The Astrology of You and Me Reviews
-
I had high hopes for this book. I love the cover, the publisher, and the synopsis, but yikes this is not a great book for astrology. The big issue is that it only looks at sun signs, but applies them to every aspect of life, never taking into account that all signs and planets are present in every chart. It made everyone seem one dimensional and relied too heavily on stereotypes. For example, the love section should be used with one’s Venus and Mars signs, not their sun sign. A nice idea, but ultimately, unhelpful.

To say that I am obsessed with this book is a complete understatement! It's no secret that I am a firm believer that our behavior is very much influenced by our astrological charts and the position of the stars at our time of birth. I am the first to read anything which offers me insight on not only myself, but those I choose to surround myself with. This book is bea-u-tiful! A fun and colorful hardcover book that would look beautiful on your bookshelf or coffee table. If you are looking for insight on your boss, co-worker, friend, family member, spouse, even your mailman, this will offer you insightful information IF you know that personas astrological sign. Each sign is separated into chapters and broken down into sections that are easily identifiable and legible. In other words, you won't be wasting time flipping pages to find the content you seek! I found the information to be spot on as it relates to individuals in my life, including myself.
Many thanks to Gary Goldschneider and Quirk for gifting me a finished copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. -
The Astrology of You and Me would make a great coffee table book for conversational purposes. The cover alone would quickly draw attention with its sparkly and shimmery depictions of the constellations.
The contents are organized by astrological signs and grouped by topics of Work, Love, Friends and Family. It is presented in an easy to read format and contains the standard astrological traits, but with emphasis on how to interact with a particular zodiac sign.
An interesting book to have for entertainment and perhaps some experimentation. Four stars.
I received a physical copy of the book as part of a Giveaway from Quirk Books. The review/comments herein are completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions. -
Gary Goldschneider approached the "manual look" in Everyday Astrology. This is my first book by Gary.
Inside the book:
Work
The boss
The employee
The co worker
The client
The competitor
Love
The first date
The bf/gf
The spouse
The lover
The ex
The friend
The roommate
The parent
The sibling
The child
Strengths
Weaknesses
Interactive style
Each star sign covers all the sections above, alongside strengths, weaknesses and interactive style.
I read majority of the signs in the book regarding my life, on the other hand. I become curious when Gary mentioned the parent and the inner child of a star sign. I often questioned ones parenting skill and if star sign really plays a role. Highly recommended section if you enjoy reasoning. However, how to ask your (enter sign here) boss for a raise, made me think. Should I try this out?!
As a Virgo, I hope to read more of Goldschneider's books! -

Really into reading dumb books right now and this fit right in 👍🏻

astrology is real
-
It really has a lot about astrology. Of course not all of it is completely correct, and people change and develop, but it gave me a sense of who I am and who my family is. It helped me better understand them. It is also extremely aesthetically pleasing.✨✨💖

Yet another book like Linda Goodman's sun sign. There is nothing in this book that I don't know about. But that doesn't mean that I didn't like it. It is informative and detailed. I would definitely recommend it to people who are unable to understand a person may it be his boss or girlfriend or wife...
And as always astrology books are my Go-To reads. -
3.5 stars because I am not sure if I believe in astrology, but this book is very accessible! Great layout.
It feels a bit of a cheat to mark this read, as I read the relevant parts and skimmed the remainder.
Before I must return this book to the library, I plan to find out my boss's birthday and look it up herein.
This book classified me as a Gemini, and let me tell you -- he nailed it describing the worker me! -
I didn't read this word for word, just the parts that pertained to people in my life. Astrology books generally aren't super useful, and this one was too black-and-white. A lot of very specific statements that just can't be applied to an entire group of people, and no consideration of rising/moon signs.
-
This is the BEST book to keep around the house and share with family/friends. I’ve probably given it as a gift 6+ times and even the men in my family love it! Must order!!

This astrology book is formatted in a really interesting way, skipping the getting-to-know-signs thing and getting right to the point. It’s purpose is to help you manipulate others and it does that by breaking down the different roles into which people can fall, like Friend, Lover, Ex, Employee, etc. It gives advice and presents warnings. It offers some key traits, as well.
The cover and formatting of this book are really beautiful and enjoyable.
Aside from that, I was unimpressed. Some of the sections seemed spot-on, but some of them read as though Goldschneider was fixating on certain aspects or possibilities of the signs, instead of experiences that are most common with those signs. I’ve wanted to purchase this book for months now and I’m glad that I waited until I found a good deal ($1.35 baby!) because I did not feel like I learned much that I didn’t already know and the biggest questions I had appear to have gone unanswered.
I do think that the formatting and ideas behind this book are unique enough to give to some credit, but overall it would not be an astrology book that I would rave about or recommend to others. -
I do wish that this book covered more than just the sun sign but it's still great and informative.
-
4 stars but one of the best astrology books I've read in a while. This is not a book you'd read in one sitting. This is a manual that you can (should) whip out and consult when in need. It's very practical and detailed. The accuracy, of course, can vary a lot if your sun and moon (possibly rising as well) is not in the same element since it's based on stereotypes. I saw some people complaining about it but astrology is literally broad-spectrum stereotyping. And it sure was accurate for my sun sign.

i love astrology as much as any other hoe, but this was too boring
-
Ehhh.

