ANOTHER FABULOUS ADDITION TO THE SERIES & MY NEW FAVORITE !!!
Title: Tormod
Series: Immortal Highlander
Author: Hazel Hunter
Designation: Book Four of Series, Full-Length Standalone, No Cliffhanger, Medieval Historical/Time Travel/Fantasy Romance
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Sexy Riveting Stars*****
**Disclaimer: Although there is an underlying interconnected storyline running throughout the series, each release focuses primarily on one couple finding love and their happy ending. I believe each of the books can still be read as standalones. The author does a fabulous job of giving the reader sufficient backstory, but I recommend reading the books in order of their release. It's one decision I'm sure you'll rever regret.
Oh my! I loved, loved, loved this book! I'm fascinated by stories featuring mythology, folklore, and fantasy, adore Time Travel Romance, infatuated with Medieval Historical Fiction, addicted to steamy romance, obsessed with strong, sassy heroines, completely smitten with sexy Scottish Highlanders from any century, and when I can find it all in one great read, I'm in heaven! And that's exactly what Hazel Hunter delivered - AGAIN! Hunter picks up the pace, kicks up the heat, and doubles the stakes in Tormod, the fourth riveting release in her mega-popular, can't-put-down Immortal Highlander Series! There are so many things I truly enjoyed about this book (and series), so let's talk details!
Tormod is a captivating, imaginative, unique, fast-paced, exceptionally well-crafted and edited, full-length standalone historical medieval time travel romance with paranormal, supernatural, and fantasy elements and filled to the brim with compelling drama, pulse-pounding danger, edge-of-your-seat action, daring adventure, nail-biting suspense, heart-wrenching angst, steamy passion, and heartwarming romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with multiple perspectives and this story had quite a few. I stopped counting at eight! lol... In some instances, multiple points of view can be somewhat confusing to a reader if not skillfully written, but Hunter does an excellent job, and all the perspectives are clearly discernible. I always enjoy stories written with clearly defined multiple perspectives. It allows me to know the thoughts of all the primary characters, not just the protagonists, and I especially enjoy when we know what's going on in the convoluted minds of the bad guys. I think it adds so much more depth and understanding of the story. The dialogue is smart, snappy, and flows effortlessly. Obviously, Hunter did her research. I found the language and terminology of the era to be articulate, exceptionally well executed and authentic to the era. In other words, Hunter's fourteenth-century characters spoke like fourteenth-century Scottish Highlanders. In reality, none of us would be able to understand an actual fourteenth-century Highlander, but Hunter did make them sound as realistic as possible, which definitely added to my enjoyment of this story. But without a doubt, my favorite element of all Hunter's books is the characters, and this story is no exception. Hunter gives us a large cast of intriguing, engaging, and well-developed characters who literally explode from the pages, grab your imagination, demand your undivided attention, and completely capture your heart. I fell head over heels for the two protagonists, present-day archaeologist Jema McShane and Tormod Liefson, fourteenth-century former Norse Viking but now immortally cursed member of Isle of Skye Clan McDonnel. OMG! I loved these two characters! Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed all the characters but the lovely archaeologist and self-professed ditch digger Jema McShane grabbed me in the first few pages of the book. I was intrigued by both Jema McShane and her twin brother Gavin. And I've always had a real soft spot for underdogs, so the reserved loner Viking Tormod Liefson captured my heart when he was introduced as the mapmaker for Clan McDonnel in the first book of the series. I found myself more than a wee bit curious as to how a Norseman ended up as a warrior of the McDonnel Clan, especially since Vikings and Pritani had been enemies for centuries. I was ecstatic when I learned he would have a book of his own and Hunter didn't disappoint with his story. There isn't as much humor in this book as the first two, but there's just as much emotion, if not more since this story includes not one, but two time travelers. Heck, I still have whiplash from all the twists and turns in this story, and there were quite a few scenes that just ripped my heart right out of my chest but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, well entertained, and completely smitten with determined archaeologist Jema McShane and reserved mapmaker Tormod Liefson! Actually, it may be my favorite to date and we do discover how Tormod came to be one of the immortal McDonnel Clan! I don't really know how to explain it, but this book was so much more - more danger, drama, angst, action, adventure, passion, romance, and just more everything!
