  Very short book I read last night. This morning when I began to write a review I couldn’t for the life of me remember what it was about. That tells me something. I had to read several pages for any of it to come back to me. Then I had to look at all my bookmarks and notes to also remind me of why this book was lacking.
  
  Three words: editing would help.
  
  Read on only if you want particulars. Otherwise just know I didn’t care for this book…
  
  
  1. Someone pregnant in February (meaning she probably got in that condition in January or early February) shouldn’t have a Christmas due date. Ten or eleven months of pregnancy?
  2. Amish don’t “give their heart to Gott”. They are simply Amish or not.
  3. A young daughter living in the main character's home was mentioned by name, but had no scenes and was a non-entity until the last two chapters
  4. A devout Amish man probably wouldn’t describe an overweight man as fatso
  5. It is not the Amish way for a bishop to kick a whole family out of their home and community because their teenager is drinking and acting up, nor shun them with no ability to come back into the fold. They might make the teenager leave, but not the whole family with nowhere to go.
  6. Date on one page says Christmas 1869, then two pages later it’s Christmas Eve.
  7. A man whose 9-month pregnant wife (with her third child) who is bleeding and crying out that she's gone into labor isn't going to leave her at 2:00 am during a raging blizzard to find a doctor who, on a good day, is 3 hours away, down a forested hill with absolutely no way to see a trail or road, who can only see barely in front of his nose.
  (Just to name a few)
  
  It had potential, but read like it was written for someone considerably younger.
  
  For a fifth grader, it might be a 5-star book! Sadly, the best I can give it is two stars.

  AMISH Christmas Story: Miracles Happen When Hearts Are Open
  Story starts out with Clemente and he's gotten the whole family in trouble and the community shuns them all.
  They relocate with help from others to the top of a mountain where mother has declared she will deliver a baby in December.
  The son Clemente goes into town, never to be seen again. The young girl helps the parents as much as she can but life is hard for them in the wildnerness.
  Miracles do happen on many counts and there is a lot of religion and quotes from the Bible to help exolain it all.
  Great read.

  I liked this book's storyline. I liked all the characters in this story. I liked the ending. Most of all I liked the message of this story.

  Can a rebellious son find forgiveness for the trouble he causes his Amish family?
  
  Never giving up on his son, and accepting the punishment for the family; faith is stronger when tested. Christmas miracles do happen.

  An Amish family is shunned due to a nonbelieving son. The father must make a trip in a fierce snowstorm to get the doctor for his pregnant wife. This is a delightful Christmas story
