Brody:
Five years ago, I lost my best friend. The last words he ever spoke to me were a plea to look out for his wife. I never meant to fall in love with her. I even ran from my feelings. Not that it did any good. Three years later, I still can't get her out of my mind. Now, I’m going to try to win her back.
Hopefully, I’m not on Santa’s naughty list because it will take a Christmas miracle to win her back.
Cass:
After Jackson died, I didn’t expect to find love again. Still, things with Brody just felt... right. Which made it that much more confusing when he left with no explanation. Since then, I’ve worked on rebuilding my life. I started fresh in a new town, and even have a new man in my life. All of which complicates things when Brody shows up in search of a second chance.
Hang the mistletoe and string the lights, he’s going to need more than a jolly ole elf for me to consider re-gifting him my heart.
From USA Today’s Bestselling author S.L. Sterling comes this heartfelt holiday second chance romance you do not want to miss.

This is second chance love story between Cass, a firefighter's widow, and Brody, the firefighter's best friend. It is a deeply written story about love that has snuck away and then stormed back into Cass's heart. This is a story revolving around Christmastime, and it ties in subtly but is there.
I mentally struggled with a couple parts of this story, mostly the parts including Cass and Ray. I liked him, but there were some things that I wanted to punch him in the face for and times I was rooting for him. He was another main character, and Cass's boyfriend. Without "spoiling", I will just say...there were parts of this book I really bit my tongue for.
I love S.L. Sterling's writing style! She does an amazing job keeping you hooked. She has a nice mix of angst, love, heartbreak, cheating, and sex. I would recommend this book! 4.5 stars

After the death of her husband, his best friend and co-firefighter was there for her. Then they grew strong feelings for each other and then he left. But Cass was left alone, devasteted. After three years he comes back. Cass is in a relationship with Ray, twenty years older guy. But he appears to be jelous guy.
I didn't like how he talked about her behind her back, although that was dring and anger talking out. And the fact that he didn't support her desire to write, pure evil. Brody is the opposite of him; gentle, he knows her needs, her desire to write and supports her in that area. I loved the part when they finally let their feelings towards each other loose. I'm in love with Brody, he is perfect.

This book was a little slow to get started but once it did I was fully invested in the story and the characters! I really liked both the characters of Cass and Brody. The only question I had was where are their families? Cass’s mom was mentioned in memories from the past but I don’t recall anything being mentioned about their parents or any family currently. Other than that this was a sweet story about lost love, twice, and trying to find it again with the wrong person when that right person comes back into their life. Highly recommend this for a good holiday read.

Very well written holiday romance with interesting chemistry with the main characters that are well thought out. Their history as the best friend to the firefighter husband killed in the line of duty adds to the depth of the characters as they have a second chance at love.

This was a rally sweet short read that’s pretty perfect for the holidays. While it takes place around Christmas and it was kinda the main focal point it wasn’t a super huge factor in the story. I really liked Brody and how sweet he was. I can’t think of anything I didn’t like about him. Cass annoyed me quite a bit. I think that’s the main reason that I couldn’t love the story. When we got her POV I found my self rolling my eyes over and over again because of how she acted. She lied way to much for me to like her and the fact that it happened all the time it seemed really pulled me out of the overall story. It was a beautiful plot and the author did an awesome job writing it. I would read more from this author because the book kept me entertained but because of Cass I just couldn’t love it. 4 stars #2OCCJD

A well-written story of a second chance. Brody made a promise to his firefighter partner as he died to look after his widow Cass, but Brody started falling in love with her so he ran. Brody is now back after three years. A story of suspense, drama, danger, and romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Received an ARC for honest review:
I would give it 4.5 stars.
On a Silent Night is a holiday book that is perfect for a plane ride. It will keep you occupied and make the flight seem short and sweet.
I was conflicted about Ray, I wanted to hate him but you really couldn't, you also really couldn't like him either. As characters go his probably more real than most, which is probably why I cannot decide if I like him or hate him. I know he is not a main character but he is strong supporting character that could easily get his own book. Again I am not sure I how I feel about him or if I would like to see his story but it is definitely a possibility.
The story of the book is something that happens probably more times than not due to lack of communication. The question being why are people so afraid to communicate, which boils down to fear of rejection and unrequited love. When you get a second chance you need to grab it because 2nd chances are hard to come by let alone a 3rd. -