Cursed immortal warrior Tormod Liefson was on a quest to find the final resting place of the greatest Viking female warrior and shieldmaiden, Thora the Merciless. Thora was credited with the deaths of more Pritani than any warrior to have ever lived. But Thora the Merciless was more than just a great warrior, she was also Tormod's younger sister. It had been a thousand years since her death, but he'd made a vow to find her remains and move them to rest next to their parents, a promise he intended to keep. Unfortunately, he could never allow any of his adopted clansmen to know his plans. They would see it as a betrayal since they were Pritani and it was their people Thora had slain. The Vikings and Pritani had been mortal enemies for centuries. He'd been captured and enslaved but had been freed after agreeing to join the Pritani in defending the Druids from the Romans, which is how he came to be cursed with immortal life and now a member of the McDonnel Clan. But after a thousand years, most of his clansmen still didn't trust him. He was close to finding her grave; he could feel it. But it seems fate has other plans when the earth explodes around him and a beautiful young woman falls into his arms, literally, and crashes into his life. And not just any woman, but another woman from the future. Unlike the three previous women of Druid blood who traveled back in time to the fourteenth century Highlands, archaeologist Jema McShane is a Scot with questionable mixed ancestry and did not come through a portal from America. She fell through time via a portal located at a dig site in present-day Scotland while searching for Freya's Eye, an artifact thought to be only myth. And she didn't make the trip alone. Jema's terminally ill twin brother Gavin McShane was also pulled into the time vortex to the past, but they were somehow separated. Jema is injured during her journey and when she lands in the arms of Clan McDonnel's only Viking, Tormod Liefson, she has no memories of her past. Jema may not know her name but she arrives in the past with an unexpected and very special new ability. Oh my! Sparks fly and passion ignites between these two unlikely lovers, but fate seems to be against them! Will Jema and Tormod find happiness together? We'll see!
Did I like this book? No, I loved it! I was glued to my seat, white knuckling my ereader, completely captivated with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the time flew as quickly as the pages! I could not stop reading! I'm totally smitten with this entire series and can hardly wait to see what Hunter has in store for Gavin McShane in Book 5! Yup, we find out what happens to Gavin in the next book, and I've already preordered my copy! Would I recommend it? You bet and I a but only for adult readers since it does contain several explicit love scenes! If you enjoy well-written medieval historical tales with supernatural elements, and liberally seasoned with time travel, action adventure, danger, drama, passion, and romance, then this book is screaming your name! And if you loved the movie and series Highlander, this story will, most likely, tickle your fancy! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! Well done, Hazel Hunter! Well done, indeed! Tormod is my new favorite! Who knew he was such a smooth, silver-tongued devil?!? I have no idea how Hunter will top this book, but I have every confidence she will in Gavin's story!!! -
There were already a mix of supernatural myths or legends in this series such as immortal Highlanders, Druids and vampires but now Vikings and Norse gods have been tossed into the salad. It's quite a lot to digest.
Tormod is a Viking who was enslaved by the Pritani when he was younger. He had given up his freedom in order to get his sister Thora to safety. As far as I can glean from the story, Pritani were what the ancient Picts or early Gaelic tribes were called.
Thora thought Tormod had been killed. She became a shield maiden and spent the rest of her life getting revenge by killing every Pritani she could find. She was known as Thora the Merciless.
Tormod spends lot of his free time looking for her grave so he can bury her bones next to his parents.
Jema is an archeologist who is intent on finding Freya's Eye to make a name for herself, not for her own gain but in hopes of getting a teaching position so she can earn enough to help her twin brother who is dying of ALS
Jema takes her withered brother Gavin to the dig she is working on after everyone else has gone home. They both end up falling back into time to medieval Scotland. Jema loses her memory and they are separated. She is literally thrown into Tormod's arms when she shoots out of the tomb.
It was interesting following all the different storylines going on in this book. There is Quintus who is the leader of the undead Roman Legion whose main goal is to destroy the immortal McDonnel Clan. He keeps being defeated in each book but always comes up with another scheme. Then there is Gavin who has his own adventure and, of course, Jema and Tormod are the main story. With so much going on, it took a little from the romance side of things.