3.5 stars
Cover love though!
This book looked great from the blurb, and the design/formatting was very good.
However, some of the things I read did not line up with how the signs actually act, including my own sign (which I will look at below). Also, a big portion of each sign was spent on Work/Business (boss, client, employee, etc.) which didn't really apply to me since I don't have too much experience there. It was interesting to read about the more personal side though, like "love", "friends", and "parents" sections.
Okay, now onto what I didn't like. I felt like a lot of the sign descriptions were off.
Take for example, (my sign), Aries:
Wooing/Picking Up Aries. "Once an Aries sees you are interested, he/she may ignore you completely whether the attraction is mutual or not. Because of this tactic, it may be difficult to determine if Aries is in fact interested in you." (Goldschneider, 23).
>> What? If an Aries is interested, why would they IGNORE the person????????????????????? This doesn't fit at all with Aries' take charge attitude, and how they love 'the chase'. If they DON'T like you and ignore you, that makes total sense. But if they do, that makes no sense.
I felt like the author may have disliked certain signs a little bit, such as Aries and Virgo (from what I can remember). For example, this: "[U]nder that coating of Aries bravado and self-confidence is a tiny child who hates and fears rejection above all things" (24). Well why does it have to be a tiny child? The author kept referring to Aries as childlike, and childish, throughout the whole Aries chapter. 😒
Affection. "Certainly you should not expect affection from them in social situations, where they will most often remain cool. Yet in private, they can be extremely affectionate." (26).
>> I didn't believe this, so I looked up 'Aries pda' only to find almost every source says Aries LIKE PDA and affection in social situations!! Whattt....
Humour. "Aries love to be silly and have fun, but often have difficulty doing so because of their serious and self-conscious demeanour." (26).
>> Again, what? Aries are supposedly childlike and childish but they're also so serious they can't even have fun? Arghh. No. Aries are funny and laugh all the time, and they can also be serious but it doesn't prevent them from being humourous!!
Overall, it was an okay read. I didn't find it to be accurate to some of the signs, especially my sign (I can't speak for the rest).
Would recommend to people interested in astrology. Try it out for yourself! -
I’ve decided to give up on this book. I’ve made a point of trying not to give up on any books this year, so I’ve just been taking breaks from this book and reading fiction instead, but I just finished one of said fiction books and the idea of going back to this book is absolutely dreadful.
I thought I would enjoy this book because I’m interested in astrology, but I just couldn’t get into it. It was pretty boring, beyond the chapter about my sign which was a little better, but I had some other issues with it too.
For one, the ridiculous amount of, for lack of a better word, classism, in this book. A good portion of each chapter is dedicated to interacting with people of different signs in the workforce, and oh my god it’s all office job crap that you see in movies but you don’t really know what anybody actually does other than go to meetings about nothing and lead an active social life outside of work. I’ve literally never met somebody like this in real life. I don’t know people that work in offices like that. Like, none of it applies to people who work any sort of retail, customer service, trades, etc type jobs. It’s only relevant to a small amount of people, who honestly, most of which I don’t think are even a target audience for an astrology book.
Secondly, this book was less about understanding people and what the different signs signify, and more about how to take advantage of people and use people and make them do what you want. I hated that.
Heavy emphasis on cheating in the book. Most every sign has a big old bit about when they cheat and how long it lasts and that whole bit. A lot of mention of the phrase “occasional stray” and how every sign feels like an occasional stray should be forgiven and how they’re “mostly loyal” like okay glad to know the author is having an affair. Out of the signs I read, which was all but like three or so, there was maybe one or two that were “unlikely to cheat”. Okay.
Lastly, it didn’t seem terribly accurate. Maybe 50% at best. Which is like, is it because he’s applying only sun signs to every aspect in life, or is he just full of bullshit?
Maybe I’m being overly judgmental, I don’t know. I’ll probably try to read a different (and likely shorter) book on astrology at some other point to compare, but, as much as I tried to like this book, I definitely did not. I was originally thinking two stars, for the half or so of stuff where I was like ‘okay, yeah, I can see that’ but since I couldn’t even bring myself to finish it, I’m rounding down. -
How to approach other people according to their astrological sign. 12 chapters, one for each sign, with sections: Work, Love, Friends, and Family.
Example of subsections: How to ask an Aries Boss for a Raise; Impressing an Aries Boss, Motivating the Aries Employee, Approaching the Aries Co-worker for help...
This sections repeat for all of the signs.
For Love, sections include: Turn-ons and turn-off on the first date, iImpressing the first date, break-ups; even how each sign will act in a divorce.
In the Friend section: Communicating with the _sign_friend, the _sign_ roommate, Borrowing money from the _sign_friend. Just to name a few.
It's the kind of book that you refer to, not read all at once.
I found the Taurus sections entertaining and pretty accurate, even though now and then there are generalizations that can be said for everyone. (No one likes to be dumped or fired, and every child likes affection from their parents...) I read how to handle the Libra child, and it's true, my daughter is always surrounded by her friends.