I always enjoy second chance romances because of the idea of finding that second chance to love and be loved! This is one of those stories. Brody and Cass had a connection because of their past. And there’s always something special about having that history that needs closure...
This is my first S.L. Sterling read and you can tell she’s a good writer. In my own personal opinion, I would have given this the whole lot if it wasn’t for this one other aspect of the story... its something major important to me... it’s just not my thing!!!
BUT!!!! Give it a chance and see the chemistry between Brody and Cass, and how they went about finding that closure they both needed. And books like this, makes me want to find a small town in the states and live there for a year at least... I love the feel of small towns 🙂

This is my second book by this author and her synopsis always pull me to the point where I am anxious to read the book right away.
I can tell you that she doesn't disappoint with the story line either. I was completely hooked reading this book. I love second chance romances. There's always something intriguing about the if's and why's to these types of stories.
Cass and Brody seem to have a pull on each other after Cass loses her husband. Brody was Jackson's best friend and he is there for Cass after he dies. They share a bond and they seem to keep getting closer and closer as time passes. They eventually give in to their attraction and sleep together, but when Cass tells Brody how she feels about him, like a little coward he runs.
Cass is left heartbroken and angry. But she moves on with her life and meets a wonderful man and he seems to make her happy. She has everything she could possibly want and need right! Until Brody decides to come back to town and goes looking for Cass.
Now the question is, will Cass go running back to Brody?
Everything about this book had me hooked from beginning to end. Again, I loved the story and I loved the characters.
Ms. Sterling sure has a great sense of writing and her books are addicting!

On A Silent Night was a angst filled journey that was heart wrenching cover to cover. Cass had lost her firefighter husband, and his best friend had been tasked to look after her, and that's where this story started. Well, if Cass hadn't been broken enough, she and Brody (hubby's bestie) caught feelings, then Brody walked away for 3 years! That broke Cass even further, and the kicker was that every bad thing always happened at Christmas time. Yeah I can definitely relate. Now Brody is back, but Cass wants nothing to do with him, as she's finally moved on, but Brody is ignoring all of that since he knows that they have a connection that won't be denied, so this Christmas, will it finally be a good one? So you see, all the angst in the world filled these pages, but never fear, there's a hotness factor to give some breaks from that whole emotional situation. Oh, and there's a certain secondary that will provide a twist or two to allow some f-bomb dropping as well. And that leaves S.L. Sterling, a new to me author, firmly on my radar for future work, so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Cassandra (Cass) and Brody. 5 years earlier both Cass and Brody lost someone important to them in a fire. Brody his best friend and firefighting buddy, Cass her husband. Three years earlier they made moves towards one another that changed everything. Cass felt guilty for being with not only someone else but it being Brody her husbands best friend. Brody felt like not only had he betrayed his best friend but lost Cass's friendship. So Brody left 3 years later he is back to not only see if he can have back the woman he loves but also fix what was broken that night. Can they find a HEA or will the fact that Brody leaves and has a dangerous job be more than Cass can deal with?
This is an amazing story. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin it for any other reader. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. -
Wow I loved this story it’s amazing, S.L. Sterling is a new author to me and I will definitely be looking out for more of this authors work. Cass had lost her husband in a tragic accident, Brody felt the loss as well because it was his best friend Jackson that died. Now Brody wants to help Cass as much as he can and they get so close that they spend a night together but guilt makes Brody run and he leaves Cass behind broken hearted. 3 years later Cass has started in a new town with a new life, after 3 years Brody comes back into her life but can Cass trust him with her heart again?. This story had me so emotional and I love a book that can get to my heart and make me cry this one certainly did. A fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
