurt her? Or would Micah intervene and want to keep her safe?

This was an outstanding story, very well written and grabbing your heartstrings right from the start. The reader could immediately feel the pain Charlotte had gone through, and sympathy that her family, whom she loved, just didn’t get it. They were so out of touch with her feelings they could not support her and help her heal. Grab a copy of this wonderful book and see how it all turns out for her. I received this copy from Booksprout and my comments reflect my honest opinion. I also purchased a copy of the book for my permanent library – yes it’s that good!

This was a good read for me.
Charolette is starting her new life after her relationship withDaniel who she was with since high school, he was abusive and manipulative. Of course she would have been out of the relationship sooner if her whole family had not been dead set on her staying with Daniel no matter how awful she tried to explain that he was.
When her parents invite him up for a thanksgiving celebration that is enough for Charlotte to take her sisters car and just drive up the mountain, unfortunately and quite predictably, the snow storm causes her car to careen into a tree, leaving her with a bump on the head and amnesia...
She is found by Micah, he lives up on the mountain alone with his dog Scout. He finds her and brings her back to his cabin. He does his best to help her get her memory back but not really since he is actually someone who knew her from before, he doesn't tell her though.
I did like that she stood strong in her choice to stay away from Daniel and no matter what her parents had tried to force her to do she never faulted even when it seemed as if Micah had given up on their relationship.

This book I'd say crosses genres. It's a thriller, family drama, and romance. Usually I don't like steamy romance, but the plot is so well written, I liked this one. The title fits well too with the storyline. It's about a good-looking man Micah who was tech guru and after making lots of money, chose to build himself a lodge up in the mountains where only he and his dog Scout live. That is, until one day when he comes across a woman who's been in a wreck where her car crashed into tree. She's alright with just superficial injuries except that she has no idea who she is or how she got in that car and why. I like the way the author switches back and forth each chapter from Charlotte's point-of-view to his point-of-view, and it's through this technique that we (the readers) learn the story. For example, as Micah explains, "The winter storm trapped us together.
But I'll keep her safe and warm.
With every caress, I'll show her body what it craves.
With every kiss, I'll mark her as my woman." Check it out for a great read.

En serio.... se conocen de un día (aunque él la reconozca del instituto pero nunca hablaron, solo la conoce de vista) y ella no tiene memoria y él hace esto:

My hunger for her swelled in my belly and I couldn't resist it any longer. I leaned forward and swept my tongue between her breasts, collecting the drops of water and bringing them into my mouth with the taste of her skin.

NO, NO y NO!! Ella no ha dado indicios de que quiera nada contigo y a mayores no tiene memoria....

although there were parts of this story that were good, there were too many aspects that were just ridiculous and poorly executed which took away my enjoyment of the book. Charloette's family was written to be so completely hated and yet were forgiven too fast and easily without enough revenge to balance it out. I enjoyed Charlotte going through her trials to overcome what happened to her and how Micah handled that, so that part was well written. Scout was the best character in the whole story but wasn't enough to push the star rating up beyond Charloettes ignorance with her family. in fact, remove all mention of charlottes family and daniel and I'd have given this book 4 stars.

  • Kristi Hudecek-Ashwill

This is a great story with a fantastic plot and good characters.

Charlotte comes from a wealthy family. Her mother is obsessed with good families and her daughters marrying men from good families. It worked for Charlotte's two sisters, but not Charlotte. Her mother's choice was Daniel. He came from a good family, had money, and swore his love for Charlotte. Much to her family's chagrin, Charlotte dumped Daniel because he was abusive and a manipulator. They didn't listen.

When Charlotte rides with her parents to a mountain cabin for a family Thanksgiving, she is surprised when Daniel shows up. She'd told her parents that her relationship with him was over and, in a fit of anger, she takes off in her sister's car and piles it into a tree.

Micah and his dog, Scout, find Charlotte unconscious in the car. There's a big snow storm coming and Micah's lodge isn't too far from the scene of the accident. He fixes her up, realizing who she is. The problem is, she's lost her memory.

She has no idea who he is. What she does know is that he's kind, sweet, and thoughtful. He's alone and is in a self-imposed exile. He intrigues her. Likewise, she intrigues him. He knows who she is and isn't sure if he should reveal her identity to her or the fact that they knew each other in high school.

Daniel and Charlotte's mother were perfect antagonists. I didn't like either of them and they played well together. It was them against Charlotte and Micah. It made for some tangible tension while the story was unfolding. I was cheering for Micah and then Charlotte and then scowling at her mother while I wanted to punch Daniel.