The next book is titled Gavin so I'm off to read it now. -
This is my favorite of the series so far. I rather liked Jema and have liked Tormod’s character from when it was first introduce. I adore the history and the lore Hunter used when she created this series. Adding some Norse mythology up in the mix just made it more interesting to say the least.
The things that I like about this series which carry over to each book are the powers the heroines get, the Sentience of the tattoos of the heroes, and the amount of history used. It is not 100% accurate—I doubt any book could get that—but she uses enough of it that I don’t mentally gripe about it. I’m also a fan of the little touches she has added that give a little piece of the time period/accuracy to the books.
I really liked how their current obsessions converged. She looking for Freya’s eye/ Thora’s grave and him just his sister’s grave. Having what happened with the undead, Jema’s brother Gavin, Tormod’s sister Thora, and the undead’s second in command was a very interesting storyline.
I think that Jema and Gavin’s powers lent a bit of conflict to the story since they heard stuff they didn’t need to hear or they saw/heard things wrong.
I’m looking forward to Gavin’s book next for sure. -

(Immortal Highlander Book 4): A Scottish Time Travel Romance
(Volume 4)
Jema McShane is an archeologist who is doing a job and brings her twin brother Gavin along who has ALS and is slowly dying. All of a sudden she bangs her head and the last thing she sees is her brother also falling into the pit. Gavin and Jema are somehow separated during the trip, but they both end up landing in medieval Scotland. The problem is Jema has amnesia and doesn't even remember who she is. All she knows is that she has woken up in the arms of the only Viking member of the McDonnel clan, Tormod.
Tormod can hardly believe how the fates have favored him. He has only one desire and that is to protect the strange and beautiful woman, even if it means keeping her exsistance a secret.
The fates have a different path in store for Gavin and his world becomes darkness, the likes of one he has never known.
Wow Hazel Hunter did an amazing job when she wrote this book. It had alot of action and a few things that I didn't see coming. I really enjoyed reading this and it is definitely a page turner. -
I voluntarily received an ARC copy of this book for review and here it is. As with all of the other books in this series, this one here takes the cake. Where we get more than just one that has come back to the past. Loved the fact that the characters were of the same culture just a different time period. Tormod is the map-maker of the clan and always has a good head on his shoulders until he does something that makes him an outcast, want to guess what that may be? I'm not telling. Lots of action, mystery and of course hot romance, MUST READ.

A digital copy was provided to me prior to publishing. My honest review is based solely on my own opinions. I am not being compensated in any way.
This is the fourth book in this series and the fourth book that I have read and reviewed here on my blog. This is the best one yet is several ways.
YES, this review contains revealing information about the story, but not enough to spoil your enjoyment of the book.
Let me tell you what this one’s about. Tormod Liefson is the only Viking in the McDonnell clan that we have come to know in the other three books. He was initially captured and made a slave by the Pritani, then killed along with them by the Romans, and finally made immortal with them by the druids in gratitude for what the clan had done to save the druids before the Romans could kill them. As all his people were dead by then, Tormod swore his allegiance to the clan McDonnell. After these many, many years, he is still a loner even within the clan. He goes in search once a year for his sister’s gravesite. His sister, Thora, was a mighty warrior in her own right, known as Thora the Merciless. She was a berserker.
Dr. Jema McShane is an archealogist with a dig in the Scottish Highlands. Her twin brother, Gavin, was a member of the Black Watch until ALS put him at the mercy of a walker and his dying body totally dependent on his sister. Jema is convinced that there is a gravesite in this last section of the dig, which is now shut down for the season. It is just she and Gavin, when the wall of the site collapses and takes both of them to another time and place. Jema is found at the burial site by Tormod, who is on his annual attempt to locate his sister’s gravesite. Gavin, however, is found by the Roman undead and enslaved. He becomes the personal slave of Prefect Fenella, who we met in the last book. She is the only female in this undead Roman army and she loves to drink blood and have sex. In Gavin, she feels she has found the perfect slave. His trip through the time portal has cured him of his ALS and returned him to his full vigor as a Captain of the Black Watch.