The one section that surprised me was in Pisces. Maybe I don't recall what I've read in other Astrology books, but this one made Pisces out to seem almost as dark and temperamental as Scorpios. My mom has always been sunny and cheerful, and also my youngest sister for the most part, but maybe other planets in their chart balance them out. Maybe they are not typical, because I've seen that Pisces does have a temperamental tendency. My husband has moon in Pisces and he has a dark side. -
A copy of this book was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Having grown up in a culture that strongly believes in horoscopes and how they can affect how one human interacts with another, I have always been interested in astrology and its effect on relationships. Strangely enough, I never really picked up a book that goes into large detail about this particular subject.
I suppose this might be that my interests in other subjects kept me occupied, or that I never 100% believed in the accuracy of astrology. On the other hand, I tell myself that this is a practice that has been around for hundreds and hundreds of years, and that therefore there has to be some truth to it, or it would have become a thing of the past, right?
When I found out that Quirk Books had published a book about astrology and I saw the cover, I knew that I had to request it for review. Well, this book is even more stunning in person, with silver accents on the cover, and beautiful imagery on the inside. I was also impressed with the amount of detail that was included in this book. Each zodiac has its own section with a beautiful illustration and the author then goes into detail about each sign when it comes to work, love, and friends and family!
I had never learned about horoscopes quite like this before (since this goes beyond one’s monthly horoscope found in a magazine or the like), and definitely had a lot of fun learning about my own sign as well as the signs of my loved ones! I definitely recommend this book whether you’re a fan of horoscopes, and also even if you’re just curious! -
I received this book from the Goodreads Firstreads giveaway program. Thank you author/publisher for the opportunity to read and review The Astrology of You and Me.
Four stars!
I enjoyed The Astrology of You and Me. This book was done beautifully. From the cover to the graphics and layout of the book it was EASY to read. I find astrology entertaining. The Astrology of You and Me goes through all 12 astrological signs. It addresses relationships you as the reader have with people of other astrological signs in regards to WORK.. RELATIONSHIPS.. LOVE. Example.. what to expect if you the reader are in a LOVE relationship with a Leo. Suggesting things the Leo would like. What they are like as a romantic partner. As a spouse. It also gives the traits of the different astrological signs such as strengths..weaknesses.. and interactive style when it comes to relationships..work..and love.
The Astrology of You and Me was a FUN book to read. I will be keeping this in my library for years to come. I also look forward to sharing this with others. -
I love this book; it really affirms my love for astrology even though I inevitably question the concept most of the time. I don’t particularly love the idea of one’s compatibility being determined by the day they are born and the constellation they belong to, but that’s one of the reasons why I like this book—there’s little to none of that in here.
There IS a wide array of different relationships that can be formed with each sign and descriptions of each of them; it’s very enlightening and I found it uncannily accurate. The one thing I’ll say is the author kind of created a vibe that pointed out a lot of negative qualities about each sign and seemed to suggest that other people “walk on eggshells” around these innate flaws in order to have a successful and rewarding relationship with that person.
Otherwise, this was a very interesting read and I really recommend it :) -
The book I didn't know I needed to read! This book is 100% interesting and fun, regardless of how deeply you've invested in astrology. What I loved about reading through this book with an eye for family and coworkers was that embedded in the descriptions of how to relate to different signs is absolutely valuable advice on relating to other people, taking their styles into consideration, and being more thoughtful about interactions. From the beautiful cover to the incredible resemblance of the descriptions to the people I know, I found this book to be an absolute pleasure. Informative if you're into astrology, and super fun even if you're not, I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a different angle on relating well to others.
-
This was a very basic but detailed astrology reference book, broken down by astrology sign and then further into type of relationship to that sign (boss, coworker, friend, spouse, etc). I personally thought it make some good points about the nature of some of the signs and how they differ in different types of roles- for example, how a Libra acts differently as a mother versus as spouse. As with general astrology, using only the sun signs only gives the reader a blanket explanation and not too much depth, so if you are looking for many aspects, this book isn’t it. But if you are a beginner like me, this is a good one to have in your library to help you navigate new relationships throughout your life.

Thanks to Quirk Books for the ARC via NetGalley!
This book has so much material for those who enjoy reading about astrology. I haven't read many books like this before, but in my opinion it's very well written and complete. The author explores so many aspects of each zodiac sign, from work to personal relations. It's very interesting.
To be honest, when I requested this book, I thought I would only read my sign and maybe a few more that I might have some interest in. But actually, I ended up reading all of them. I think it's a nice way to learn more about yourself and also how to deal with others.