I loved this book, but there is one thing that I think it really needs. I mean this with heartfelt sincerity. We need some descriptions of the characters. I got a minute picture of Micah in that it was said he had green eyes. Later, I think it said he had a beard. I have no idea what Charlotte looked like. I am a visual reader, meaning I picture things in my head while I'm reading, and I came up with nothing.

As I said, I loved this book. It just would have been better had I been able to see who the author was seeing. There were also some awkward sentences and a misspelled word or two.

As a bonus, there are more novels in this book after this one. Yay!

Charlotte💃💋 is on a Thanksgiving retreat at a cabin in the woods with her very wealthy family. It looks more like an intervention to her, though. She is the only one of The three daughters not married. Her ex boyfriend, Daniel👹, was an abusive manipulator and she finally dumped him, but for some reason her mother and father liked him, and they constantly remind her of her failure at romance.

When Daniel👹 shows up to the cabin at the invitation of Charlotte's parents, Charlotte grabs her bag and leaves!

Micah🐺🍆🌋🔪, a wealthy recluse, lives in the other side of the mountain, but he sees the smoke coming from the cabin where Charlotte's family is staying. He can't figure out why they don't leave, because there is a huge snow storm setting in.
A huge 🌳tree falls across the road to Micah's lodge, and Charlotte's car skids into it in her haste to run from Daniel👹.
Luckily, Micah🐺🍆🌋 finds her and takes her to his place, before she freezes. A convenient case of amnesia adds to the plot.

    Let the bedroom games begin!

An addictive, compelling savagely beautiful story. What a fantastic story! I was hung up on how deeply emotional it was, and how adeptly the author was able to show the dysfunction in a seemingly perfect family. To make it even deeper, the manipulations of an abuser and a hidden victim are also spot on and emotionally deep. Charlotte was the character that I rooted for through the whole book. Micah had his own baggage to carry too and I wondered if they would be okay in the end. Her Mom was a piece of work though and I just didn't get her whole elitist vibe although I know there are people like that in the world. I was completely addicted to this whole beautiful mess and I need to tell everyone I know that they need to read this book too!

    Amazing

I fell in love with this book right from the start. R.R. Banks did such a wonderful job with the characters and the plot that I was thrilled. I honestly didn't want this book to end because I was so in love with Micah and Charlotte's story. Plus I now need to have a dog like Scout. I'm so happy he played such a big role in the book.

  • Tammy Kazmierczak

    Suspenseful and Hot!!

The subject of abuse is always tough to stomach. Charlotte and Micah have a shared past that actually draws them back together, even when Charlotte has amnesia. Their attraction is hot and steamy as they heat up all the rooms in the lodge on the mountain. Her family made me furious that they didn’t believe her claims of abuse but good prevailed in this case. Once I started reading, it was hard to put down. Banks does it again with another great story.

    Powerful and Beautiful Love Story

Damaged by R.R Banks. 5 Stars

I couldnt of predicted the last day of the year i would read a book that was absolutly the perfect choice to read.
It leaves a lasting memory. Its that good.

Micha and Charlotte's story touches on some really deep fears inside themselves, and how those fears have made them who they are.
What's Beautiful is how a accident brings these two togethet, they heal each other inside.

They say you can see someones soul through their eyes and the soul will know their forever Love.
Micha and Charlott's eyes met years ago in highschool and the connection was made and never forgotten.

    Powerful and Beautiful Love Story.

I have voluntariy read and reviewed this book by its author.