Ms. Hunter weaves her magic back and forth without confusion in this most complex book to date to tell all sides of the story. Jema is a bit on the timid side but wants to protect Tormod from the punishment of the clan. She has developed a strange power that allows her to find things out and not be seen. Tormod is trying desperately to figure out a way to be able to keep Jema with him, but fears that the clan may come down on him for breaking the rules. Tormod’s friends are trying to figure out what the Viking is up to that’s got him acting so strange lately. Unfortunately, they all have to answer to the clan as well. Fenella and Gavin are on a mission that brings them to Thora’s gravesite, again. If druid magic isn’t enough, then the Eye of Freya will help. And just like that, Thora is back in the mix and still out for McDonnell blood.
The magic of the druids comes into play this time for us with the reading of Jema’s bloodlines. She’s told that she was able to come through the portal because she is of druid descent, which they all understood. However, the spell to read her bloodlines uncovers the fact that while her mother was a druidess, her father was a Viking shaman. This accounts for the powers she develops from her trip through the portal.
I’ve already told you enough to whet your whistle, so to speak. So, read this one and enjoy it totally. It’s really good! While I go get the next book in the series, called GAVIN! Yup, he’s got his own book, due out February 6, 2018! -
I received this book as an ARC, but the obligation to write a review and my opinions about this story are most definitely my own.
The saga continues on ancient Island of Skye with our Scottish clan, the McDonnels and a sole Viking, Tormod Liefsen. This episode has less interaction with the druids and thankfully, the Undead 9th Roman Legion led by a frustrated Quintas Seneca and his increasingly violent, and mad former lover, Fenella Ivar.
Hazel Hunter gives a wonderful background for those who have not followed along through the previous stories, but I would strongly suggest reading them as they will acquaint the reader with many of the secondary characters in this story. Each story adds to the richness of the complete saga.
To use the time travel portals, one must have a druid bloodline. Jema McShane is an archeologist searching for the famous/infamous Freyja's Eye, reputably a golden diamond the size of a man's fist. Stories passed down state that it had miraculous powers to sink multiple ships and harness the power of the sun. Jema's been working in a large unstable pit that appears to contain ancient relics and possibly an interned tomb. On this day Jema has convinced her beloved brother to come with her, to get out in the fresh air and the old oak forest. Her brother, Gavin, is her twin. They have always been close. He was in the military and was once large and brawny, but over the past two years ALS has depleted his muscle reserves as it has destroyed his nervous system. They were told that he probably has less than a year to live. It's a great struggle for Gavin to even make it to the dig site that is so much a part of Jema's life work. But he does it for Jema. It is getting towards evening and a torch (UK for flashlight) is needed for her to see what she is doing and not miss anything. He leans over to give further assistance to Jema and they both tumble into the pit and are swept away through an oak leaf strewn tunnel. Upon landing, they are separated and Jema hits her head and is knocked out.
Jema has amnesia and does not even know her own name. She is found by the Viking, Tormod Liefsen. He was doing is annual search for the final resting place of his beloved sister, Thora, the greatest of the warrior shieldmaidens. He quickly bandages Jema's bleeding wound and takes her to an empty cottage nearby. Thus begins the adventures and love story of Tormod and Jema.
Gavin finds that his health has been completely restored. He is thrilled and takes the time to just enjoy being able to take a full breaths of air easily and marvels at his returned muscular strength and vigor. But he is alone. He searches in vain for his sister, but as a seasoned military man is able to provide for himself.
