The Persistent Groom (Texas Titan #1) Reviews

    1.5 stars.

Sorry I didn’t like this one. The H was sweet and a genuine good guy. I felt like he deserved more than an h who was constantly pushing him away. The drama from the evil ex-MIL was OTT and the decisions that the h made were frustrating. I didn’t enjoy the H being the only one to communicate. Unfortunately, there was only one adult who employed healthy relationship practices.

I slipped this book in between scheduled review reads. I picked it up on kindle unlimited. I've read the other two books in this series so I had to wrap things up with Ace. This book was good- a fun diversion. Scheming ex's, an adorable little girl and a second chance at love. It was a satisfying journey with a good ending.

My only real slight bother was the page long paragraphs. There is just something about seeing a paragraph that takes up a whole page that makes me cringe. Why is that? It's a real thing for me. I ended up skimming those paragraphs and not missing anything vital.

Ariana runs an event planning business and ends up planning the event that some Texas football players are to be auctioned off. To her surprise, one of them is someone she used to date.

Having read 2 of the 3 bachelor auction books in this series I, of course, had to read the 3rd one. This one is a second-chance story complete with a crazy ex-husband and manipulative ex-mother in law. It’s a good thing Ace is a “persistent” groom of those two would chase him out of Silver’s life.

I appreciated Silver’s devotion to her sweet special needs daughter Gracie as well as Ace’s open-armed acceptance of her. A great story that shows persistence pays off.

As the 26th Jennifer Youngblood work I have reviewed, her record of five-star reviews from me remains intact. Silver and Ace are fantastic protagonists. They loved each other way back in High School, but Ace lost out to Riley, Ace's best friend at the time. Now, years later, Ace gets a second chance with a now divorced Silver. This time, Silver has a young Down syndrome daughter who is the light of her life and plays a major role in this story. I leave it to the many other competent reviewers to summarize the storyline, but I remained glued to my iPad from start to finish with a story that was both interesting and entertaining. This is clean romance at its best and I heartily recommend this and all other Jennifer Youngblood works to all my friends.

    Another great Texas Titan Romance

I’m starting to find that I’m addicted to these Texas Titan Romance books, lol. They have great swoon-worthy men who are incredible on and off the field. (And yes they all continue to remain good clean romances). Ace Sanchez has every right to be cocky and prideful with his career and how much work it took him to get there, yet he remains humble and kind, still willing to work in his family’s restaurant. I was frustrated at first with not knowing what was going on in this story, but as I read I found I very much liked how it unfolded. Silver was a great female lead as well- and I loved how time and time again she retaliated and stood up for herself. A cute book!

I enjoyed this book from start to finish! The characters were well written and relatable, and the story kept me turning pages.

    Sweet Gracie

What a romantic story! Truth is a powerful weapon when lies threaten to overwhelm you. Silver is bullied into a position of having to lose Ace, the love of her life, for a second time in order to save her daughter. Can she find that faith, family and real love can give her strength to combat lies with truth? It's a great story as Silver finds that answer.

The Persistent Groom: Jennifer’s Texas Titan Romance Book 1 is by Jennifer Youngblood. This series revolves around three members of the Texas Titan NFL team and their families with their search for marital happiness. The situations are very real and the characters are quite realistic as well. Serious situations occur in the books that the characters must face and that readers should pay attention to as well. This book deals with the way Downs Syndrome children are viewed and treated. It also touches on the idea of having affairs while married is just something that must be endured instead of taken seriously. The feeling of entitlement simply because of your wealth is another thing that is dealt with in this book. All of this plus the romance makes this a great book.
Silver Bliss Coulter was doing her best to make her event planning business get off the ground while raising her daughter, Grace. Grace is a Downs Syndrome child and needs a lot of care. Luckily, she has been accepted as a student to a nearby school for children with Downs Syndrome. She has been on the waiting list since she was a baby. Now, she will have to figure out how to pay for it; but she will. She knows it will do no good to ask her ex-husband, Riley, for the money. Meanwhile, she has an event to put on- an auction.
The auction is for charity and three members of the Titan football team have agreed to be sold off for an evening. Ace Sanchez does not want to do this; but he promised so he will. He runs into Silver before the event begins and just seeing her starts a reaction in him. She is as beautiful as ever and he still lovers her. Now, he has to persuade her to give him a chance. Can he make her love him with only a few minutes to be with him?

Great read for a sweet escape!

Ace, part of the “triple threat”on the Titans football team, sees what he wants (who he’s wanted for a long time) and he's determined this time is going to be different. So he is “persistent” as he goes after Silver (love the name). I have to say this is felt like the most natural ‘lost love rekindled’ story I've read in a long time. You can tell the basis they made as best friends since junior high school is there so even when they get mad or frustrated at each other, they keep at it and work it out. I loved that Ace was even able to make her laugh in those moments too. There is a crazy ex and psycho mother-in-law who had me cringing with how nasty they were getting. As I was running out of pages I anxiously wondered “How is this going to end! Someone stop the madness!” But it wrapped up nicely and that’s what matters to me.