So, I read this book right before Christmas and have been mulling over writing a review. I finished the book and was quite angry...like throw my kindle down and growl kind of angry. The main character's family really really irked me. After giving it lots of thought I realized that my response is a testimony to Mr. Banks writing. If an author is able to garner those kinds of emotions from readers, then said author is doing his job well. I will say this book is a little on the short side - especially considering the heavy subject matter. Sure, it is a love story, but it really is touching on an issue that more people than you think have to deal with. I applaud Mr. Banks for writing something beyond your basic love story. I think it makes it more "real" for the reader.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book
This was an amazing read, yes it is a story that has similarities to others,
Mountain Man/Recluse/Billionaire saves Damsel in distress, BUT OH boy
right there is where the similarities end. RR Banks took that to an extreme level
He grabs you and DOES not let go, you become invested in the lives of
Charlotte and Micah, We start this with Charlotte going with her family up in
the mountains to a cabin for the Thanksgiving holiday, She is both looking forward
to spending time with her family and dreading it as well, Her mother is one of those
women who feel that social standing is more important than anything else, So when
not only does she make Charlotte feel like she is a failure in everything she does she
also manipulates relationships, IE the one that Charlotte has FINALLY gotten away from
Her ex Daniel. They had been together since High School but even as far back as that
Daniel was abusive to Charlotte. it only got worse until she FINALLY decided that it was over
she was deserving of a better life than that. But Charlotte's mom (and even her dad) believed
the lies he had told. So when he shows up for the family Thanksgiving by her moms invite
Charlotte runs, Into a blizzard of a storm, She is trying to get back home but takes the wrong
way and ends up hitting a huge tree that is blocking the road, Micah has left his life behind a few
years ago, He grew up with a very abusive father and a mom that would do anything for him, He
had goals and aspirations that were shattered by a drunk driver, Micah turned that horrible thing
into something positive and made millions, Now he lives in his mountain lodge, alone and he is
happy that way, That is until he comes across the woman who is hurt when she hits that tree in
the snowstorm, Micah takes her back to his lodge. He feels a spark of recognition he thinks he knows
this woman from high school, Charlotte, When she wakes with no memories what so ever, Micah cannot
decide if he should tell her more than he knows, That he does remember her from school and who she
is exactly, He does tell her that he thinks her name is Charlotte.
I absolutely loved how this story plays out from this point, How Micah and Charlotte fall in love with
each other, What happens when she gets her memories back, How they both truly knew each other in
school, yet never spoke to each other. How Charlotte FINALLY stands up to her mother. Everything about
this story was wonderful, It is a book that will grab you and not let go until the very end. I highly recommend this book

Charlotte has always done what she could to keep her family happy with her. However when Daniel kept abusing her she knew she had to leave even though none of her family believed her about the abuse. For Thanksgiving her mother tells her that they rented a cabin in the mountains for the holidays. As soon as her sisters announced their good news her mother started in on her. What really sent Charlotte running was that her mother had invited Daniel to their holiday getaway. Taking off in her sister Madison's car Charlotte leaves not getting too far away before she crashes into a tree. Micah just wanted to be left alone to his solitude that is until he recognized Charlotte in the crashed car. Carrying her back to his lodge Micah left his dog Scout to look after her while he went after her belongings. Micah remembered Charlotte from when they wee in school together and he has always been attracted to her. What he never expected was that she would wake up with no memory. As they spent time together Charlotte started to relax and her memory started coming back to her. She knew that there was a man she was running from and that she was afraid of him not who it was. Micah promised to keep her safe and to take care of her. However when Charlotte did remember everything she thought that Micah was trying to take advantage to her until he rescued her for the third time of knowing her. Charlotte realized it didn't matter how she came to be there just that she loved Micah. When she did contact her family it was to find out that they still believe Daniel over her again. When she didn't immediately come home her mother told her that her father was sick to get her back. However it was just another ploy to get her back to Daniel. Will Micah claim Charlotte for his own? Will the truth about Daniel come out?

I loved this story once I started it I was wrapped up in the storyline. The chemistry between Micah and Charlotte is sizzling. If you haven't read anything by RR Banks then this is the one to start with. Another five star hit I can't wait to read more from this author.

Charlotte started dating Daniel in high school and at first he seemed like the perfect boyfriend because he was kind, considerate and her family loved him. She dated him through college and afterwards but he changed into an abusive controlling boyfriend until Charlotte got the nerve to break up with him. It is now several months later and she and her family are spending Thanksgiving in a remote cabin. Charlotte is shocked when Daniel walks in at the invitation of her mother. Angry she storms out of the cabin and drives away in her sister's car in the middle of a snowstorm. She is lost and has no idea where she is until she runs into a down tree.
Micah enjoys living out on the mountain with his dog. In high school and college, he was a big football star until a car accident damaged his leg. He had to change his dream and became a success in the tech industry. He has mostly retired from his business to live far away from any pitying looks. He is outside when he hears Charlotte's car crash and he comes to the rescue. He finds Charlotte with a minor head injury and brings her back to his cabin. She looks familiar to him and he is pretty he went to high school with her. He remembers stepping in to save her from an angry boyfriend. Charlotte wakes up later with no memory of who she is or what she was doing. Micah is torn between telling her what he remembers about her and keeping silent to help her remember on her own.
Charlotte wakes up totally confused and with no memories. Thanks to the kindness of Micah she is safe and taken care of. The more time she spends with him, the more her feelings grow. The two start to fall in love.. but then her memory comes back
This is a great book about a couple who should have gotten together a long time ago. I really felt for Charlotte who was trying to turn her life around but kept getting sabotaged by her well meaning family. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.