What a wonderfully complex story is woven here by Hazel. I think that this is the best of the series. There is erotic love scenes, tense episodes, adventures, the usual treachery by the Undead,
murder, banishment, the aide of some additional artifacts and as in the past, each traveler to the past brings a unique talent. I can't wait for the next story of Gavin. You will enjoy this one! -
Hazel Hunter puts a different spin on the druid ancestors arriving into the Immortal Highlanders world by bringing back an extra individual with the female who is brought back to the past. Also she is not from the same area as the last 3 arrivals and throws this Highlander into a confused and protective state. When our time travelers powers are revealed right away you soon wonder how the other members of the clan will receive her as does Tormod. As in other books it is thought to send the new arrival back to their own time but it seems like their feelings and events conspire to keep her in the past, since they have nothing to return to in the future. Jema seems to fit into this century from the start do to her profession in the modern world. We are taken back to Dun Aran for the story of Tormod and Jema as they discover love and loyalty to each other and their clan and family. Tormod and Jema take you to the heights of love and desire. As they fight the enemy and become enmeshed in the secrets that are revealed with help of Tormod Highland clan. By concealing Jema from the clan Tormod puts his position with them at risk because the reasons that he is keeping Jema a secret are because she has no memory and because of the power. With the help of their allies Jema's heritage is revealed and they are able to undertake a mission of saving the people they love but with a great sacrifice. There are surprises for Jema and her brother as well as Tormod finding out about the turmoil of his sister and her resurrection into an unusual form. His clan is put in danger by his sister and he has to make the ultimate sacrifice for his adopted family. Jema is given the chance to discover the object she was searching for in modern times. When Jema makes the ultimate sacrifice and the goddess Freya brings her back to life unfortunately its revealed that her brother by what Tormod saw is dead. Watching from his cloaked position Gavin believes that Jema is picking the Highlanders and her new life over him so he does the same. Tormod and Jema get married and she gets to use her profession in her new life with the help of her new husband. Questions are left to be answered such as; What will happen to Gavin? Will Jema and Gavin be reunited as siblings? Will Gavin find the love of his life like Jema did? I look forward to finding out in this final book of this group of Immortal Highlander books. And am looking anxiously awaiting how the new Immortal Highlanders will come to be more fully formed because the reader got a glimpse of their origins in this book with Jema's heritage.
-
Twins Jema and Gavin McShane find themselves in medieval Scotland after falling through yet another portal. Unfortunately, Jema and Gavin are separated during their tumble through time. Jema arrives with a slight head injury, but Gavin arrives fully healed from ALS. The twins discover they have the gift of invisibility and camouflage.
A beautiful woman could make Tormod Liefson lose his mind and spill clan secrets. Another one of those offenses that can be punishable by death, which is precisely what happens when Jema falls in his lap. Of course, Tormod can't leave her hurt and bleeding, so he takes sneaks her into Dun Aran and tries to behave normally. Diana and the others quickly pick up that something is amiss with Tormod but have no clue as to what is going on with him.
Tormod's history with the Pritani is not a pretty one, so it is surprising Tormod has become part of the McDonnel clan post-Pritani considering he is a Viking who's village was attacked and burned to the ground by said Pritani. Tormod's entire family is dead including his beloved sister Thora the Merciless (to him she's his little sister Thora).
Tribune Quintus Seneca and the Ninth Legion can't seem to get a break against the McDonnel clan, but surely this time things have to swing in their favor. The legion has been rebuilt, again, and Quintus believes he knows where Freyja's Eye, which is said to harness the power of the sun, is buried. If the legion can gain control of the eye and reverse the curse, they can end the McDonnels clan forever. The Legion aren't the only ones searching for Freyja's Eye. Tormod and Jema are searching for it as well for different reasons. Quintus' Perfect Fenella is also seeking the eye after Thora the Merciless takes up residence in her body. Oh vey!
Gavin's not had an easy time since his arrival. He struggled alone for a time until he meets and is enthralled briefly by Quincy’s’ former lover and Perfect, Fenella Ivar. Once Fenella is evicted from her body, and Thora takes over, Gavin falls in love with Thora. Thora needs Gavin as an ally to get around that pesky daylight issue and her thirst for blood. Gavin is none the wiser as he feels a kindred soul in Thora as a soldier.
The McDonnel clan, Legion, Tormod, Jema, Fenella/Thora and Gavin all clash at the location of the burial site of Freyja's Eye and the battle begins. Many will not survive the encounter. -
Undead, siblings, Viking Gods.....titillating
Tormod is the only Viking that is an immortal living in the McDonnell clan of Picts. He sneaks out once a year in search of his sister Thora's grave. When he find a a cave that appears to be burial sight he enters but can't find her grave. As he turns to leave the ground shakes and a woman falls into his arms. She is bleeding from a head injury.
Jema is an archeologist in modern day Scotland. She brought her twin brother with her to the dig sight. No one else is around. She leave him up on the platform while she goes down into the dig. Her brother Gavin, has ALS. He is deteriorating fast. He used to be in the military but got a medical discharge because of the disease. Now he can't eat and is talking about suicide.
She wants to find "Freyas Eye" which is said to be where she was digging. If she does, she can get a better job with more pay to help Gavin. But something happens and he falls into the ditch. Oak tree roots wrap around them and take them back to the fourteenth century.