Very sweet book I definitely recommend. It’s part of a series but it is a totally stand alone clean romance. The beginning part of the book covers the same event as the other series books but being that it's from a different perspective you don't feel like you are re-reading the first chapters all over again. Thank you for that.

This was an okay romance. I enjoyed the first half better than the second half. I really wish that instead of the showdown at Bruce’s birthday, that Silver would have recorded Dinah at the restaurant making all those claims and somehow used it against Dinah. Of course, it may not have counteracted the alleged videos of alleged child abuse, probably doctored video, and having Bruce hear everything was a more effective deterrent but I have trouble believing Silver would have been given the “open mike” for so long at the birthday party. I suppose everyone was in shock and let her talk. However, one thing I did like was that Silver did need to be the one to stand up and somehow solve this herself rather than the author having Ace do it.

    Ace and Silver

Ace Sanchez has worked his butt off since high school to become the premier running back in the pro football league. He also regrets losing the girl he fell in love with in high school but who ended up marrying his best friend, Riley.
Silver Bliss Coulter is now divorced from Riley. She has a five-year-old daughter who was born with Down Syndrome, who she loves unconditionally.
Ace and Silver meet up again when Ace and two of his teammates are the prizes at an auction event that Silver has planned. Silver's ex-husband and his mother are not nice people and will do anything to stop Ace and Silver getting back together. What evil things has Mrs. Coulter got planned?

I’m on the fence with this one... two stars, or three?

This book started off simply alright, progressed to not too terrible, veered off to ‘I can’t read another sentence’, then back round to not too bad.

Honestly, I’m not going to bother giving this one a full, detailed review. It was an alright story that bordered on ridiculous at times.

    One bother?
Yes, I understand Silvers mother-in-law was a rich, well-connected socialite. BUT to say she had the manipulation power against a top NFL star... was pushing it for me.
She might have clout over Silver, sure, but Ace should have trumped her connections and reach by a landslide!
Anyway, point is, a lot of this story was pushing it for me.

It redeemed itself about half way through so I’ll stick with the three stars... but just barely.

    Beautiful

This was my into to this author and the story was beautiful.
Silver initially lost the love of her life out of obligation (trying not to give spoiler alerts). Ace took the loss of Silver as the opportunity to become what was intended for him and become man of the hour on the football field.

However no amount of time apart or life experiences could change their love for one another. Get ready to get angry and disgusted by Silver ex husband and ex mother in law. But most importantly get ready to fall in love with Gracie, Silver's daughter.

    TEXAS TOUGH RECLAIMING LOVE

Ace renews his association with Silver and hits a brick wall. Their history is full of passion and difficulty. Will they be able to renew the feelings they experienced before she married the wrong man under duress? This is a beautiful tale of a woman, Silver who marries the wrong man, a man of wealth who is basically controlled by his vicious mother. Silver is unable to stand up for herself, until
Ace comes back to town as a huge football player, famous and rich. Someone who is able to help Silver gain a backbone.

I enjoyed the edge of your seat quality that this romance had from the scheming ex and former mother-in-law. As a romance it was okay. It relied a lot on the previous history these two had. And it had the very cliched we can't communicate so that it creates drama in the story, which I can't stand. I did enjoy the fact that her daughter had down syndrome and the extra challenges that presents a parent. It added an extra dimension to the story.

  • Charissa

This football romance features Ace (superstar running back) and Silver, the one who got away from Ace many years ago. When a fluke brings them together again, Ace is determined to win Silver's heart this time around. I really liked this book in this series. Ace was my favorite football star in this series, and I loved his style of getting Silver to break down her barriers with him. It's cute. Very easy to read and not boring at all. Good job!

  • Jennifer

    Great clean read; rushed ending

I loved and hated that this was a clean romance. Hated because it just didn't seem realistic that all they did was heavy kissing. I also wasn't always a big fan of Silver. She just kept telling Ace to butt out, but didn't really handle the situation until the speedy, ballsy but too perfect ending. But the supporting characters were great.

  • Debra

    The Persistent Groom

They had a past. They went to school together. Became sweethearts. But there was someone who didn't want her with him. She ended up married to his ex friend. Now they are back. But does the past still still have it's good on her? Will he find out what happened years ago?

  • Sarah

    beautiful work

Such a wonderful story that was more centered on jobs and moving on than too much of the past in baggage or trauma. Gracie was a doll, Ace was a decent guy and Silver took the cake standing up for herself and putting the truth in the open. They deserve their happy ever after.
