ANIME HEART EYES!!!
Lol, sorry, I just couldn't contain myself. Have you ever been slightly down, mopey, knew something was slightly off, but you couldn't put your finger on exactly what was wrong? And then you read a book that brought you straight out of your funk? This was that book for me.
It's your typical Japanese high school manga, with the cute girls, the HAWWWT guys and the lack of actually being in class, despite the entire story taking place in a school. But there is comfort in getting what you expect and that is exactly what I needed right now. The storyline held my attention, I like all of the characters and this volume ends on a slight cliffhanger, so now I want the next books in the series, but not so much that I am frothing at the mouth and PO'd about it, ala Game of Thrones.
I would definitely recommend this. 5, thank you for getting me out of my slump, stars!

The cutest manga ever!!! I love the characters and I've lost count on how many times I have read it. The art style is unique, beautiful and cute and the story line is fun and interesting. Loved the ending!

Review: So, I didn’t know anything about Heart break Club going into it but the cover gave me some Breakfast Club vibes, so I had to request it. The synopsis states: Nima Momosato is jinxed. Whenever she has a crush on someone, they end up finding love elsewhere right in front of her eyes. She ends up joining a slightly weird club that observes and studies other people's love lives and relationships. Now this was enough to get me hooked.
Nima is jinxed, every time she likes a boy then end up getting girlfriends before she can confess making her a bit of a joke within the school, however, one day she is approached by a girl to join her club as they observe the love lives of others from the shadows. After some thought Nima decides to check out the club where she meets, Ryo, Takeshi (trap alert!) and Yoriko. The banter is already top quality with everyone have something different about them which is hilarious. Yoriko seems to be a nerdy person with the deserve to watch other peoples lives like soap opera, Takeshi is the biggest trap if I’ve ever seen one and Ryo is a secret otaku.
As we learn more about the characters and what they are trying to do with their club we learn about the different outlooks each has on love, Ryo only loves anime, Takeshi is in love with his childhood friend who is engaged while Nima never even gets the chance to confess the only one we don’t know much about is Yoriko, but she seems to know everything about everyone.
In the final section of the manga we get a few interesting twists and I can already see a relationship developing between two of the characters and there is a very strange mystery surrounding another and their love life and it gave me some really creepy vibes, so I can’t wait to get into volume 2 as soon as I can. -

Heart Break Club is a romantic comedy that I can see myself really getting into. The premise is certainly different (and unique) from the usual rom-coms I read and watch, but there was something about this story that intrigued me. It’s an unusual story and I think that’s why I like it so much.
All of the characters are so endearing and lively in their own way. Nima Momosato (the MC) you can’t help but root for. Yoriko Mitoya is an awkward nerdy to love (and also root for). Takeshi Okinoshima is kind, caring and cute. And Ryo Hikawa is an anime fan after me own heart.
This was a great opening to an entertaining story. I’m really interested in seeing where this story goes in the next volume. I’ll have to add this series to my TBR for sure. -

Ahhhh I loved it, I love the art, the characters and the angst. Poor Nima is jinxed if she falls in love the guy finds love with someone else. This is really fun and addictive, I love these type of manga and they're so cheerful and light hearted, the perfect pick me ups. The comedy is great, perfect angst and tension, so good I'm off to get the next because I need to know what happens next and hope Nima gets her guy. -
A super cute manga about a girl with a curse on her head - any guy she crushes on will fall for someone ELSE as soon as she confesses how she feels.
She ends up making friends with some of the school's resident weirdos and they embrace her with open arms... until she starts getting fluttery feelings for one of her new friends... who is in love with someone else AND has another very... intense admirer.
It's definitely one that will appeal to the romantic comedy manga fans. -
This was too cute and I need to read the rest. The illustrations and story are just the kind of light and fluffy that I need.
I do hope that Nima finds that love she's always wanted!

Thank you netgalley for such awesome book. I like reading manga and this was a very funny and unique story one. And Nima the character I guess we all relate to her in some way or other. So this was very good and short read can't wait to read more of this!!

Pretty fun start
It has an interesting concept. A girl whose relationships fail before they begin and her classmate who wants to study how love works. The art is pretty expressive and easy for the eyes. I can't wait to read more. -
Meh.
It wasn't what I expected but it was... Okay. The uniforms gave me Ouran vibes. I just couldn't find myself caring much for the characters with a lack of build up from the get go. -

This was so cute! Nima is unlucky in love. Once she talks to the boy she likes they get a girlfriend. Which brings her to the Heartbreak Club.
I really like the story line. We learned more about each of the members of the club and I really want to know what happens next! -

Heart Break Club was a short and sweet read! I was drawn in by the promise of the sorts of shoujo manga I used to read. The premise, a girl who is 'cursed' so that when she dates a boy (or attempts to) he'll end up finding his true love immediately after, is one I feel like I've seen done before.... but I am a sucker for it anyway. It always adds a genuine tension to the will they/won't they that a lot of romance centred manga tends to have without reason. It actually makes sense for the main character to hold back from confessing to her crush when she believes he'll find someone else immediately after.
The art style was gorgeous!! I'm actually pretty picky when it comes to graphic novels. I'm ashamed to say that I absolutely will judge a book by its cover here, and I have stopped reading manga, in particular, because of art styles that didn't work for me (sorry Ouran High School Host Club;;;). This one hit the right balance of pretty and simple (I mean that in the best of ways!!) with really dynamic expressions in a very manga style. I would absolutely read more of this artist's work just for their pretty characters. (Seriously, everyone is so pretty I love it)
Plot wise it had some pretty standard tropes (pretty feminine boy, school carnival, confessions...) but I low key picked it up exactly for a dose of that... It balanced angst and comedy well, which is always a plus with a premise like this. I want to feel the weight of it, but I don't want the MC crying every third page.... It just struck a really nice balance all round.
Honestly, it's such a short and sweet manga I feel like it's one I'd recommend you just read if intrigued. Definitely a good read when you're craving something cute!