There are a couple problems. She can't remember who she was and Gavin landed in a different spot and can't find her.
Tormid takes her to the clan, but hides her from everyone.
This story is different from previous books because we are not dealing with just the druids but the Viking Gods. There are quite a few adventures throughout the book of different people from Gavin and Jema, Thora and Tormod, the undead, the druids, a couple of gods, even members of the clan especially Diana.
I am totally hooked on this series. I am happy we have more books coming. So I recommend this book, but I suggest starting out at the beginning or some things won't make much sense. -
Super !!! that was amazing I loved this one with it's twists and secrets and surprises, between Tormod, Jema and Gavin and the rest of the clan, A definite must read for all fantasy lovers young and young at heart, male and female, I was not expecting some of what happened, some I thought should have happened was surprising and different, thank you Hazel Hunter for yet another awesome read in the series a definate page turner and can't wait for the next in the series as this one is a most definite can't wait to see what happens and evolves, please don't make us wait tooo long, go on what you still waiting for grab your copy now actually grab all 4 that are out sooo far they are all stunning Hazel Hunter

Tormod is such a sweetheart! Really good addition to the series - wishing for that .5 star. Well edited.
Tormod is not an true part of the clan. He is actually a Viking, who was captured and held as a slave for 10 years by the McDonnel clan. When the Romans came, he was released to fight them, and bore the same fate as the rest of the McDonnel clan. However, he has spent the last 1,000 years looking for the remains of his sister. Enter Jema and Gavin, twins from the 21st Century. They fall into Tormod's world, and the adventure begins. I didn't quite understand how Tormod missed finding Gavin, but such is the twist in the plot.
Honestly, this really makes you feel for Tormod. He is such a good soul - always putting the good of others before himself, whether that be his sister, the druids, the McDonnel's, or really humankind. He is almost an island unto himself, and it seems no one really notices.
While I really enjoyed Tormod's story, I also felt like it was more to move the story along to Gavin's tale. I didn't understand how the twin connection could be so detailed, but that neither twin felt that there was some possibility that the other wasn't dead. I guess we will see how that play's out in Gavin's story. Enjoy! -
Jema and Gavin McShane are twins. She is an archaeologist and he is a soldier until he comes down with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He is only has a year left. Jema takes him to her dig sight and just as she finds something her brother's chair falls over and the ground gives out as they are transported back in time.
In the past
Tormod Liefson is an immortal warrior living in the Scottish highlands. He is looking for his sister burial site then a women lands in his arms.
She has no memory of who she is.
Wow can this writer weave a tale . It's amazing, so many twists and turns it will keep you guessing what's going to happen next all the way up until the end. I love the characters they are fantastic. The story has everything love, loss, action, drama, danger and mystery. It's a 10 star and not to be missed.
I can't wait for the next one to come out.
Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it -
>Book Review – Tormod
>I am an independent reviewer. This is the 4th book in the Immortal Highlander series and ends in an HEA. This book has 2 characters fall through time, Jema, an archeologist, and her twin brother, Gavin, ex-soldier and ALS patient. Of course, once in the past, Gavin is cured and once again big and strong. They fall separately, with Jema having amnesia and unable to look for Gavin. Tormod finds Jema, while the evil Fenella is taken over by Tormod’s sister, Thora, who proves to be crazy. Thora seduces Gavin, who helps her find a Nordic treasure of great power.
>The previous characters are all present as the Norse goddess helps to defeat the undead. Gavin is left behind, while Jema has her HEA. I loved the jealousy between Raen and Diana over her feelings for Tormod. All of the character are learning to work together to defeat the undead. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. -
Tormod is book 4 in Hazel Hunter's time traveling highlander series and should really be read in order. The books are essentially one big story with different main characters that build upon the story of the last set. And the others are good books too, so why wouldn't you read them? :)
Tormod is the epitome of the odd man out: a viking among Britannia warriors. He lives up to that many times over and you can't help but to ache for and share his sense of loneliness. Jema felt like a reward for him, and I really enjoyed her. The relationship between her and her twin brother was one of the best in the series so far as I'm concerned and I look forward to seeing Gavin get his happily ever after next.
