Revised and updated. This book is a compilation of over a year of writing on homemaking, creating household budgets, buying a home on one income, and the very beginnings of backyard farming in a small city. It is from a blog that was created to inspire and share life as a housewife and mother and ways to do it all in the easiest and most enjoyable way possible. It is about mixing the delights of the modern life with the slower pace of the old fashioned to create balance and heart in the home and with the family.

This lady has lots of determination . Life gives us a lot of bumps. Good luck with the canning. When I had a garden. My husband and I

used to walk around every evening seeing how things had grown . This was something we could share. We were also growing our family. This book hit close to home. One of my favorites.

I will give this 5 stars because I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. However, if you are not familiar with Kate, I think this would be very hard to absorb. I have been a subscriber for years so I was able to understand the back stories and understand it was several blog entries over the years. That being said, this is a wonderful look into a housewife's life. As a homemaker, I found her thoughts comforting and relatable. It gave me a boost of motivation for my homemaking. She sets a great example of letting go of perfectionism and loving right where you are at.

    A Way of Life

It may not be your preferred domain, or it might be,but it's fun to read about and imagine yourself doing. I'm a 75-year-old invalid now, but if I had read this 55 years ago I would have tried to do the same thing.
Worth reading for most women and some men.

I really wanted to love this book but sadly I found it extremely repetitive....The pages were filled with the same stories and scenarios - sometimes in the same exact words and sentences!
