Reggae is the heart of the island of Jamaica, and has shaped its culture, religion, dress, and language. From its beginnings in traditional African folk songs, to its metamorphosis into a vehicle for messages of Rastafarianism and social and political protest, reggae is truly a music of the people. Influencing the sounds of artists worldwide, it captures the universal desire for peace, change, and a better world. In the tradition of One Nation Under a Rap Music and Its Roots, James Haskins brings teens another funky, accesible, and comprehensive history of a people and their music.

One Love, One Heart: A History of Reggae Reviews

I thought that this book was a great book to read about, it was a great book to read and learn about the history of reggae and the history of Bob Marley. I thought it was fun to read about Bob Marley and how he became the man who is today. Bob Marley was a Christian but he became a Rasta man because he believed in their teachings. Bob Marley never expected his music to become this famous but it did. He wanted people all around the world to listen to reggae and know what it is about, him and his band the Wailers. Bob Marley respected many people who believed in Rastafari culture. This book is a nice book to read to learn about Bob Marley and some facts about his life.

Very dry book; I was hoping for a more upbeat story