The pair had a battle, as they all do, but this one was even more 'mystic' than the last and that made it even more fun. No spoilers, just saying it'll be trip.
If you like time travel, druid magic, immortal highlanders, steamy romance, and interfering gods, this is a book for you! -
3.5 stars. Tormod is the fourth book in the series Immortal Highlander and is a full length novel. This is can be read as a standalone. But there are so many more clan members stories to be told so why stop with reading just one? There is violence and hot steamy sex scenes so 18+.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. The author did a great job of describing the setting and the main characters Tormod and Gema, along with her brother Gavin. There are a lot of clues in the storyline that keep you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. It definitely kept me reading. I look forward to reading more of this series and find out what happens with Gavin. -
I have read all four books in this series and love all four but this may be my favorite(so far). While this story does have the same "theme" as the other three, the underlying story is about family. The family you are born into and the one you choose. There was the issues between Jema and her twin Gavin. There was also Tormod's love and loyalty to his "deceased"(read to understand) sister Thora. Then you had Tormod's conflicting feelings for the clan he has been a member of for all his immortal life. When you mix all of these together along with growing feelings between Tormod and Jema, you end up with a wonderful story. Can't wait to see what Ms Hunter has planned for Gavin.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing* -
I mostly read the book because I read the first 3. They were getting pretty predictable as to the outcome of the protagonists and this one followed the same path but varied a wee bit in the end because you’re reading the story of the Viking and not the Highlanders. I want to finish the series and I’m pretty sure what will happen at the end of the last book...😴.
The reason I started reading them was because I liked the wit and humour of the Scottish Highlanders. The way they would say things was funny and endearing. I like Raen and Tormod. When they added in the modern day females, it turned it into an entertaining banter for awhile. Maybe it’ll get better for book 5, Gavin, but I have a feeling it may follow the same cookie cutter template. -
Could not stop reading! This series is unique, and each novel gets better and better. The McShane twins and their heritage give this book an extra twist that I really enjoyed. I loved the Viking mythology that was incorporated and brought to life!
I'm glad this book was about Tormod. He's part of the clan, but too different for others to relate to. He really needed someone there for him and I'm glad it's Jema.
The author is just wonderful at world building and creating wonderful characters to enjoy. This book, and the rest of the series, is definitely a must read! -
I have really enjoyed this series. I recommend it if you enjoy time travel romances and historical romances.
This book was a very intriguing read that kept me guessing. Tormod and Gema are meant to be together but it is not an easy journey. She along with her brother Gavin have been sent back in time and have to make some important choices.
There are many great characters in the story that I would love to learn more about. I like that the author really develops the characters and you feel very much apart of the story.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received. -
Tormond
This is a new author for me Hazel Hunter is going to go on my must read list .Her descriptive writing is wonderful without being long winded .The characters might have magical powers and fierce fighting skill but they possesses relatable human emotions and insecurities. I started reading the first book in this series and couldn't stop .When I wasn't reading them I was thinking about them. A good book stays with well after you turn the last page .Tormond the smart ,handsome ,funny ,loyal, loving Viking will be one of those that I won't forget. -
Tormod is the lone Viking of saga till now. Never quite part of the clan but fighting with them. We’re coming to the end of the saga but it’s nice to see the familiar faces round out the story. Diana stands up to the clan and wins him some sympathy. Yet another visit from the future but this time we get twins with cool powers. Jema is rescued by Tormod but her twin Gavin isn’t so lucky. Poor Tormod makes a heart wrenching decision and shows true valour. I can’t help but wonder why nobody looked for his body. Hopefully he gets his HEA in the final book. I read this using my KU subscription.

Fourth book in the series and I can hardly wait for the next book this series has just gotten better with each book. I know when this series is finished I am going to be sitting down with all of them and rereading them. This is Jema McShane, her brother Gavin and Tormod story with its twists, and turns it is a book that kept me reading until the very last page. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

Oh, give me a stout-hearted Viking.
The portal continues its work of snatching away modern-day women and dropping them on the Isle of Skye as gifts to the immortal warriors of Scotland. Who knew that the portal is sentient! It must be because it certainly is hard at work carrying out some grand plan of the Druids, even though said Druids don't have a clue that it is doing so.
Ah, well, on to Book Five. Perhaps we will find the answer there.
